Leo Burnett actually did 2 commercials, Camp Nippersink and "No Place Like Out". They were shot out of Gainesville, Florida. Both aired during summer months. I have seen Camp Nippersink, but have not ever seen No Place Like Out. I was in the commercial and would love to find it!
i'd forgotten about this commercial until a coworker told a student last week that he looked like "quack quack waddle waddle" in his yellow slicker. Then the whole chant came back to me, just like that.
@elithecat thank you for posting the video. I have a copy that is still on a VHS tape so to be able to have peace of mind that is on Youtube is a beautiful thing. Thank you so much. I have a huge scrapbook that my mom made during the making. Maybe I will make a video of all the treasures and send it your way.
@SuperGamer68...I am so happy to know that you enjoyed this commercial. It is such a gift to see all of these wonderful comments. It puts joy in my heart. No...that is not me...I am the one drinking the soda with the straw...my name is Adina
I too have thought about this commerical over the years. It's hard to get the..."Quack, quack, waddle, waddle" out of your head. :) I've mentioned the commercial numerous times over the years to others and nobody seemed to remember it. Glad to know I'm not crazy. Try performing that when you're in your late 30's. Thanks guys.
I've been looking all over for this commercial! Thank you for posting it. It has stuck with me all these years because of the "quack quack waddle waddle" -- I was in a play as a child where we were all toys and one of the other toys was a stuffed duck and for some reason the two memories are tied very much together.
I was in preschool when this came out... the perfect age to pretend you're a duck! We all wanted to be the blonde with the snaggletooth smile who got a french fry in exchange for her cool idea. How FUN that at least two of you from the commercial are reading these comments!!! Thank you for your contribution to my childhood. : ) : ) : ) What year was this done? I'm guessing 1981. I was four.
oh lord. I am old old old. First of all did it just say "celebrating 35 years" get out of town. I was like 7 when this was on. and I remember that song by heart. Oh what a wonderful world we used to live in. GO old school tv for marketing to just kids on saturday mornings :)
@phoenixmoon3 In 1989 McDonalds was celebrating their 35th anniversary by showing retro commercials. I don't know the exact year this commercial aired, but watching it was one of my very first memories (I was born in 1977) and so it would have probably been around 1980, 1981...
The girl with the braids was my across the street neighbor at the time. I remember seeing this when it came out and thinking how cool it was that she was in it.
I knew I'd find this commercial here! I just saw a clip of it on another TV Show (Titans of Taste on Food Network) and came looking. I'm the one who said "Hey you guys, ever played Wack Wack Waddle Waddle" I remember you Swan! It's been a long time :)
Karinagurney...oh my goodness..my long lost nippersink buddy..how are you. I would love to chat.....are you saying that you recently saw a clip of our commercial on TV?
This has always been my favorite McD's commercial. I am probably only slightly older than you two. All I really remembered was the duck walk at the end. mmm, I'm hungry for a Big Mac, now...
I was in this commercial and love the fact that you like it so much. It was my 1 minute of fame that most everybody does not get to have in their life and the fact that you like it so much makes me feel better as a person. Thank you!!!
I am the one with the long brown hair, eating a hamburger and drinking out of a straw. Thanks for asking. I love that people are watching the commercial and enjoying it.
It was so much fun filming! The McDonald's was located in Gainesville, FL. I was one of the two girls running in the rain in the very beginning. So many fun memories. I remember our light brown t-shirts that said camp nippersink. I think I still have mine.
Then I guess I was with you running in the rain in the beginning because I was also one of the girls in the begining going down the stairs. Good to see so many of us still so proud of what we did 26 years ago.
I was in this commercial too. I am so happy to see it again. They need to get all the girls together again to remake the commercial! I had such a fun time doing this commercial.
I was in the commercial and I remember when we were filming us sitting at the table eating I began to eat my hamburger upside-down and it fell apart during filming and the director got so mad and I thought that it was because of me. I also remember that part of the commercial they had to produce the rain themselves with hoses on the roof because the weather would not cooperate. Belive me...I remember it being very cold that day..our boots filed up with water constantly.

My FAVORITE McDonald's commercial...The Double Dutch one and the Little Sister one are 2nd and 3rd.
But this one ALWAYS stuck with me, when I was a kid and if we were out in the rain, I would sing their Nippersinker's chant.
