  • Now I know how to turn my junk into a good gear :)

  • I just did it to my webcam. The filter for me was made of glass, and I had to smash the panel, which was rather small. I'm using the IF lights on my TrackIR unit.

  • It is possible by changing the lens only I have a Neox webcam that comes with infrared filter in its lens. Something that i have done was changing by aonther, without infrared filter.

  • How did you get the lens out so easily? Did you do it before filming? It seems as if mine is glued or something, it's not coming out that easily.

  • Hi!

What's the wavelength after I remove the IR filter?

  • With nightshot and my 1000nm IR FILTER you can even see through clothing (thin, snug fitting, synthetics) during the day. See my vid under video responses. Or see:

How to SEE THROUGH CLOTHES (X-RAY CAM - Before & After)

  • Great little project

  • Thanks sooooo much dude! I snuck into this rele hot girls house and did that to her web cam and told her to wear black when she went on oovoo with me and well...u know what happened....

  • i did this but my computer tries to correct it giving me like 10 fps :C

  • i have that webcam too

  • Work!!!! and with 0 lumex!!! 8O

  • cool stuff.

  • How do I do this with a built in cam?

  • @HTFFanOfFlaky easy...you dont you would kill your computer and lose its warranty

  • @HTFFanOfFlaky voided warranty, broken computer, and probably a useless webcam isnt worth it. just go buy a cheap one

  • Thanks sooo much, I have the same webcam. Im so glad i clickedn on this vid. thanks man.

  • Very cool. Thanks for the tip.

  • now my webcam it`s BROKE !!!!!! :(

  • ok, thank you sir

  • i tryed it worked very well thanks dude

  • i tried it it broken my webcam...

    =(

  • lol

  • With the DealExtreme-com DX 12-LED IR InfraRed Flashlight for $5.79 you can make a pretty decent FLIR (Forward looking infrared) device just like law enforcement/military/etc. There is a theory that if someone is wearing thin clothing you can see through it!

W/o this camera you can spot police helos using their FLIR w/o them noticing you watching them. Also if someone is using a laser bug (LASER EMAX-3500) on your house or a friend's house you can back track it to the source with this.

  • good!

  • whats the song?

  • AC/DC She's Got The Jack

    /watch?v=gm_o_oRICA4

  • I did something similar with a Canon Digital Rebel XT a couple years back, but I added a visible light filter in place of the factory filter. Takes some damn nice pictures.

  • Thats cool... thx

  • infrared is light in the spectrum that our eyes cant pick up. He is shooting the light source(infrared) from his tv remote at his head and the cam is using that light to convert the image to his computer screen.

  • What Did You ReplaceThe Filter With? And Where To And What To Get? I Think That's Cool For Security And Maybe Tracking Game.

  • this is just silly and no-one cares it just popped up after i had watched mine thts why i even found it

  • i have that cam :L

  • baka

  • You should look up the meaning of infrared.

  • thats not infrared

  • Yeah it is. He clearly states in the video that you need an infrared light source, but he has infact turned the camera into an "infrared camera" by removing that filter.

  • ... stupid

  • whats the point of this vid...

  • omg i broke my web cam

  • lol me to

  • lol.. oops :L

  • @kkeuankk

    lol

  • Nice! i have the same camera, did the mod a couple years back, it's cool!

  • cool thing....

  • Nice try. Keep it up check out esteembpo + com for social media marketing. erryytuoop

  • You can use the extracted IR-filter (0:37) in a green laser, if you want to.

  • thats what I wanted to do exactly

    lol

  • Hey I have an extremely similar webcam, the GE Easycam 98063. The outside looks a bit different but the guts look exactly the same. Only you'll want to make an IR flashlight because remotes don't produce a steady stream of light, they blink.

  • omg i voided my warranty lol

  • Interesting, nice vid, good visual aid, and even better sound track. Good job.

  • acdc rock on

  • do u know if cheap modern cameras now have this removable filter? or can u buy IR cams? wot makw was urs pls?

  • yes they do. Just make sure you don't buy a really compact camera. It has to be similar to the one u saw in the vid.

