i want a dreadhawk. im white straight hair. the longest ive had my hair is down to my chin. at the moment i have a psychobilly wedge. which is a form of mohawk but doesnt go all the way down to the back of my neck. my hair at the moment. comes down to the middle of my eye. next week im hoping to bleach it blonde. and continue bleaching until its light enough to have bright colors in it. hopefully i can start the dreads soon. ive tried a few myself with backcomb. but still a little too short :p

hey man iv had a mohawk itself for about 4 years now .. i decided i want to dreadlock it and i was wondering how should i dreadlock the top , like should i have the dreads go ina straight line til it reaches in the back ...or have it randomly also how many locks should i have and how do i space them out evenly so some arent thicker than others?

@Metalhead2474 If you want the sides of the mohawk to be even, you probably want the dreads to go in straight lines, but it could work in random order, who knows... The number of dreads you have depends on their size - the bigger the locks are, the less there will be - the smaller they are, the more there will be. the best way to keep all of them at the same thickness is to have someone else separate your hair into even sections, and then lock up each section. First tip is to wear a cap/bandana as much as possible. it holds the hair down and keeps outside dust from getting in. even if you only wear it to bed, it should help a little.

Second tip is if you use wax, be very careful not to use too much, cuz there are bad consequences in the long term.

Third tip is palmroll, palmroll, and palmroll. but try not to tug/pull the hair when you palmroll. tugging and pulling can thin out the new growth at the scalp.

I hardly ever go outside and cover my hair (unless its cold, or if i'm working out i'll tie it back with a bandana) so i've had a lot of sun exposure and swimming esposure, etc. Also, I was born with lighter than average hair. Since dreding up, almost four and a half years of sun has built up (a little more then two and a half years in this video)

yes your hair still grows, but when it comes out of your scalp it's not locked. it will take time for the new hair growth to tangle upint the dred.

it's really hard to know how your dreds will look before you get them. it's kind of a long process - it could take years for your dreds really lock into that thick tight rope that a lot of reggae artists have. thinner dred take a little bit less time, but still they have to go through that process ...

Well you could use the latchhook method(aka crochet hook method).But your dreads will be high maintainance dreads

i'm as pale as a nuns cunt and have very straight hair but i've had dreads for about seven years. my advise would be find one of those african hairstyling shops, they're usually dependable cause they have alot of experience with dreads, whereas alot of hairdressers will pump it with product and it'll fall out easily. if you get alot of flyways, beeswax is the beez kneez. just dont let hippies do it cause it'll end up looking like the back of a buffalo, if you get my drift.

okay, well your hair knda sounds like mine. an inch or two is fine, that's when I started mine. i started off with twists and just kept twisting them out of habit, and they locked up in about 6 to 9 months. you may not need to wash as often, maybe once or twice a week.
