I always loved the Rascals' version, and like this one too especially the subtle part where he sings "I love you, I love you, I really do girl etc... Choose ! Is it him or me ", part. That was as good as the Rascals. It's funny , I got fooled in the beginning of the video I thought the keyboard player was a GoGo Dancer.
This is a brilliant song! It was a big hit in Australia in the mid 1990's when it was covered by Divinyls. Pity that Angel weren't recognised as a great glam rock band like KISS, Sweet and The New York Dolls were.
Great tune & they do an awesome cover of it. too bad they didnt come out in the mid 1980's.................MTV would have made them real big..........maybe. i saw them in Boston (1977) doing this tune and others on their "Sinfull" tour and it was one of the best concerts i ever saw.
yeah, i agree. if they had launched in the early 80's with video etc... they would have been huge. im very envious that you seen them in 1977. well done.
@ProperGroupie Oh I love this version. Offhand I don't know how well this did as a single but to me it's almost like a Grand Funk move ("The Locomotion"). If this song wasn't a hit it had the sound of a hit to me.
@ProperGroupie I wouldn't make excuses for this song. It's a kick ass song, and when the Young Rascals did it , in '65 there weren't too many R&R cliches around like there are today. My friends the Doughboys still do it today. It's one of their signature songs.Sometimes when I see a very negative comment I check out the guy and I find that they have nothing goin' on at all, ASOLUTELY NOTHING.
Horrible isn't enough of a word to describe this, it's like someone was forced to write a song at gunpoint, and that someone was retarded. Every bad r&r cliche is in this, I grew up with kiss and looking back most of their shit was bad the only one that gave them a shred of creativity was Ace, but this....it's really bad.
well if you know the history of kiss, true facts where there record sales floped, until the kiss alive album. kiss is a great live band, but back then the studio stuff were very bad.much like angel
the only good record they had was the live album, others wasnt so hot, just like kiss there studio records suck, but there live album put them on the map
back when "records" were what we listened to, i would listen to side "A" of this and it was great. flip it over and it sucked really bad. there you have it!
I saw ANGEL back in the late 70's and they were the opening act for RUSH. They blew away RUSH in a big way and I later read that RUSH was so pissed off that they would never tour with them again. This was written in a popular music mag of the time. Very funny and a GREAT concert....
In 1977 , Angel played at the Broome county arena in Binghamton NY. I know they weren"t the headliner but I can't remeber who was. These guys did not get the recognition they deserved. Great 70'S band. Allot of great bands played the small arena as a warm up for their up coming tours...
my 1st concert...angel ,,, rush ,,, & blue oyster cult,,,, we were leaning against the stage..syracuse N.Y. sept 1976 never forget it i still have all there lps..ive put them on c.d...
I've heard of Angel's name and 1970s existence for many years, but had never heard their music until now with this song. They sound like a hair-metal band before the hair-metal genre even existed. The pre- hair-metal band hair-metal band, lol.
no way were they a wanna be KISS group they had an original image and the most original show in rock or i should say one of the most original shows in rock and the music was awesome
they had the same managers, same record label, platform shoes, punky look like ace, open your eyes man.but they tried to make a soft verson of kiss.but there record sales suck
so did a lot of other great bands record sales suck for example:the gods, starz, leggs diamond and many others but they all gave it their best shot i'd give my left nut to have had any of the carrers these bands had
I saw Angel warm up for Judas Prieat in the mid 70's. The opening was like a magic act. They assembled boxes on the stage then the logo introduced them and they came out of the boxes one by one.
thats the one! I saw it at the Palladium in NYC. I was in the front row and they put the boxes together right in front of me. Then they pulled the metal plates out and they appeared one by one. It was incredible. To this day I still have no clue how they did it...
Crazy, I saw the Angel/Godz show in Seattle. Was the first and last time I'd ever seen them live and I thought the mix of industrial strength magic and cutting edge 3D motion hologram were pretty cool. But the bottom line was their music was theirs and sounded like no other and stuck with ya.
Does their drum die of spontaneous combustion by any chance? J.K. I had never head of them before today. Great vocals. Wish I had heard of them 30 years ago!
HELL YEAH!!!Great Band! I know they put out a new material CD in 1999-2001??? and I miss the tour in 2003, they played at a bar South side Chicago..White Hot and Sinful best albums! I did like the "THE FORTUNE" song from Helluva band.I always wanted to form a cover band to play their music..
