  • Daigo. ftw

  • omg boring as fuk the finales..jesus..theses 2 should never match up again...all though the r goos players but come on...

  • i fuckin hate sagat how hes soo overpowered

  • I like the fact Dhalsim won - he's considered a lower tier character and the guy just played him better rather than spamming Tigetshot.

  • Watching a pro like Iyo makes me feel like shit. I main dhal... and I jump/teleport far too fucking often. God I suck lol.

  • @mattrospecs -- Buddy, as long as you realize you have areas to improve in, you CAN improve. Keep trying.

  • This fight is just as lame as the beachball mode of Tekken3..

If these guys are pros then I am the emperor of China 'lol'

Its better to loose in a gratefull manner, die while trying. Than be a fireball breathing coward, hiding on the other side of the screen

  • Your highness!

  • @Pervypriest that's called a tactic ;)

  • Dhalism is over powered in this SF iV, he needs to slow down a bit

  • i wonder where 2D-god was in this tournament? im sure he would have destroyed iyo but who knows

  • sagat's a bull. high dmg, best fireballs, high stamina, wtf bro OP. respect to that dalshim :)

  • @Specthree iyo is the best dhalsim

  • Wow, Sagat fireball spam is cheap XD

  • its so fuuun to see all this big talkers whine on he is OP there and he is that there and lame here, but you was never close to a tournament? =O maybe wait with bragging before you enter the stage of pros :S your just jealous as rest of us that you get pwnd all the time live with it!

  • Nah, we're just upset every sagat ever spams "TIGER, TIGER, TIGER, TIGER, TIGER, TIGER, TIGER, TIGER" at least 300 times in a day's worth of playing.

  • sagats desparate move spamming tiger shot. ROFL no respect

  • Haha, you kinda have a point there, NO idea why everyone disagrees with you so strongly o.0 At a pro level people clearly don't like to get close and personal, but at the same time it's rather bland to see 2 people fireball spam so much and not show their real skill all too often...

But I guess the fight was alright. The way the whole tournament was presented makes the atmosphere more exciting, though...

  • people disagree because his point is dumb.

This isn't a game between friends for kicks and giggles. It's a tourney. Prizes and bragging rights are involved. This isn't a spectator sport. You want flashy? Look up SF4 combo videos. You want winning tactics? Don't expect flash.

  • I agree Panda. The reason they are not up in each others faces is because that would be suicide. It is all about controlling space and fireballs are a great tool in controlling space.

  • No...it'd be suicide for Dhalsim. Sagat wants to be close to Dhalsim. It'd be insane for a Dhalsim player to allow Sagat to stay close for long.

  • Yeah definitely a boring fight compared to some but that is what the SF formula becomes. I wish Japan was more like America in the sense that none of our best players are Sagat so the fights are more diverse but I wish America was more like Japan in the sense that they have arcades with SFIV everywhere and a gigantic SF community throughout.

  • i agree with you completly

  • It's a basic skill, what do you expect?

  • You just suck. Go kill yourself.

  • great tournament ^^

  • I dont know if any of you noticed but Iyo was playing way better then RF. I you pay attention you'll see that RF is trying to stay out of Iyo''s range but Iyo does a crouch med kick to get closer and then he does that stand on one leg thing so the next fireball misses and RF wasn't even paying attention to it. I knew Iyo's defence was good but he even has a good plan of attack to top is off.

  • Respect for that Dhalsim.

  • why are some of you guys complaining about a game,i personal like the game, but really stop being retards, if you dont like it why are you watching

  • people, this dhalsim is beyond incredible.

  • Yes he is

  • no respect to all sagat users. period.

  • Im with you all the way

  • sagat isnt overpower retard, he been strong in every sf games that just the way it is, u just sck alotsofballs if ur crying about it

  • why r u so retarded ??? i have been learning only badwords...poor mother u have...try to speak correctly, then we talk. lazarento do caralho filho da puta

  • wait isn't that bitch ass justin with the purple jacket?

  • lol, no its not but I can see the resemblance.

  • No because this is a Japanese tournament, Jwong attended the American tournament

  • @magocybernetico no that's kindevu

  • the guy playing sagat is a pussy

  • Japanese people are very confusing to fight against..

  • mhmm im sure that you know that somehow even though you dont even know me, dumbass.....

  • And yet he's still a better player than you.

  • Enjoy the nice -7 next to you commet.

  • Lyo zoning is greaaaaaaaat

  • want to see more of Gen in those tournments. his like Pew pew! and bam bam!

  • emotionless winners....kinda lame

  • Wow... so even the pros spam fireballs?

  • it's to zone the player and put them in a position which inconveniences them, but is advantageous for yourself.

  • its a good way to pressure, and keep you opponents away from you when your winning.

  • That's how the gameplay went when people discovered the system was similar to SF2.

