Feeling is mostly timing and you get pressure with the piano and sustain I believe in the pedals which all adds to it...

If all of that was annotated perfectly it still wouldn't convey the same feeling to a group of people in one time as it would to another group at another time...

I know you were joking but it made me think... You simply can't bottle feelings completely and music probably does the best short hand version...

To your question. I think music in any form, but esp' IMO classical, is not to store emotion, but to reveal it. It is one of lifes riches that everyone can own. And to turn things around a bit, I think that one doesn't choose music, it chooses you...Which is kinda nice. :)

I'm grinning because I recalled the part in the movie Amadeus, when the Emperor told Mozart that it was quality work, but had too many notes-that he should cut a few and it would be perfect and Mozart (Tom Hulce) replied, "Which few did you have in mind, Majesty?"
