We also need to stop (right now) wasteful handout programs like medicare, social security, unemployment,, etc. and lower the minimum wage to $2/hr so we can compete with China for jobs. Three simple things we can do to lower the cost of healthcare, all of which come from republican politicians and thinkers (notably Newt Gingrich):
1)Remove the bans on buying insurance across state lines, this alone would lower costs.
2)Remove many of the required minimums in health insurance, this practice, combined with the ban on out of state insurance basically means we have insurance cartels enforced by the states themselves.
3)Switch from business provided plans to personal insurance.
Ryan - brilliant : "Most cynical" 21% cut on Medicare payment to doctors - love it - RYAN IS RIGHT ON - I work for a doc & we are waiting for the MCare cuts to start tomorrow. GOOD Docs are going to bail on MCare & patients will have to drive 50 miles to see doc & that doc will suck - the good ones will bail - it is only logical. MCare reimbursement barely covers service now. 21% we are out! OBAMA is INTENTIONALLY running the country into the ground. I can't see any other reason . . .