  • dude i have the same cam do you knw who to improve the picture

  • I have two of these exact same cameras and I tried it on one. It WorKs!! thanks a lot man. I tested it w/ a remote just like you did and got the same results.

  • what model webcam? I really want to try this but seems like all modern webcams have the darn IR filter glued on to the photo sensor. :(

  • get ya remote and point it at the cam then press a button, if ya see a light its all good (looking at the remote on the comuter)

  • can i do this project to nowdays standard webcam?...is it,.this nowdays webcam has their own build in ir filter inside them??...

  • I honestly have no idea. The camera I used for this video, more than a year ago, was already many years old at the time.

  • Its usually painted on. Use a small screwdriver to scratch it off. Use a wet cotton swab to clean the scratched side.

  • @budakengineer This can be done with any CCD/CMOS silicon based sensor, but different camera manufacturers have different chips and sensitivities.

  • Works!

  • You forgot to tell us that if you remove the fillter that day or night you will see black and white.

  • If you remove the filter, you will see black and white all the time. In fact, using the camera in visible light will be nearly useless.

  • i don't have to do anything for my webcam to see IR. it's even come with it's own IR illumination leds...

  • They all see IR, but on most you can extremely increase the amount of IR light seen by removing the filter if there is one.

  • What is the brand and type of that cam?

and there's a way modifing the circuits to use it without a pc as night vision google?

  • It was a really old logitech web cam. I don't recall the model number. I have no idea how to use it without a pc.

  • Ok thanks

  • If you search for other videos you should find some goggle applications. Most involve using a camcorder and performing the same operation to remove the IR filter, and then mounting it on your head with the lcd near your eyes

  • Great video, and I bought the same camera and did the same thing. Just out of curiosity, what video software did you use to put this together? Thanks.

  • Adobe Premier Elements 3.0

  • blue light shawshank redemption

  • my web cam dosent work.. the lens covering the red pieve is sealed i dont wanna break it

  • Can I do the same thing with a digital camera?

  • yo people!! the light is coming from the little diode censor in front of his remote (every remote). we cannot see it because our eyes are not capable of seeing into the infrared part of the electromagnetic spectrum... we can only see visible light which is infact only a fraction of the entire spectrum. his camera has IR/nightvision capabilities, thus displaying IR light, simple as that.

  • Guys should get an EYE TOY camera (usb camera for the PS2) and find drivers online to connect to PC. You do NOT need to remove any internal Hot Mirror (infrared cut off filter)-(in fact the eyetoy's is not accessible) Just go into the SETTINGS control of the camera (while connected and running) and adjust the CONTRAST................you heard it from me "XrayCam" First.....Muahahahaha :)

  • Also.....the EYETOY has wonderful recording abilities (video looks GREAT) makes a NICE webcam!!! Have Fun :)

  • yeah it was my first web cam

  • can ppl see the lighT? or is it just like a flashlight?

  • The infrared light source, in this case a television remote control, is invisible to the naked eye.

  • This video was awesome until the troll-thing popped out like in that car video. Scared the living hell out of me.

  • ???????/

  • The troll at the end, he's green and stuff. You never saw the car video where it begins "listen very carefully, turn your sound up ..." and then a hideous looking whatever-you-call-it pops out and scares the piss out of you?

Same thing with this video. Whatever that thing is at the end is .. just wow.

  • uh... o_o; i dont see.. anything.. .... ..

  • At 1:24?

  • lol. Good vid though

  • Thanks mate.

  • thanks for great tip. That cover was quite hard to take out. i had to break a bit out of focus screw, but now it works fine!

  • well well ,24hours at night.

  • ok i did it, the cover on the filter was glued, also, its not really that good as it still wont record on total darkness

  • Very interesting!

  • i have tried that but it just wont come out (the plastic cover)

  • i have the same cam but i cant get the ir filter out it seems to be in between the two lenses how did you get it out?

  • You have to remove the clear plastic protective cover (done in the video at :30) then pop out the cut filter. The cut filter on this camera is a square piece of glass. It should just fall right out. The protective cover I had to ply out with a tiny flat-head screw driver.

  • omg nice trick