Doesn't really allow for enough speed or timing to get through, above, past the projectiles. So spamming them is a viable and strong strategy. :(

  • Auggh!

    That's a NOOB's strategy.

  • That's the finals gameplay of the Japan National SF4 Tournament. Think you can do better? XD

  • its called controlling space faggot

  • Well, last time i checked spamming fireballs was a noob's strategy.

Oh, wait... i'm reffering to post street fighter 2 games where the fireball system was actually fixed...

  • @MammaLuigiRobotnik They were playing SF4. Nothing to be proud of! lol

  • way to feed the troll

    AdvertChild98

  • the girl on the left on black shirt is pretty

  • Advert, Piss off, why are you even here if you are not a street fighter fan. Your a pussy. Educated you are? A fool who deserves a beating is all you are. What would you know about parties? The highlight of your life is making fun of people who are here to comment on something they enjoy. Fuck off. Worthless? Some of these players have endorsements that would accumulate to more than you could earn in 5 years. Eat shit and die

  • i believe the winners earn money for winning.

getting money for an activity that some people play for competition/ fun entertainment doesn't seem to be a waste of time to me, but i guess that aspect flew right over your head.

  • @AdvertChild98 Because learning how to yell when speaking and making sure not to spill your drink as you lean on yourself is detrimental to one's livelihood.

  • faat kid in a purple shiiirrrt

  • So you work or go to school 24 hours a day 7 days a week including on holidays , that's your prob if you do and how did you get the time to go on youtube?

  • so tldr you are talented at nothing

  • right on sista. you go girl.

  • NO, you are a pussy

  • Advertchild98 is a 11yrs old girl hahahaha

  • as insane as they are

even if they win tourneys they're like at their dad's funeral

    lolol

  • wow sim is the champion, i dont think ive seen him at all in top in 8 AWESOME

  • You don't see him in top 8's because he requires a lot of effort in execution and disciplined play. Tops are usually populated by the ones that take the least amount of effort to play well at high levels. Dhalsim being "low tiered" in SF4 doesn't mean he can't be used effectively, it means the amount of dedication required to do so is significantly less than, say, Sagat. People still hate on Sagat too much though. He is demonstrably beatable by much of the SF4 roster.

  • Dhalsim rofl

  • OK.....

  • Only one way to beat a godly sim ... blow for Blow .

  • Ok......we dont have annoying voice...but yeah thats how we are.....GG indeed

  • this insane dhalsim made a good sagat look like a beginner

  • good for the Dhalsim dude

    fuck Sagat

  • That dude found himself with Dhalsim, bravo.

  • What screw u...u annoying American

  • stfu fag

  • OMG, the best Dhalsim I've seen so far for SF4. Amazing patience and space control. Love the dodge and FA amour usage.

  • best... commentator... ever

  • Dhalsim player was just simply amazing, specially defeating a Sagat player who is a high tier.

  • u play as dan and win yeah ok

  • time will tell on dan - his gadoken move is turning out to have far more application then people thought at first, and his ultra can be very suddenly applied. He's a joke by characterization, but he's fairly balanced on the whole.

  • Dan is a beast TBH, he can link and counter combo devastating attacks..

  • seriously. My pal plays as dan against my boxer and my other pals fuerte, and he holds up just fine.

Those kicks are great, the gadoken is great for comboing off of close normals, and his ultra is great after block or during a turn around punch. The whole game is fairly balanced for the most part, I just haven't seen too much on sakura yet, but I'm sure somebody will figure something.

  • All right, I'm NOT flaming, or trying to incite an argument, but I find this footage a little disappointing. It's always fun to see what high level gameplay is like for different fighting games, but SFIV seems to be almost entirely about spacing and ranged hits. I was expecting more combos, quite frankly, but instead there's almost entirely fireball spam, followed by quick, single blows. Again, I'm not trying to flame, but I find this more than a little disappointing.

  • Sagat IS playing Dhalism who is basically a zone controlling character so don't expect many combos in this matchup. Sagat has to find his way in while Sim tried to kept his distance. Really hard to close in if Sim knows what he is doing. When Sim does combo, he makes it count though.

  • I see. I did not realize that the character of Dhalsim was such a character type. Thanks for the clarification.

  • If you want combos go watch Gouki/Akuma, Rufus, Ken, etc.

Playstyles for each char are quite different. You wouldn't want to go near Zangief if you have fireballs do you? :p

  • You're entitled to your opinion of course but I have to say this is a product of the particular players and the two characters they picked - SFIV won't play like this every time. In fact, Sagat Vs D is a pretty oddball matchup in any setting but a tournament. Finally, there's more then one way to be a fireball player - some people take the machinegun approach, others take the approach of using them for cover - and all have counters.

  • Very Impressive Dhalsim, I may have to try and pick him up

  • GTFO TROLL

  • What an amazing display of skill for the DH player!! What is the name of that move where DH slide over to dodge the fireball? Is it easy to execute?

