Thanks. Yes, he's in IT. That's great. We are in TX and it's a struggle to make it to graduation in IL, but we were hoping to go to Pensacola to see him there his first week and hand over his car. If you don't mind another question, did most recruits have people come to graduation at Great Lakes? I saw a video that showed a little of it, but I can't tell if it's a huge deal and if he will feel isolated if he doesn't have folks there. Thanks so much.
@LisePgardener Alot of parents don't go. My dad didn't go cause you spend all that money to get there for an hour graduation and I left right after it was over. I practically ran to get my bag. When you do go to P'cola he won't be able to leave base yet, he has to wait a whole month if they still have phases like I did. U can come on base and visit but he isn't suppose to leave. He will be there a while so if u visit right when he gets there u might wanna visit toward the end too.
@NavyGypsy Thanks SOooooo much for telling me that. I was really feeling torn about it, and now I am more at peace with doing things just as we are. You are very kind to respond, and I really appreciate your insight. Best of luck in your future.
Nice video. My son's headed to A school Pensacola in a month. We want to take things to him. Can we get on base and is he allowed visitors? Can he have a car?
@LisePgardener If he is an IT or CT then yes he will be able to have a car and visitors and all that. I don't know about the other base, NAS but it shouldn't be any different.
do you guys get to wear your camies everyday and dress in civie clothes on the weekends or is it like you get to only were the digital camies once a week?
@NavyGypsy so how does online schooling work? my recruiter seems to be blowing this question over his head when i ask...does the navy cover all the costs while your in A school for online school and while on active duty and if you know the name of the program could you tell me so i can research it or something thanks :)
@14bunnie You can do college after your done with A school, you should try and learn your job before jumping on the college boat. but yes they will pay for up to 15 credits a year.
I want to join the navy when I get out of high school and join the SEALs... Any advice on how to go about doing that? I havnt been to my recruiter yet so I have no idea what I have to do prior to SEAL training. Thanks.
@soccernerd200 Try to get up to 90-100 pushups, 120 situps, 15+ pullups, and run 1.5 miles in 9:00 or less. I ship out Sept. 20th as SO/SEAL so after boot camps, its right to BUD/S for me
@Javierjahve the first week where? bootcamp or A school? Bootcamp is learning the entire time, which I suppose is like work, while A school is just like normal school. If you look at my bootcamp videos I explain the first week of boot, known as P days
I was at Corry in 73 for CTO A school, 75 for CTO tech control C school and in 79 for CTO comms management school. It sure has changed. I fact I lived there twice as a rug rat cuz my dad was a CTO school instructor and then he was the officer on charge of all advanced CT schools. CWO4 sends.
@eakiyama2382 A school is just like real life. You can do anything you want as long as you get your work done. Its like any other job... for the most part
Don't know if you have posted this but what is your rate? Im a MA in the reserve, These vids are reminding me all about A school in Va in early '09, Thanks!
your videos just made me even more excited about shipping (i ship this october)! thanks for the advice... keep the vlogs coming... well as you can :-)
Are you part of Spec war division? Im going in as Diver (woot) and I have been ready for boot camp for years now (Navy Brat) but I have never heard much of anything about Diver A school
@BlackOpsStevo I am not Spec Ops, sorry. But I do know people who have gone through boot like that if you want I can ask them anything you want. I am certain they have an A school because A school is just your training school for your job
@NavyGypsy Wow thanks but I don't wanna trouble ya. I know Dive school is in Panama City but that's it. Guess I'll find out first hand shouldn't be to bad.
I am thinking of enlisting. I have two questions. First of all, was Boot Camp as bad as it seems to be? Also, after RTC and you are at your A School - how did you get your personal things from home. Clothes, laptop, TV,....etc.....
@KScarpettafan83 I was given christmas leave and that is how i got my stuff from back home. anything else was sent to me by my family. boot camp is only as bad as you make it. I actually enjoyed it
Question? What course is it that you are taking in A school? I'm 30,female and I want to join the navy after I finish school in October 2011 in computer science and hope to join the navy continuing the same training if possible. Were there any recruits my age there? How difficult is the ASVAB really? BTW I love you vids, you get straight to the point and seem genuinely honest about the whole experience which is comforting. Hope to hear from you! thanks!
@Jackiepop26 I am a CT. There were recruits over 30 and the asvab is not difficult at all. especially if you've been in school. I am so glad you like my videos! please keep watching! I try and help as much as possible.
@10lexy11 For A school it just depends on the day and if they goal is cardio or core, also it depends on who you PT with. My chief likes to run so we run more then anything... i hate to run but it is helpful
this doesnt revovle around a school but when you graduate bootcamp do you get any type of leave or liberty cause when my brother graduated from marines bootcamp he got ten days leave ??
@navygirlsteph Yes A school is better and PT doesn't get harder since no one is yelling at you. You will PT your entire Navy career so you have to get used to it.

@NavyGypsy
Thank you so much for the info.
I just joined the Nacy last month but I'm not leaving until October of this year for bootcamp.
I'm concerned about a lot of things, but most of them is regarding physical training.
I used to be an athlete in freshman and sophomore year, however I stopped and was inactive during junior year and also right now, senior year.
I do push ups, some biking and swimming now and then, but I'm worried that I'm not doing enough to be physically ready.
10lexy11 1 year ago
@NavyGypsy
what can you advise me to do? Like what specific exercises I should perform everyday?
In order to be somewhat ready for PT in bootcamp.
Your help will mean a lot =]
Thank you in advance.
10lexy11 1 year ago
@10lexy11 I just suggest running everyday or every other day and doing at least 20 push ups and maybe 50 sit ups if you can.
NavyGypsy 1 year ago
@NavyGypsy
I see, Is it a problem if I can't do the sit ups by myself?
Like I need someone to hold my feet?
10lexy11 1 year ago
@10lexy11 Someone will hold your feet. you can also use a chair or bed to stick your feet under for practice.
