  • From our French crooner Sacha Distel, even Frankie Ol' Blue eyes reprised it, not bad

  • real sexy voice...

  • I remember the british airways commercial, they need to bring it back

  • Julie London... she was the whole package. There are certain songs that she sings that makes one feel as though she is singing to u and u only. Then again, maybe that's what we want to think. Rest in peace Julie and know u are always remembered.

  • amazing voice!

  • When Bethlehem Steel opened the Burns Harbor In. plant, in 1965, they threw a celebration ( dedication ) and Julie was the headliner. What a time , long ago.....

  • What a great song !

  • great song

  • What a gorgeous voice--just like melted chocolate!

  • I believe Betty Carter is the original singer of this song...

  • @cojoification Betty Carter recorded it in August 1962 . Not sure when Tont Bennett recorded his version but he released a single of it early in 1963 - it wasnt a big hit - # 18 in the USA. Betty Carter`s version was eventually released in 1963 on her album Round Midnight.

  • wonderfull!

  • Guys and dolls listen to Bobby Darin's perform on this song.IT IS THE BEST!!

    Bobby reigns.....forever......

  • in my opinion, julie london was the best female singer, during the 50ies and the

    60ies. a very classy woman!

  • @KelGhu

Thanks for the correction. Correct credit must be given where credit is due. I was right about the film though. The song was written expressly for the French film "The Seven Deadly Sins", which is where I first heard and loved it back in 1962.

  • OMG. I just love her voice and those times. I wish I had lived in her era and stay and listen to her songs while I have a good life.

  • Thank you.

  • SO DAM SEXY!

  • Man only Julie London can sing this song just this way.

  • great

    thanks

  • @bronxboy47 No, it's by Sasha Distel.

  • never heard a female singer sing this. very nice

  • yeeeeeeeee

  • Bobby Darin did the best version of this song.

  • What an utterly gorgeous voice she had.

A superb vocalist and as enjoyable today as 50 years ago.

    Thank you.

  • Is this her song or tony bennett's

  • Absolutely beautiful!

  • Poor ol you Vera let's hope you meet a wealthy man who cares'.....lol Marguerita

  • What a wonderful song by a wonderful singer.

  • Julie London was a REAL singer; why, oh why, did rock 'n' roll have to ruin it all?

  • just picked up this cd special order around 20 bucks it wonderful so many song.if not for this site would never had known how many wonderful songs she had performed.....

  • How i love this song. Velvety and oh so lush.

  • It doesn't really matter who wrote what on this song. The music and lyrics are so good that just about anyone who either plays or sings is going to sound beautiful. The only other tune that I can think of that approaches this kid of quality is "Three 'O Clock in the Morning"--Frank Sinatra had the best version but, like this one, is wonderful for whoever does it.

  • I love this song...so full of atmospheres, and feelings...

  • This is awesome, not performed these days Tony Bennet?? frank Sinatra ( not sure )

Always dug Julie since the 60 s

  • Fabulous!!!

  • my favorite song of all time tony b does a good job but this is timeless.first heard this on my first plane ride ,on aa back in yhe 60s ever time i hear it im reminded how much i use to love to fly. no more. she is beautiful

  • 1:59 ... Maybe it's just me but where she says "Please remember, I still want you, and in case you wonder why..." I get goosebumps, I love how her voice gets and the music rises. o.o

  • @tadakatsu14 not just you :)

  • @tadakatsu14 isnt that weird

  • @tadakatsu14 mean take in a good way

  • lol yeah :P

  • @tadakatsu14 Whenever you get goosebumps listening to a musician, you know they're are doing it right. ;)

  • @tadakatsu14 listen to Julie's "Go Slow" and u will need to take a cold shower

  • great. just great

  • Her smoky voice is so unbelievable and very nice('◇')ゞ

  • That was really wonderful.

  • I love this song. It made feel the life can be really good even under recession

  • Oh,

    It gave me goose bumps.

    wow

    You are great lady Lodon.

    f

  • beautiful

  • one of the best singers by a mile

  • frm the british airways t5 advert!!

  • look for sammy davis jr's version on you tube

  • cool singing... not to mention she must've been worth one in her hay day!

  • right im really uncertain as to who wrote this, was it tony or julie?

  • Tony Bennett recorded it first all the ones following are covers including this one. =)

  • Actually, Sacha Distel (Fr.) composed the music for this song ("La Belle Vie"). The English lyrics were written by Jack Reardon.

