  • can you imagine her playing the big dinner jazz clubs and piano bars of vegas , los angeles and new york... she seem even more comfortable doing these old classics as she does with country... one of the greatest female talents of all time.... nashville had to be out of their monds to let her get away.......

  • Suzy's ask me to marry her. To dream ah to dream!!

  • agree with tomtowle,, I have never seen any performer with the suttle facial expressions that add so much to the message of the song... just incredible.... will see her live in georgia first of next year !!!!

  • very relaxed and warm delivery. And what killer side men!

  • What a natural, sweet voice. So much better than the fake, auto-tune pop singers from today.

  • Great lineup! Beautiful version of this classic!

  • This gal should have gone a lot farther up the totem pole I think. Very enjoyable to watch her, and Chet must have believed in her too.

  • Thank you Chuck for this wonderful video. So much talent on one stage - what a joy to watch!

  • apart from suzys magic magic voice she has the most lovely eyes and legs too

  • @paulboon This clip is from a series on the Nashville Network called The American Music Shop. It aired twice every Saturday night back in the day when CMT actually played Suzy's videos.

  • I thoroughly enjoy this clip every time I watch it... Suzy has captured my heart and so many years after this was recorded, too. Can anyone please tell me when it was recorded?

  • How does she manage to get even prettier each time I return to this clip? To watch these performers enjoy themselves so much makes this such a joy to watch/listen to. Her voice is one I am so glad I discovered even at this later point in my life. Thanks so much to whoever posted this.............

  • A great singer nice song i love Chets solo the cd is a lot better than this video

  • if someone has sweeter , clearer , more brilliant voice than Suzy ,,,,,,,please please tell me who.

  • Sure is a pleasure to listen to this great tune. I have never heard of Suzy, she's just swept me off my feet with her voice, talent and great looks!! Of course the rest of the gang are fantastic musicians.

  • She was above the Nashville They don't like some body that can show up what they think is a star .....That is the reason nashville has lost to Branson and to Texas ..go on with your pop ...

  • Big smile on my face!!!

  • Not only does she sound good, she looks good too!

  • Watered down

  • First time I've ever seen Chet dance.. He really can do it all.

  • Hi, what a wonderful singer and the guitarists help a bit! really wonderful. I suppose that this is another Chet album I will have to put on my wants' list. I bought my first back in the 1950s and they all sound so fresh, never brash to the ear.

  • It's such a shame Suzy's career peaked early and quickly nosedived. She has such a wonderfu voice. Instead of branching off into new directions (such as this video you are enjoying right now), she stayed on the dead-end street of country. Modern country music business is aimed at a demographic of people with a very short attention span...hence the simple lyrics, the 3-chord melodies, and a constant demand for new product and the shelving of anything more than a month old. Such a waste of talent

  • Great singing and beautiful pickin, every thing Chet plays on is fantastic.

  • WOW! Just WOW!

  • Suzy is a Hot MoFo.

  • Suzy's voice is truly a wonderful gift. What a pleasure to listen to and original and pure country.

  • @submarine576 "Pure country"?? This is a standard played by jazz musicians for years. The incredible Chet Atkins, like Les Paul, could play anything and give it a treatment to make it sound like a different genre.

  • Adoro este vídeo e desde 2007 o vejo. Umas 500 vezes. Muito obrigada a quem o postou. Maravilhoso!

  • The best it can get...Bill Futrell

  • There is a lesson in this for all of you. Notice that Chet doesn't have to play ALL THE TIME!!! He plays when it's HIS TURN! and doesn't play over anyone else.

Suzy sounds wonderful on this song from Chet's album entitled 'Read My Licks'.

  • bogus

  • Brilliant song beautifully sung.Check out the brilliant"One more for the road" with Chet

  • I keep coming back to this video.......excellent!

  • she looks so hot in that short skirt

  • Why is she dressed lika a waitress ... ?

  • Classic song, great jazz . . . thanks for posting.

