while the US concentrated on making reasonably accurate rifles with a high rate of fire. the germans concentrated on making rifles with amazing accuracy. the aim (no pun) for the germans was to have their infantry be able to shoot accurately and let their mg teams do the surpressing
@shadow0imposter who loads with the safety on? LOL If you don't intend to shoot the gun for a while. you click the safety on after you load it, however we were shooting right then, so we didn't need the safety's.
k98 more stopping power and more accurate...... m1 garand lighter and faster firing less reliable and pings when mag pops out......... medium and close range=garand.......medium and long range 98k
How the hell is the K98 more accurate? The M1 Garand is by FAR much more accurate, being that the M1 Garand has a higher muzzle velocity and more advanced sights. Stopping power is irrelevant with high powered rifle cartridges; it doesn't matter if it's a 30-06 or a 8mm Mauser, the target will drop.
Looks like the mauser kicks more than the m1 - all around the Garand is a far superior weapon. I have a 4/45 Garand and it is pretty sweet! nice video!
@bgepp You cant compare the K-98 with the Garand, of course the Garand is superior, its a far more modern design, its like comparing a piston airplane with an early Jet, but the G-43 would be a nice comparison, and the STG 44 would be a comparison with a m-16
@untmortadela Yes you can compare them, true the K-98 is only a bolt action, but they were the 2 main weapons pitted against each other in the European part of WWII. The G-43 vs. the M1 would be very awesome, but I don't own one yet. :( The STG would not compare to the M-16 even the original M-16 is still much newer, I would compare the STG 44 to it's descendant, the Ak-47 instead.
@gogdee Am talking about the technology factor, not the age one.Of course the two battle against each other on the fields of europe, but then you will have a huge unbalance, its like compare the Tiger with a Sherman.... Or a Heinkel with a B-17....You just cant do it.And yeah, i exagerated the Ak would fit much better for the STG, but again, the americans wouldnt have a counterpart (unless its the M1) and this comparison would be unballanced.Awsome vid by the way!
@TheAlexander8898 In WWII the pistols were supplied with 7rd. mag.s but now most 1911's have 8rd.s same size mag. but reconfigured to hold another rd. :)
@RenegadeAssaultSquad I got my gun about 3 years ago on sale for Christmas. It is the 'German K98k Rifle, Collector Grade with German Markings from WWII' that is now $599. But I paid $399 for mine. :)
@gogdee Awww, man. Wish I couldve had that deal! Would you ever recommend anything below that grade? Like the cheap one? Cause I could spare $300, but not $600
@RenegadeAssaultSquad As long as it's stock isn't cracked and the bolt and barrel are good adn clean, Then you should be fine, I've seen nice looking K-98s sold for $300. Just choose carefully, look at the years and were they were made. The German ones have the highest re-sell value. :)
question about the 98K, if you load a stripper clip, will it pop out when the bolt is pushed forward? or does you have to pull the clip out manually every time?
@bsrman36 Nah you have to pull it out by hand. Also when you push the rounds in, make sure you push on the rounds because if you push on the clip it can get wedged in there and it's a pain in the butt to get it out.
@bsrman36 No, you can close the bolt and the clip will pop out. That's what I do everytime and that's how it was meant to be done. Sometimes you need to give it a hard shove though.
proud owner of the m1 garand same for the colt 1911

I'd go with m1 garand, but if i were in the war, i'd go with Germany: mp40, stg44, g43, luger, and tiger tanks all the way!

@AGeekWithAShotgun it's all opinion really, I find it easier to target things with iron wedge sights over peephole sights but that's just me. :)
gogdee 10 months ago
@gogdee
You have to give the edge to the peephole sight though, being that it is more accurate and has a longer sight radius.
AGeekWithAShotgun 10 months ago
@AGeekWithAShotgun either way, I find the peephole is easier to use and faster to bring up in a hurry but for sniper work I prefer the 'wedge'.
