  • Good Idea, but a better one is to do reverse curls with the towels around the bar.

  • This SOUNDS like a good idea, but I'd be concerned that it's taking away the full impact that you would normally get on the Bicep or Tricep exercise. I'll have to give it a try and see.

  • It's called unstable muscle working. That involves more muscle fibers so you have a better workout for the same amount of time.

  • @MrYeahwee it doesn't work for everyone, i trippled my curling,bench,pullup and deadlift strength in a year and there is almost no progress in my forearms.

    now i got problems lifting more and build more muscle mass doing bench press and deadlift because of my grip.

    isolation exercised do work and do help!

  • The barbell curl using the towels, is a terrible way to exercise the forearms. Here is why: First, there is absolutely NO WRIST FLEXION occuring here. The 3 primary muscle on the inside of your forearm are NOT being engaged! By gripping the towels, you ARE engaging your finger flexors (flexordigitorumsuperficialis and flexordigitorum profundis), but only isometrically. That's not a bad thing, but if you want those muscles to grow, your fingers must flex through a full range of motion.

  • I'm 34 and about 2years ago I was considered by everyone who knew me as one skinny mother fucker, but thats only because everyone in UK is a fat wanker I suppose, however, now am I built like a brick shit house and strangers ask me from time to time if I'm a rugby player. ps, I am all natural and I don't take any drugs or supplements. I am dedicated to the gym, it's not a fad, because before I was a long distance runner for 20 odd years or so.

  • if u want and exercise that isolates forearms. look up wrist rollers. a lot of u have prolly seen them, u hold the wrist roller and u roll up the long rope that holds a weight around it. otherwise u can just squeeze ur forearms when doing bicep curls (dont need towel)

  • you know what's ironic? i bought your prime program Optimun Anabolics, and you completely left out the forearms. On tuesdays, arm day, only 4 exercises for the upper arm, 2 for biceps and 2 for triceps. no forearm. i feel that i get a better workout for my forearms during back day.
