Honestly, I can't stand the original version of this song. It came from an era of rock music that churned out a metric shit-ton of cheesy, over-produced crap (such as Def Leppard, like it or not). True, it's a shit song to begin with, and this rendition isn't much better, but at least it's got heart. It's not a bunch of bloated, cocked up rock stars paying some studio wizard (Mutt Lange; can't knock him really) to make their shit song tolerable; this is the bare essentials; and it works.

The reason why music has gone to shit is because of all these cover artists that add their own shine to their songs.
Sure, music evolves but is that a good thing? No! The music that was written decades ago was written for that era, a lot of it heartfelt about the things that happened at their time.
The influences of the world around them made the songs, the artists worked damned hard to get where they were and not to have them re-written to suit other eras of music.

Emm Gryner is a very talented artist. She has released quite a few albums of her own songs. I am happy to say I own almost all of her albums. She very consistently writes good material, so leave her alone

Wow! At first I was startled by this sound, but as I continued to listen...I loved it! You can really hear the passion in the lyric when it is slowed down. Her voice is so rich...it really brings another demension to the meaning of the song.

covers aren't suppose to be EXACTLY like the original.
you put your own thing into covers.
it shouldn't be the same as the original.
that would just be plain boring.
and i think this cover was pretty good.
i haven't heard a cover like this of the song.
but the scratches were kinda out of place i must say. but it was pretty creative.

What makes the original a hit (and all of Leppard's material) wasn't just the lyrics. In fact the actual lyrics aren't important at all. It was how it sound and fit in the context of the song. I wouldn't even call this a cover. It's a whole different song.

agreed. the acoustic cover of "hey ya" thats been floating around youtube was perfect because it exposed the depth to the song a lot of people overlooked and put it into a new context. she's tried to add a different dimension to the song that doesn't exist. great voice, great performance - poor choice of cover.

the only thing that really bothered me is the guy scratching, he's out of rhythm a few times and it should be less heard. Else its kickass, if they'd add a guitar to it thats fine. But I dont really think its necessary

I'm sorry I have no idea what the hell you guys are on about. This is possibly one of the coolest covers I have ever heard. Her tone patterns are in my oppinion awesome.
Sure she's changed the genre from the original song. But just because you only listen to rock music you cant say that she sucks. It's a very relaxing song.

yeah the issue a lot of people are having is that it's out of context. a lot of people complaining probably do in fact listen to things other than rock - you don't need a phd to listen to jazz.

She can sing, no doubt about that. But, this does nothing for the song. "Pour Some Sugar On Me" is meant to be sung in its original form. Way too slow for me.

Great voice but there's no similarity to the original song and this except she's singing the words. if she would have incorporated some of the same chords or notes into her piano, that would be different. Still, she's talented. You can't argue that at all.

Sorry but I grew up with Def Leppard and I always thought this song sucked and was overplayed. Her version adds an amazing new depth and beauty to the song. Try opening your mind and expanding your horizons!

i found it on limewire and iTunes; the CD is titled "Girl Versions" by Emm Gryner so you might be able to find it in an HMV or other music stores... hopefully

Quite an unsual spin on a song that has been heavily played. I think she deserves credit for her talent and passion, took guts to put this song out there like this, since PSSOM is a mega hit. Two thumbs up for stepping out of the box.

I agree, Emm is extremely gifted to take a song like that and turn it into her own. That's a great version of it! Love it! I'll buy it! There are other musicians like her, or not so like her, keeping your stuff out there whether they do their own version or cover versions and I know the crowd always loves to hear a Def Lep tune! this is an incredibly valid version of a pretty standard rock song .Emm has done to this what Joe Cocker did to the Beatles, proving the song good enough to be messed with. Emm is the most talented undiscovered talent in the whole of the world & one day we'll all catch up & wonder what all the fuss was ! at least she had the balls to do it & I as one of the writers of the song applaud her bravado 100% for doing this & I look forward to doing it live (again) with her at any given opportunity JE

I actually like it.. (Didn't think I would but I DO) You guys have to step back and really listen to it... DON'T think about the Leps Original or compare her to them. You can almost hear her soul through this song.... She's obviously talented, has a great passion for music and I give her a thumbs up! ......... P.S. I highly doubt SMC would be mortified over this version.... If anything I have a feeling he's smiling that their music is still touching folks through different genre's.. ~Peace~

Too bad not everyone gets the concept of this whole project!! Sad really! Spoken Word, Electronica/rock & pop thrown on a stage together to collaborate and jam! I was there, I saw them put it together on stage! Ummmm! It was hot! And there should be more of this coming our way! 3 genres, 3 bands, collaborating to make MUSIC!

Ok.. ALL of you are missing the point of this video! This is a project in whole, where we took 3 up and coming Canadian Bands & they collaborate.. You have Buck 65 and Holy F*ck doing! The concept is brilliant, and should be looked at, not comparing the song to Def Leppard's Version. I am a hard core Leppard fan... But I am also a fan of the concept of this Show..

I think he would appreciate it, she's taking a great song and making it her own. I'm sure he prefers it to be ROCKED out, but he's an artist, so is she, I think there would be some mutal respect...if you don't get it, that's ok, us artists stick together!!

She has a nice voice. That being said... I also have to disagree with Joe., it is very pitchy in spots. Common... This song was not meant to be played slow. I'd be impressed if I heard this version on American Idol maybe. Then again any D/L song on A/I would be cool!! Or the RockBand video game!!!!!

I don't know if I'd want this to listen to over and over in my personal collection, but it's an impressive adaptation nonetheless. It's as great as it could have turned out for such a weird match, and she's obviously very talented.

Dear Mr. Elliott: While I love you dearly and our taste in music is usually right on, I have to disagree with you here. The voice is decent, she is a good singer, but this song should never EVER be played at this pace. This sounds like something off of a Carnival Cruise! I hope to never hear this again. Just been on Def Leppard´s homepage. They recommended people to visit YouTube. Their comment is "Our good friend Emm Gryner has just done yet another fantastic version of POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME". I think that it´s a great comment. But as a Def Leppard-fan, nothing beats the real thing.

Wow! At first I was startled by this sound, but as I continued to listen...I loved it! You can really hear the passion in the lyric when it is slowed down. Her voice is so rich...it really brings another demension to the meaning of the song.