  • @vera342

You are not even remotely right. The original is from a french songwriter, Sasha Distel. The original title is "La Belle Vie". Tony Bennett's is a cover too.

  • @vera342

It's originally a French song '' La Belle vie'' written by French jazz guitarist, pop singer and playboy Sacha Distel, who was Btrigite Bardot's boyfriend and a good friend of Frank Sinatra... They would meet in Monte Carlo when Frank came to visit Grace Kelly. Voilà ..'' the good life'' indeed .

  • Neither of them wrote it, I don't think. TB may have recorded it first, but this is a fab cover.

  • @johnnie160 Sacha Distel was the composer. He wrote it in french, and also sang it. But believe me. The version in englhish is much better, and also, much better the ones, that made a good version. Tony Bennett, the best, and many others. nelly 7412

  • @nelly7412 many thanks!

  • ahaa! it was tony bennet! i thought so!

  • didn't a bloke do a cover of this many years ago? cant remember who it was tho.

  • With her voice, she reaches inside and takes my heart in her hands and doesn't let go.

    Transcendent!

  • I heard this on that British Airways commercial and wanted to know who was singing..thanks for posting it.

  • OMG thank you for posting this. I wanted to know who sung this version since I heard it in the commercial like a YEAR ago. Thank you thank you thank you.

  • man i wish this song was longer. it's so good! they don't make 'em like this anymore....

  • Outstanding

  • What a beautiful lady, and gorgeous voice!

  • beautiful

  • Thanks for posting. One of the best songstresses ever. Simple, clear, clean vocals. Not trying to warblize the tune like most of the female singers today. Too bad.

  • it was originally done by tony bennett

  • Thank u SO MUCH for uploading this. Like you, I saw the London Terminal 5 commercial and the second it went off I was frantically looking for this song on Youtube and everywhere else and it's pretty hard to find online. Then I found it on Rhapsody, but I'm glad u put it on Youtube! X-) I am a new Julie London fan because of this song/commercial.

  • london terminal 5

  • I love music like this, slow and jazz-ish. Songs like this make me think of Christmas.

  • yeah me too.. one of my favorites sung by her is "I'd Like You for Christmas"

  • Funny you should say that - I just put this song in a holiday CD mix. I totally agree. BTW, Julie London is the bomb!! What a great voice, and her phrasing is exceptional.

  • wow, she was hot back in the day...and what a smokin hot voice!!

"Rampart, this is Squad 51; how do you read?"

    Sorry...I couldnt resist!

  • You'll never think of it the same way again! Yowza.

  • yep! ;)

  • HOT !!!

  • The only music for me i must say

  • if you really listen to the lyrics the song is rly sad

  • Her voice , the music keep running that tune in my brain. Beautiful song!

  • this is REAL music, love it...

  • I found this song via iPhone, I LOVE SHAZAM!

  • I always regarded this song as a "signature" song from Tony Bennett, but Julie's version is very, very nice. Of course, given the choice between spending time with Julie or Tony, I'd choose the former... (:

  • i'm in love...really..i wish i knew her

  • The second I heard this song on the British Airways commercial I HAD to know who this voice belonged to. The quality of her voice, the sultriness, sexiness, the intimate feel... just incredible. I was stunned to know that Julie London was the actress on the TV hit "Emergency!", one of my favorite shows while growing up! She's so lovely; bless her heart. Thanks for sharing! Blessings to you, ~ShadesOfBlue

  • This IS music.....beautiful......and the British Airways ad that used this song....what an ad....what class. I wish times like this were here again.

  • This song is absolutely gorgeous. Like everyone else, I assume, I heard this from the British Airways commercial myself and fell in love with it. Thank you so much for uploading this tune. :-)

  • P.S. Where's the piano run that's in the commercial?? I didn't hear it on here. Too bad. It's sooo pretty when those keys are tickled like that!

  • This song is absolutely gorgeous. The instrumentation is so pretty and her voice is just awesome. Whenever I see the BA commercial, all that I can do is smile. This song takes you to the stars on a clear night. I wish that more music was produced like this today.

  • so true, its one of those feel-good songs you listen to after a long day. this would be a good mix with some good slow sax music songs too. *sighs, and a glass of red wine and some italian* :)

  • I luv the piano thing at the end of the commercial...but it's not on here :(

  • Yeah when I purchased the song I was hoping to hear that part but I guess it was something that British Airways added. A nice little touch. =)

  • Definitaly =D

  • oh this is it! From the first time I heard it on the commercial, I thought - I have to find that! Thanks so much for providing it :)