  • done with d+ppp

  • Dhalsim's Yoga Tower, Sliding, and Fireball blocks are spot on. Great counter to Fireball Machinegun Sagat

  • Yah the Sagat player made quite a few very big mistakes. Missed some crucial fadc to ultra that could've easily gave him the rounds he needed. He could've had this tourney easily if he had patience, fighting DH requires lots of patience.

  • lol, troll

  • BRO! EAT A DICK!

  • The winner doesnt even look excited =/

  • Omg funniest shit I read all day thanks rofl

  • I believe either he's trying to be humble, or he was forced to go into competition. It could also be that he is EXTREMELY tired from the long hours of Street Fighter. lol

  • lol

  • damn, that's fucked up...

    but i laughed.

  • that was a funny post and a lot of it is probably true. people probably gave you negative points because at the end you got a bit too negative, but it was still funny.

  • im pretty sure he was just trying to be humble and now rub it in the other guys face

  • i guess thats just how they roll in japan. you know in america not showing signs of what we call humanity will get you lots of flames xD

  • Except most times americans forget that there's a fine line between being humble and being a pompous ass.

  • yea who knows how he was acting eh?

  • true dat

  • Reminds me of the ST tournies at times.

  • Does Dhalsim now have an offensive teleport? I can't quite make it out.

  • Is Iyo going to challenge the American champion just like when Daigo beat Alex Valle many years ago?

  • america is not on par with japan

  • i'd have to agree there. these dudes can pull off amazingly difficult combos and a showcase of skill in front of so many people. japanese people are so diligent. usa has a lot of good players too but just not at this level yet...

  • There are a few players at this level in the USA. The difference is that in Japan, arcade culture is still going strong all across the country with TONS of good players involved. In the USA, there are still _some_ arcades, but the culture as a whole is pretty dead, especially when compared to what it was like back when SFII was released in 1991. Nowadays the competitive gaming scene in the USA is overwhelming focused on internet gaming. PCs/Playstation/Wii/Xbox have killed the arcades.

  • It has more to do with their population being so condensed. Whereas the arcade scene in the US is harder to support with the peeps spread so much. This makes it hard to make pals with arcade peeps, and also makes it hard to run a successful arcade business.

  • I think you're partially correct. I've spent time in Chicago, New York, Tokyo, Nagasaki & other major cities. I also live in LA. While LA doesn't doesn't have the skyscrapers & density of, say, NY, there used to be a ton of arcades all over this city just 10 years ago. Now? I'd guess around 80%+ have closed, and even all the LAN cafes or Dave 'n' Busters don't compare to the size and number of arcades we used to have here in LA. I've heard similar things about other US cities, but not Tokyo.

  • Yoga rules. Sim is the perfect shoto-counter.

  • Probably because it's a dumb idea.

  • Cool. Spam like a bitch then. : )

  • spamming a good move is not looked down upon at all in the tournament community.

but a good balanced game should have a way to eventually beat a spammable move. sf4 is still too new to know for sure though.

  • nah, all street fighters have had ways to get past spamming. dragon punches, anything that has invulnerable frames works, focus attack and dash canceling really quickly can work, etc.

  • this is one problem with sf 2 and 4. this game is made for sf2 players. i personally prefer sf3:3rd.

cos cpamming wont help you. and parrying is not for the faint hearted/noobs

  • 3rd rules. But I really think IV is a worthy successor.

  • When will you 3:S retards learn that there's no such thing as spamming. There was real intent and good judgement behind each and everyone of those fireballs.

  • try that in 3rd strike and you will have you ass handed over... you call that skills?

  • Street fighter 3 rocks. Too bad no one likes it cus it doesent have their precious street fighter 2 characters.

I swear, SF2 is the only SF game capcom seems to acknowledge. That one and that stupid Street Fighter Alpha.

  • I liked alpha the best. SF3 was amazing, too though

  • Does Dhalsim got a dodge or something? What is he doing at 1:32 ?

  • It's a new move called Yoga Tower.

With it, Dhalsim can dodge fireballs and most low attacks.

  • yeah, i was wondering too!

  • iyo rf kindevu nuki

lots of cvs2 players in the top 8 (i know rf and nuki aren't primarily cvs2 players)

  • Cvs2 is balanced compared to a-lot of other fighting games.

  • Many thanks for putting this up. Read about it on the SRK forums so nice to get to at least see the finals.

  • RF missed some crucial dash cancel combos. It's still cool to see a Dhalsim take top prize at a tournament.

  • those hori sticks don't got shit on the madcatz ones

nice match, i'm learning alot about Dhalsim from the vids. I look forward to giving him a shot in SF4

  • Iyo of CVS2 fame?

lol at Dhalsim vs Sagat if so.

  • Yep, it's the same guy.

From what I've heard, most of the CvS2 regulars in Japan are playing SFIV.
