Stick leg,,,,

We say, maybe "かもしかのような足" or "Deer's leg" or "Deer's-leg-like"

It's used when people admire long & slender beautiful legs with imagination of dynamic & quick move. It's like legs of athlete.

But we don't often use it when we admire women's leg.

And there is a word "だいこんあし(da-i-ko-n a-si)" or "radish leg", meaning "fat legs".

It's obviously an insulting word and used for describing not men's legs but women's leg.

@morinokuma123da Ah yes, I've heard of those expressions before. I know that the reason why many Japanese women want thin legs is because they know it's admired by others. Some women go too far and look too thin for western eyes. Westerners like thin, but we don't want someone to look like they're starving. So many Westerners think Japanese women are too thin sometimes. They focus on the legs because the women are always showing them off.

You have a point in that Japanese women cares about how the other people think about them. Generally speaking, both Japanese men and women often think "how people think " should come first rather than how individual thinks. For example, It's very hard to find Japanese woman, especially young lady who eat alone in ラーメン屋.They care about other peoples' impression about eating alone. if you capture young lady eating alone in ラーメン屋 by video, I promise to donate 千円 to your project. lol

Hey, let's reverse it: Japanese women have normal legs and others have trunk legs. (Just kidding, sort of...). I thought I'd seen some strange novelties in Japan, but now I've seen everything. That was fun, thanks.

The photo you're using to compare these women to is obviously shoopt but even so a great majority of those women, who looked to be at a very healthy and appropriate weight, had tiny legs and thighs. I wouldn't say all Japanese women have stick legs because you can't lump everyone into a single stereo-type but it's safe to say a majority of Japanese women have stick legs when compared to other ethnic populations with "plump/normal thighs" such as caucasians, africans, and latinas.

@woodsider Normally, if I had never visited Japan, I would say you are right. However, I have seen legs that thin to that extreme. Whether the photo was photoshopped or not, I have seen more than one woman with legs as thin as that pic, walking in shorts and knee high socks in Japan. There are stick, thin, anorexic legs in Japan, but not every woman has them. Believe me, I was shocked every time I saw legs as thin as those. It didn't seem physically possible... but they were walking.

I don't think Japanese women have a reputation for having stick legs ( I really can't say anything cause my legs are pretty damn skinny ^^). I think their legs may have a tendency to curve out below the knee.
