  • tim burtons' inspiration. =]

  • @Kagama Was it?

  • If only Hitler had taken the time to watch these movies.....He might never had such evil thoughts, and appreciated cinema.

  • @conewells Doubt that would have helped..he was just too messed up in the head. I mean one of his favorite films was Disneys Snowwhite for heavens sake.

  • Thanks!

  • It also has to do with the speed at which it's projected back. For argument's sake, let's say the handcranked camera records 18 still images every second. (no standardization back in the day) Modern projectors or digitized recordings would show it at 24 frames per second, not the 18 per sec it needs.

How does 18 fit in 24? You speed it up. You watch it faster than it was supposed to be shown. The extra 6 frames comes from what was supposed to be the next second of footage (the next 18 frames).

  • is it just me or do all the people in these old-timey movies always seem to be moving like they're in fast-forward?

  • @linkyramone1

I might be wrong here, but I think cameras were still operated by hand cranks in those days, which is why the film looks so choppy and fast-forward.

  • Got told about this film in an art lecture, it's my first silent film, kinda good in a (very) old fashioned way! XD

  • How has this been recorded?

  • @raikiriboss With a camera.

  • @raikiriboss What do you mean?
