I have owned both currently have a White g60 for sale IMO the g60 is better the v6 always ends up a expensive fix where as with the g60 a 10000 mile service on the charger keeps it sweet and it's far better through the bends pm me if interested in my g60 £2200 every mot from new 129k only done 10 miles in the past 4 years as was dry stored it just been out now for full service and everything changed and will come with fresh mot
@akkudakkupl yeah, his dream car was a corrado, and it was his first car so he got his dream car as a first car lol. it is very nice, he has a Kompressor Kanada rebuilt g-lader in it.
What the f*ck are you talking about? The tuned 1.8 G60 of my friend doesn't have the standard tractioncontrol like my VR6..... The G60 has sharp cornering but the VR6 standard will have almost no understeer...
@mike0glx lol sorry pero estaba corriendolo yo no iva a poder grabarme a la misma vez y mi corrado era 2.9L VR6 SLC de alemania muy pocos de esos llegaron a Estados Unidos el resto de los VR6 si son 2.8L
they are both insane cars, but i dont think that the american version is 2.8 i believe that they were also 2.9l 190hp and the GOLF MK3 VR6 were 2.8 174hp
agreed. the g-ladder superchargers usually need to be rebuilt, but the vr6 timing guides and chains can be really costly, as for the rest of a vr6 definitly more expensive then a 1.8 g60. g60 supercharger can always be replaced fairly cheap with a better charger like an eaton
Both of these cars are legends of vdub world. G60 has that something special about it, it has the spirit :) , while 2.9 vr6 has the top speed and power. If you wanna tune it to over 280HP go with vr6, it can take biturbo. But my choice would be g60 tuned to around 220-260, that's about perfect. G60 is lighter and better choice for city runs, take vr6 if you wanna own in top speed. But whatever you take both requiire good servicing, than you have a bullet-proof car what ever you take from these 2.
hows the maintainence on either one of these... looking to go from a japanese car to something rare, and german... which would you prefer out of the vr6 and g60 as far as maintainence, handling, acceleration... etc
Well the way i see it maintainence on the VR6 and g60 is a lil hard everything is very expensive for these cars and u will have to order most likely from the dealer of VW. for handling acceleration in handling the VR6 is a bad in the snow and rain since is kinda heavy for the engine and it doesnt move much cuz it looses traction right away about the g60 i cant say much since i havent owed one in acceleration the VR6 its fast cuz it has more torque than G60 and with torque Horsepower
my experience being a vdub guy go with the vr6 g 60's superchargers seem to fail unless its completly rebuilt sending bits of metal into your intake and damaging motor
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
VR6 12 valve engines 2,8 and 2,9 lack torque, race and pace...a stock BMW 325i from 1993 is still much faster in acceleration and top speed than a slightly tuned VR6 with hot cams and chip. Vr6 is even not able to overtake an Alfa 90 2,5 V6 ;)
I own 2 1.8 16v's and 1 G60. Never owned a VR6 as although they are good straight line pullers they handle like pap imho, too nose heavy. may convert one 16v to an R32 4wd setup though just for the fun of it :D
the black corrado VR6 is stock i only installed an intake, a straight pipe 2.5'. the yellow G60 has the bahnBrener Kompresor, rebuilt engine, fixed computer to work with all the upgrades in the car. my car has like 107,000 miles on. oh wait i almost forgot about the front mount intercooler that this guy has for the kompressor its not visible but its there.. so its pretty much hooked up .. mine isnt =(
A Stage 4 G60 w/ exhaust (maybe $750?) will rape a 12V VR6 silly. Either the VR had more than claimed (listen to how quick it gets thru the gears...sounds cammed to me as well) or the G60 had less. I've owned both. :)
Blimey - not much in it between those two different engines. Just something about the G60 that says cheating tho with that engine spec, whereas the VR6 is just pure brute power! I love Corrados, and I shall be buying a VR6!
In my opinion, the VR6 motor is garbage compared to the G60. Ive owned both and did close to extreme work on the VR6 and moderate work on the G60, including larger supercharger, and the VR6 has always been sluggish. I also turboed the VR6 so
That's about right, I've had a G60 and a VR6 and the VR is a little bit quicker offf the mark then the G60 is a bit quicker though the gears. If you want one, buy a G60 - they're cheaper but get one thats had its SuperCharger serviced every 60,000 Km. VR6's need an full engine check every 130,000 Km.
And colors mattered why ???

Beginning to agree with you there - after buying one, its characteristic of the VR6 to lag before the 4000 rpm mark. Unless a Shrick is added.
Welloiledcog 4 years ago
