@MrHorses4eva wow ,and if my aunt had balls she would be my uncle. 50m jesus dont u just love those comments. he would not have got past youzmain dont mind thomas
I've often wondered why either in 07' or 08' why a colt that was as talented and racing as well as he was, why Septimus never took a shot at winning the Arc in one of those two years? I have always thought that Septimus was a very talented colt, with a ton of heart and stamina. I'm not sure if he would've won the Arc or not, but Septimus was never an easy beat for any horse. I would've liked his chances against Dylan Thomas better than against Zarkava though. JMO.
@GBeret83 wasnt septimus more proven over longer distances than 1m4, i thought he was going to be the likely succesor to yeats in the ascot gold cup for obrien....I would imagine he was never aimed at the race because he needed further
@MANUTD4LIFE171 what I mean is no race should be used to compare two horses unless they have faced each other before because every race is unique in their own styles
@sainglain there is no proof youmzain ran to the same level in all 3 of his arc seconds, it is actualy very unlikely so i dont agree with using youmzain as a form marker
@littlebay75 Authorized was overrated he got lucky in the international getting first run on dylan thomas, down to some poor riding from murtagh, Authorized was a poor derby winner despite how impressively he won the derby, compared to new approach or sea the stars he was very average
Ok if me aunty had bollocks she'd be me uncle but Youmzain was the Arc winner that wasn't. He was cutting Dylan Thomas down like a knife.
A flying home second to Zarkava, an assassinating 2nd to Dylan. Fallon on him Sunday for the '09 Arc. What a fabulous turn of fate that would be. Go fate. Go Youmzain
@tenminutesgone dylan thomas did find more once youmzain came alongside him....also look how many seconds youmzain has in his career....he just hates getting his head in front......i dont think he would have ever gone past dylan thomas
I simply can't have that Manut. Another few strides and Youmzain's got him nailed. I don't think Dylan Thomas saw him, let alone find more. He was already flat out and Youmzain was eating up the ground going faster than him. All academic of course as his run was that bit too late, but hey..
@tenminutesgone Youmzain has finished 2nd on 7 occasions there is a reason for this, as talented as he is he hates being in front, even if he had got level with dylan thomas i very much doubt he would have gone past, if you want confirmation of how much of a dodge this horse is watch last years coronation cup at epsom, he got level with ask appeared to be flying past him then he just slowed up and was beat by a nose
He's also won 6 times. At the Arc he was beaten ( though far from shamefully ) by two superstars, Zarkava & STS, and one lesser light, who had luck on his side.
The way he beat Soldier of Fortune in the Grp1 at Saint Cloud 2 years ago was anything but in the manner of a horse who doesn't like to be in front.
I guess we just see the story through different eyes. Vive la difference.
@tenminutesgone Dylan thomas was a superstar also, fair enough he was beat a few times but look at the races he won, dylan thomas did not have luck on his side he was the best horse in europe that year, although he may not have been had manduro not got injured in the prix niel, forcing him to be retired, manduro was some horse shame he never made it to the arc
@tenminutesgone He did beat Dylan Thomas also at Royal Ascot in the Prince of Wales Stakes although that was a 1m2 race, Dylan Thomas was better over 1m4 but still i feel Manduro could have still beat him over 1m4 also but we will never know for sure unfortunately
he caused far mor damage and hampering than dar re mi did at the weekend yet the result remained unchanged . . .had youmzain been a french horse i wonder if the result wud hav been changed
dylan tomas was never beaten with fallon on his back

Sea The Stars had a brain - have any of you leaving comments, even owned, bred, trained, or ridden a Throughbred racehorse?? don't think so.

So by Sea The Stars winning the 2009 Arc by 2 L from Youmzain he would have beat D.T. no problem.

races are not run on paper.. anything can happen.. who knows dylan thomas could have offered more to beat sea the stars?

@an08p yes my friend and it is highly unlikely youmzain ran to the same level in all 3 2nd place finishes, so we cant use youmzain as a form marker

Of his three straight 2nd place finishes in the Arc, 07,08,and 09, I think this was the closest that Youmzain actually came to winning the Arc.

I was there.

authorised seems to be forgotten, but like generous had obviously gone way past his best that day ,youmzain was desperately unlucky not to win
