Whoever started the act of cheering during a song and whoever is responsible at Idol for hitting the applause sign button should be removed from this planet (I'm trying to be non-violent here). It totally ruins the song. I want to hear the music, not applause or screaming. Save it for when the song is over! Take a lesson from a symphony audience. It's not about you!

Another wonderful artist (though she doesn't sound smoky, but has one of the most amazing voices EVER) who also did this song is Melissa Polinar. She has such a beautiful puretone that you can't help but be moved to tears.

This performance was so awesome I don't have words to describe how GREAT she sang this song. It was soulful, her runs were sick and it was so effortless. Plus she gave it a rough edge but it was still emotional and tender. BRILLIANT!!!!

An outrageous cover of one of the best songs ever written. Bonnie Raitt would be proud. (she sang it, but didn't write it). A very difficult song to sing and this 17 year blows it away. Very impressive and Simon was off the mark as usual regarding the personal stuff. When he forms an opinion about someone personally, they're finished.
