I love this movie. I don't see the reason Christian or not to bash others for their feelings this time of year. I'm a Christian and I don't see anything wrong with the gifts, decorations, and specials. Just remember what it really means to you and teach your kids that. I love to decorate and give gifts. Even the wise men gave gifts to Jesus. Just be who you are and honor your personal beliefs without slamming others.

I love this version of the Grinch better than the Jim Carry one. At least here, The Whos were a bit more down to earth and geniune, feeling that you actually learned a lesson from them, unlike where they completely changed them around and made them the opposite. Even though Cindy Lou was still in character it just ruined the rest of the story and the Whos for who they were suppose to represent. Those that truely understood and celebrate Christmas for all the right reasons.

Ron Howard made the who's represent the modern Commercialized Americans who think buying gifts is the way of christmas and gave the Grinch a good back story similiar to Willy Wonka's in the Johhny Depp version. Yeah, Jim carrey's performance is a bit over the top and there are goofy moments but so what. I like this movie as a "re-telling" of what is christmas message.

THe currrent celebration true is similar in many ways to The Feast of the Son of Isis. However the motivation behind them is very different. However due to time differences over the course of history Christmas should be on March 3rd-ish.

@57Lena1 That part has always touched me as well, but Christmas is also about giving and seeing the joy of a child's face (or anyone else's for that matter) when he or she receives something they were asking "Santa" for. I think commercialism, while being a nuisance to adults, is all about perspective. The real meaning of Christmas doesn't have to get lost amid the rush to buy presents. Don't forget, that there WERE presents in this cartoon. That part wasn't lost on the producers.

I often found it so odd that they seemed so totally oblivious to everything being taken away. I guess because in my head, the average person would freak out at such a thing.

The reaction in Ron Howard's film of The Grinch is moreso in line with what alot of normal people would do: trudge out feeling dejected.