  • I'm so glad you posted this, I have this song on a CD, but never knew who the female was on the Chet, CD. Great voice. I'm in love. Love Chet also., I still have my first guitar, 64' Gretsch Chet Atkins Tennessean. Thanks again for the post.

  • I would well imagine that Suzy has really missed Chet these past few years. He was a natural for her to sing her songs with, and I bet he encouraged her a lot and gave her what she needed in this time frame to be a huge success. What a blessing for them both, to have combined so much talent.

  • Yep...Nowadays Country Music just tosses the Suzy Bogguss's aside....

  • @catndryer Yeah, in favor of a shallow imitation of an entertainer like Taylor Swift. Sorry guys. Taylor is pretty, and she'll never have to actually work a day in her life. But she can't hold a candle to Suzy.

  • i have some new videos of chet atkins and 2 with chet and tommy emmanuel hit my name up if you like thanks

  • no doubt about it...Chet was a class act all the way all the time

  • Look at her facial expression at 0:22. True mark of a great vocalist is getting into character by expressing the emotion of the lyrics, not just mouthing the words. She does this a number of times.

  • Hey now, Suzy !!!! Great Stuff.

  • I need to go and dig out my Suzy Bogguss cds again for another listen. She has a great voice.

  • 100% pure talent.what a dish and can she sing..chets the best and all the musicians...TOPS

  • could not make music like that in england if our live depended on lt..brilliant

  • Superb. Thanks for posting.

    Best wishes

    Metairie Road

  • I'm in love.........

  • Key of???????? hmmmmmmmmm Awesome Key of an angel<<<Just sayin

  • A classic song perfomed by many.... with some country legends..... Suzi Bogguss is pure and true and seals the deal here.... such a beautiful song. The truly great ones make it seem so simple.... after you've gone away......

  • It is country music it is suppose to be sappy and syrupy. The Song is a great being performed by Chet and Suzy.

  • @ForeverAnalog Wow, nice to see my comment was rated down so low. I was paying them a compliment! !

  • I LOVE Suzy..& I am picky bout "chick" singers. I wish I could sing like >>>her. Awesome, beautiful, & I never say this BUT my hero gurlie singer. ;0) PS: Where are you??? Keep em comin Suzy

  • Absolutely a top knotch performance

  • What a beautiful woman!!!

  • !!Tres bon groupe!! Bon continuation

  • yes it was before 1920..but so many big bands took it to the charts!

She reminds me (physical) of Mary Tyler Moore!

This is a great song...I think it was in a Steve Martin/Lily Tomlin movie too, wasn't it? NO...sorry..that one was "Why not take all of Me"...Ellington's rendition is great on that one...those saxophone vibrato!

  • It was a blues song from much earlier than the '40s! Look up Bessie Smith's rendition. :-)

  • This was actually a Jazz song from the 40's. I like how they countryfied it.

  • I remember I was stunned by Suzy's voice when I first heard the album she did with Chet. What I really like about her voice is that she doesn't try to imitate anyone else - it doesn't sound strained in any way.

And how cool to find this on YouTube! :-)

  • The only complaint I have about Suzy is that she's not been prolific enough. I wonder whose fault that is? A singer of this talent should have 10 or 15 albums out by now. She's in the top 10 best female vocalists ever.

  • Suzy Bogguss is a truly beautiful woman...just the right amount of meat on her bones, plus one of the best voices you could wish to listen to. Bugger size zero...I want Suzy !!

  • Nice legs too!

  • for all the talent on stage, this is unfortunately a very "Muzak-y" version of what should be a hell of a swingin' song.

  • Chubby, Chet and Cinderella!

  • A friend of mine sang this song at a vocal jazz concert. She died last night in a drunk-driving accident. I just wanted to let everyone know how horrible drunk-driving is and how much i miss my friend. This is for you Kate.

  • sweeeeet sound

  • If I ever woke up next to Suz.... I think I would lock the door and make it last forever!!!!!1

  • She has n newer album ( it's different than what your used to hearing from her ) I got it at AMAZON. I really liked it.

