@Unlegitable well it could have been this type jet maybe.....at the time i flew i was young and didn't think anything of that. Hope one day to fly over the atlantic and to europe again.
Nikolas920302 Oh, Relax!!! Ain't nothing wrong with any aircraft being 30 to 40 years old just as long as it's well maintained, You need to stop being so damn hesitant & just get out on the edge once in a while because if you don't, You're not really living!!!
I flew L1011's across the Atlantic from CYYZ to EGCC I don't know how many times. Flew with British Airways, Worldways, Airtransat. Safe, safe aircraft. a pilots aircraft. Not like the plastic jobbies nowadays. Fuel efficiency? Ba humbug, I'll take steel and safe anyday.
@TheUKCanadian I am thinking that it was a L1011 I flew on from New York to Amsterdam back in 1988 on Royal Jordanian Airlines. Was there any other planes at the time Royal Jordanian could have used for Trans Atlantic flights from us to europe?
@pug201010 Neither Cathay nor Dragonair's Tristars ever operated from CLK. The airport started operation in 1998 after the Tristars had been gone from both CX and KA. This one probably was from Kampuchea Airways or one of those 2nd line carriers that took over Tristars 2nd hand from big carriers.
to Nickolas920302: the TriStar war built between 1970-1984. Cathay had the type till mid/end of the 90ies in their fleet and other main carriers till the beginning of 2000s. the TriStar is still today one of the safest airliner worldwide. a excellent maintainced TriStar is much better then one of the ComputerAirliners of these days. Fuel prices and expensive maintanence costs were the killers of the TriStars, DC10s and first Jumbos. Long live the TriStar!!!
@Nickolas920302 The chronological age of the aircraft is less important than the number of takeoffs and landings it has performed, the maintenance it has received, and the conditions in which it spent most of the time on the ground. A 25-year-old, low-"cycle," well-maintained aircraft that was based in Phoenix, Arizona could very well be in better condition than a 15-year-old Hawaii island hopper spending most of its life in salt air, making eight landings per day.
@Nickolas920302 You would be surprised how old most of the aircraft in the skies are. I flew on a DC10-30 back in 2007. It's not like we use the same parts everytime. After so many hours of flying, the entire aircraft is torn down to just the bare skeleton of the airframe and EVERYTHING is inspected and replaced/overhauled as needed...
@Nickolas920302 L-1011 was one of the best airplanes built...for pilots and passengers. I would feel safer on an L-1011 with direct back-up controls than the fly by wire aircraft anyday.
Love that Sound, can put me to sleep use to fly on L1011 soooo much back in the day.

any old aircraft is just as good as brand new 1, its just that old 1's r more scarce for spare parts and rely on maintenance more.

I got a question for you, how can you fly with this such of aircraft? it's was build in 1970 and went out of service since 1986.
I'll not or never fly this aircarft, kind of scared because it's to old.
