Having just listened to about half a dozen different renditions of this song, I felt that if it were done with a slightly slower tempo and an earnest, pleading sort of articulation, it could really be an emotionally moving piece. I have just heard the perfect version of what I had imagined. Absolutely superb! I wish EP could have heard it done like this.

Melissa was one of the finest singers from the 80s. Totally underrated. This woman could SING. The "artists" of today are artists in name only. It's more important that they look sexy or do something shocking then actually show that they have talent--that's because they don't have any to show. Melissa--please record something new. You are so loved!

What a beautiful interpretation. The whole record ("Tribute") was superb, including a fantastic cover of Walk on By, which I had never before heard delivered with such a powerful emotional wallop, no offense to Ms. Warwick. I've often thought how unfortunate that, for whatever reason, MM seems to have been unfairly and undeservedly left out of musical iconography of the '70s and '80s, for such a gifted singer. A shame. She deserves better.

She wasn't lipsyncing here....very few people would lipsync on Carson's show. I have the Tribute album and this is not the recorded version. Melissa just has an incredible voice!

Oh No... I am a huge fan.... But the video is way off the voice, I guess they laid the track back over the video for youtube. Not being an ass.... But if you watch this.... the sound is completely off with the lips.... Cyndi Lauper does a better version I think though.... (just commenting in the comments section)

If the audio is out of synch with the video, it's because this performance has been converted from VHS-DVD, then again converted to a wmv/avifile. I assure you I did no such thing as laying an audio track back over the video, or any other such manipulation. The vocal is EXACTLY as performed on the Carson show in about 1990. Melissa is not lip-synching. Anyway, the video & audio are not that much out of synch Check your computer.
