I was born 1964 and was when this song was made famous by her. I got more familiar with this song as it was played as the finale song in a club which i worked as a waiter in 1984 where i met a girl that i really like her alot. Over the years i always make deliberate efforts to play and listen to this song. I remember how happy i was then. She is always in my heart, just like this song and its singer.

I was a little worried, but this rendition is just great!! I'm so glad this got posted (Thank You!) I was in elementary school when this song came out... 5th or 6th grade, I guess and guess where I live now? Downtown :-) Miss Clark is one of our consummate singers, she really knows what she's doing; her lower register, which isn't much in evidence in this song, is something to marvel at. Brava, indeed!

Moi je préfère la version en anglais " downtown " par contre en ce qui concerne " chariot " je préfère la version francaise plutot que la version italienne et encore moins la version anglaise " I will fallow him ". Par contre n'avait elle pas un rhume car sa voix est bizarre sur cette vidéo je trouve. merci en tout cas j'adore petula clark.

A l'époque on faisait une adaptation par principe et le résultat n'était pas toujours très heureux... Le tube d'origine est en anglais.

"Ciao ciao" pour la version italienne et "downtown" pour la version allemande... Votre commentaire m'a fait découvrir ces 3 autres versions (fr, it, ger) et la version anglaise est de loin la meilleure. Mais ce n'est qu'une opinion si on refuse l'idée qu'en général, on s'exprime toujours mieux dans sa langue maternelle.

Mais lorsqu’elle chante « Downtown » dans un pays francophone, c’est la version française que j’attends. Chez Drucker (pour Roger Moore), elle l’a chanté moitié en français, moitié en anglais. LOL Enfin ce n’est pas grand-chose, non ?

De plus la façon dont le texte a été écrit en Français... Comment dire? Je pense que la seule contrainte de l'adaptateur de la chanson était de remplacer "downtown" par quelque chose qui y ressemblait vaguement...

Je ne suis pas très objectif remarquez: je ne suis pas fan de ce courant qui prit fin avec Mireille Mathieu chantant en Duo avec Patrick Duffy...
