It's amazing how different trad songs like this can sound by different artists. I've just been listening to the 1915 George Formby Snr recording and apart from the tune and the words "grandfather's clock" they could be different songs. Still, both very good versions.
Wonderful country western rendition of this eternal great song for all generations for all the people in the world. I learned the Japanese version as a small boy, now I am singing this original English version with my chorus group friends, finding the original words so refreshing and endearing. Truth of life is in here. eijiro odagiri
My grandmother sang this to me as a child I am now 13 but since i was 10 i have sung it with her every sunday 3:00pm no matter what :) I could not imagine life without her
Oh, what wonderful childhood memories this song brings up. The version I always listened to had a woman sining but I really like this version. RIP Johnny, you are missed.

Also in Dutch (Frisian) "Pake syn klok" Frisian is a language only spoken in the Province of Friesland (Dutch) or Provinsje Fryslân (Frisian.)

This is the closest I can find to the original Henry Clay Work arrangement. That's annoying.