  • Great singer and great looking along with some of the best of the old timer CW players. Chet Atkins knew he had a jewel with Suzy.

  • This was the first time I remember hearing and seeing Suzy. Not only is she drop dead gorgeous,I don,t think a bad note or sweet sound has ever escaped her lips, and may it never happen! ever!

  • Absolutely flawless! Suzy is one of the few singers that has the same high level of musicianship as the virtuosos she is singing with.

  • i love this version

anyone knows where i can get this music sheet?

  • nice legs

  • nothing about the talent on stage? Sorry but as a musician, I really only care about the quality of the music. I'm not interested in her legs or any of the other musicians on stage legs unless they are showing musical talent.

  • I heard this song on the radio the other day--a 1929 recording by Louis Armstrong. It had its charms, but this version by Suzy and Chet is more elegant. Does anyone have the video of the song "Forget About It" that immediately followed this on the show? If so, please post it. That was a great performance by Suzy and Chet too. Alison Krauss covered the song later on her album of the same name.

  • It cannot get better than this unless you get Fred Astaire to do the dancing!

    How about Johnny Gimble?

  • lovely...thanks for posting

  • Suzy has such a pure voice and beautiful smile. She makes it look effortless. Everyone looks like they are having fun.

  • There is no smoother music than this combo.... Suzy's voice is as clear as Chet and Johnny's playing, too. I think she just gets prettier.

  • Chet was one hell of a good guitar player. He was always a quiet humble person. Suzy Bogus has a good singing voice.

  • Just amazing!!!!! great mussicians! great voice, and very cool arrangements.

    Congratulation!

  • Well, this is one of my favorites!! I hope Chet and Suzy had a special relationship! She is such a special singer, and Chat -- of course -- has always been my idol. This is just such so special that I keep coming back to it. Johnny Gimble - oh my gosh, how can you get any better. Just total WONDERFUL!!

  • Thanks Chuck, this is a joy to hear, and to see these greats having so much fun. Love them all. Sure envy Chet that little peck from Suzy. And, Chuck, you be on your best behavior, here at the Lonnie Mack Brown Jr. High School.

  • I agree! .......

  • Fantastic performance and great instrumentals too!

  • Can't stop listening to this.

Great to see a true guitar genius having so much fun. Great Vocal by Suzy.

Thanks for putting this one up!!

  • I love that song :)

  • 1919

... Europe signs a Peace Treaty and the League of Nations convenes

    ... Prohibition goes into effect

    ... Woodrow Wilson is President

... those b*stard Chicago White Sox sell the baseball World Series to a bunch of gamblers

.. and THIS is the number 1 song

  • What is really good? eh? Commercial: ie sell a lot of product ie Spice Girls, Bay City Rollers, Donny and Marie, or real talent eh!?

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! sorry but Im with Chet every time!! Sorry!

  • What happened to her?

  • resopicker---

I recorded it too. "American Music Shop."

It`s great and when i get it transferred

    to DVD, i`ll upload it.

  • Somewhere's around here, I have a VHS vid from the old Nashville Network of Chet, Jerry Reed, and a VERY happy Suzy Bogus, and I forget what the tune is....but what musicianship!

  • who origanally wrote dissss

  • Fantastic. The best of the old and the best of the new

  • I know that I am going to get barrated by Mc Cartney camp and its supporters, each to there own I know, but for Musical content, harmony, skill, sheer listening and viewing pleasure, not to mention the ability of what can not be desputed as the playing of a Guitar genius, what are we doing even trying to compare this with anything that has ever come out of Liverpool. These two people leave the rest of the world behind.

  • Probably not the right comparison, really. But, yes, this is muscianship at it's very finest

  • I have or have had all the mccartney stuff and it isnt on anything here in the us. i cant imagine him even trying to do a song like this. let alone do it better. his voice just doesnt compare to suzy. not bashing him but... well like blikyman said nice try.

