Who didn't love The Ventures Hawaii Five-O music? Rhetorical. Not to mention the show was great. My brother and I always looked forward to the show and I 'gotta say we loved the theme song as much as the show. As soon as we could we got The Ventures album. Thanks for a great post.
@sarek1701d and a much better show than the 2010 one..... I remember watching the reruns of these with my grandmother (dad's mother) when I was a young kid in the late 80s....
The Original Theme was by Chaquito ( A.K.A. JOHN GREGORY ) For all you people who want to hear or download look at James Macarthur listings - he played ` Danno` by the way, you`ll see a link to the download - NOT allowed to say here though. Good surfing!
Hawaii Five-O was without a doubt the BEST show ever for me as a kid. My parents loved it, I loved it, we all danced to the Ventures and other great bands, my dad and I surfed together at Bondi. Jack Lord was my mum's fave man after my Dad! Then, to see Radio Birdman play their great tribute to this show, not only the theme song, was the icing on the cake at 15. Thank you to tvtestcard for this entire intro soundtrack and to all the kids who haven't seen the original, catch an episode.

ohhhhhh,my gosh,I put this on my desk top!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the whole entire version of Hawaii five o???!!! after all these years, this is the first time I actually heard the real full version.Thank you. SMILES!
Thats Amazing! I loved this show. I seem to remember hearing at one time Jack Lord was up for the role of "Captain James T Kirk" on Star Trek, but he turned it down. Dont know how true this is, but it seems to have worked out for him and William Shatner.
@daviep79 Jack Lord wasn't chosen for the Captain role because he demanded 50 percent ownership of the show. Gene Roddenberry didn't have time for such demands. He was working very hard to fine tune a series concept. There was little time to waste.
Bill Shatner was the only one who auditioned without an entourage or excessive contract demands. He showed up on time and was prepared to work!!!
its coming back to cbs in sept,i hope they did it right, have to use same theme song or it will already be a dud weve waited a long time for this i hope they dont blow it.
I've never heard the long version before. THIS ROCKS!!! I played the short version on my accordion years ago, looks like I'll have to relearn to play it again. :)
This version is from the CD 'The Cult Files' released back in 1996 via Silva Screen Records. This version is by The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra Conducted by Mike Townend
!que tiempos ! con la tv con los cuernitos como antena cuando para cambiar de canal habia que levantarse y dar vuelta una manija que parecia un ruleman !zulu como kono ! kam fo (como) chin ho que tiempos carajo !!
This is not the Ventures version. The TV version predates the Ventures version.
But I like the guitar solo on this one and I'm glad the Ventures have been inducted to the R&R hall of fame. I'm 43 & just learned this on my Fender guitar.
this vrersion you can really listen to riding by the beach.the show was great jack lord was a self made guy who got screwrd over by hollywood.check out james macarthur in battle of the bulge
He lived in a big condo in Kahala and used to run us off because we started too early at 9:00 am......how do you think he did it? He called the cops..(true).
@neweast1 He was viewed as a big time star and I think most people liked him for bringing world attention to Hawaii. He gave most of his money away after he and marie died to local charities so it has been said.
Thanks for posting this great tune! Heard it on an AM station today and was glad to find it here. Loved this show as a kid, even though Steve McGarrett was usually a butthead. My hero was always "book em" Dan-O. Him and Chin Ho always seemed to do all the work. Of course the scenery wasn't half bad, either!

Thank God that the days of the "jack Lord" looking face bozos ruling america are over! The universe is tired and has had enough of these tarzan-johnny weissmuller- eurocentric and egocentric clowns continuing masquerading as rulers of this planet. Adios Sabata, Peace and Shalom,
Jack Lord looked undeniably cool with that hair!!