  • Amost identical version of this on the CD 'Best of Chet Atkins', except that instead of the violin, Chet Plays. Both are great!

  • Paul McCartneys version is better Folks

  • Doesn't exist. Not on YouTube anyway. Nice try.

  • Suzy is so underated. I fell in love in the midst of her music of the 90's. Her style is easy, classic, her diction is perfect. She is a master of her craft (or whatever the feminine version of that is). wonderful performer. Would love to see more of her, here in the uK (I know she just toured).

  • I totally agree - I'm not a country music fan but Suzy has such a totally perfect voice I could listen to her singing the phone book and love it.

  • This is so wonderful. Her best song ever was "Letting Go"...If anyone has Suzy singing that song, PLEASE post it!

  • ... well..

  • I was in music for 30 years, and this Suzy, with Chet brings tears. Very good!

  • Nice! :D

  • classious and rafiné, cool

  • Suzy should be up there with the best of them.....Tammy, Dolly, Loretta and Patsy...... she has a fantastic voice

  • wow suzy has an amazing voice and is so nice meet suzy on friday in bedford the show was sold out and the three girls were on top form again god love suzy thanks for the music

  • I believe 'I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire' was Suzy's first single way back. She is a such natural for these old songs that it seems a shame that there was never an album featuring more titles like 'After you've Gone.' I saw Suzy in concert last week in London with Matraca Berg and Gretchen Peters and I was transfixed by that beautiful face and voice.

  • Fantastic performers! Great song!

  • awesome! I love Chet!

  • so square

  • In this case, square is a compliment. Anyone of these musicians/singers is lightyears above the non-square performers to whom you might be comparing them. Suzy, Chet, Johnny Gimble, Paul Burgeson, and Steve Wariner, all accomplished, great, musicians. Not a sloppy one in the bunch. Aspire to be square like them and others may someday admire you too.

  • Error: I said, Paul Burgeson, it's Pat. He's the ex-husband of Allison Krauss. He's an excellent musician, toured with Chet the last few years of Chet's life. Chet admired these people and they admired him. You should have the chance to hear Jonny Gimble play fingerstyle guitar. He does that well too...as does Steve Wariner. These people may be "square" but I'd give all I own to be of their caliber.

  • What a band!

  • I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE HER! She's so great!

  • Chet was a genius but "After You're Gone" was written in 1918 by the vaudeville team of Henry Creamer and J. Turner Layton. Suzy certainly is much more svelte than Sophie Tucker who recorded the song in 1927 with Miff Mole and his Molers (Red Nichols).

  • Robbie1261, you poor child. Chet was a genius but "After You're Gone" was written in 1918 by the vaudeville team of Henry Creamer and J. Turner Layton. Suzie certainly is much more svelte than Sophie Tucker who recorded the song in 1927 with Miff Mole and his Molers (Red Nichols).

  • Suzy, Chet, Had you in mind when wrote this song, I don`t know anyone else that could sing it so well.

  • @Robbie1261 He didn't.

It was written in 1918 by Turner Layton, with lyrics by Henry Creamer.

  • Hey, let's give Johnny Gimble some credit. What a great fiddle and mandolin player he is!

  • You're right as rain!

  • Suzy, you are just too cute!

  • wow, I was at this show back in '93 (or early 94) in austin, tx. completely forgot about it. thanks for posting!

  • Nah...she just is HOT...those legs are very lovely :)

  • This song is also on "Read My Lick's" CD by Chet Atkin's. It's really great to see them perform it.Thanks fo posting.

  • This is nice but I thought her song "Forget About It" from this show was awesome. I went out and got the Chet and Suzy CD because of that song. And she is VERY lovely !

  • I just love this song!!!

  • Suzy is not only fabulous to look at but also to listen to. That guitar player ain't half bad either!

  • Wow! Chet got to go to heaven twice! What a great

video: the best guitarist and the best singer.

    Thanks Chuck!

  • good song

thanx for suzy and chet ;)
