  • Waho was Giuffria's frontman?

He reminds me of Tony Harnell

  • @Freyja1133 Greg Guffria used to play with a band called Angel in the 70's

  • @bobby5616 I KNow... I owned a couple fo their Lps

  • Man,I love you tube, lol. Bringing back the great music and their videos. Some I have always wanted to see but never did. This is awesome.love this song, great band.

  • Craig Goldie = David Gilmour of metal.

  • @nathantim Wasn't Craig Goldie in Dio at one time?

  • @Freyja1133 yep. taken from Dio's wiki:

    Craig Goldy – guitar (1986–1989, 1999–2001, 2004–2005, 2006–2010)

  • This is when MTV was about Music Videos not reality shows like Jersey Shore my brother always watches it but i dont and my mother doesent aswell

  • I will send Nik Kershaw Phil Collins Paul Young and Lionel Richie to bring back the 80s and burn down Bibers house

  • Next up, Art of noise moments in love.

  • search: miami vice remission

their poster hangs on a wall^^ in the background

  • aaah man. he should ditch the girl and go for the keybord player!

  • genial

  • YES! I am going to start buying Aqua Net hairspray SUPERHOLD! I remember teasing my hair up a mile high! Wow!

  • @MsWinterangel

Hahahaha! I just saw an 80's cover group here locally and guess what their name was..........SUPERHOLD!!! They were actually very good! All 80's all the time! They even have some video's on YT under the name Robotic Jive.

Superhold....LOL! Dang, I miss those big haired woman from the 80's!

  • tremendous!

  • The guitarist Craig Goldie was playing with Dio till he died..

  • I'm only 20, so i might not have ever been introduced to this great song if not for GTA: Vice City Stories. Awesome song. I wish the 80's could be brought back if only in moderation.

  • @Supertron5000 you bet... I would love to go back in the future and start my life right in the 1980 -1990 .. that was agreat 10 years of heavy metal when the best fashion was a simple tight jeans ,knights gim-shoes and a kool concert tshirts ...

  • @SLAZHER62 Yeah and in the 80's sideburns were optional; And the rockers looked just as cool with em' as they did without em'.

  • @SLAZHER62 Oh, and i can't believe neither of us mentioned the 80's was also the greatest time for movies and shows of all genres. Some of my favorite action movies and shows came out of the 80's like Scarface, Miami Vice, Cobra, Tango & Cash, Die Hard, Road House, ect. Also some great sitcoms like Family Ties, The Cosby Show, Growing Pains; Pretty much, the 80's was the greatest decade ever in every respect but technology.

  • just heard they turned down joe satriani when he auditioned as a guitarist. oops

  • just watched on that metal show they turned down joe satriani as a guitarist . ooops

  • sounds like Journey.

  • under the big hair are some really good musicians....even if they have short hair they would still kick ass.....The package does not mean shit!

  • I remember first hearing this song thinking that it was Steve Perry singing.

  • Saw this on Last.FM app on my Xbox360, which I am somewhat addicted to, visual radio that is still lacking content I know exists, more photos, better bios. This is damn good lost classic music!!! House of Lords now.

  • @shankbeau6 I know who ANGEL is . I saw them 3 times in the 70,s and I met them after a show. Still have the program they signed. Great band!

  • Ok anatomy of an 80s power ballad.

    1. Lots of synth keyboards, a steady layer through the whole song.

    2. Sparkly fake acoustic guitar sound.

    3. THICK layer of reverb over all vocals.

    4. Chorus backup singers that sounds like 2000 people.

    5. A nice slow, "thoughtful" guitar solo.

anyone can feel free to add more.

  • This is a great song, perfect example of an awesome power ballad.

  • Is the bass player wearing a Members Only jacket? Is he the last member? At least he looks like a man, not a drag queen like the rest of the band.

  • I love this song!

  • This is one of the best AOR hard rock bands ever. They are also one of my favorite bands! It's sad that they didn't get much popularity! I would like to see Giuffria reunion, and a European tour! I hope some Giuffria member will read this! : D

  • I named my cat after this band. Everyone who wasn't a rocker asked where I found a name like Guiffria! Haven't heard this song for years!

  • Why is David Glen Eisley singing? He has no bulge. If I didn't have a bulge, I wouldn't be singing!

  • @Jefgg Heh,heh. Bulges are a trend of the 80's. I remember my first bulge sighting. I was 13 and it was spotted on Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. I was in love from that day on. I loved 80's rock for that reason. Well, and the music.

  • @no1zlistening

David Glen Eisley really needs to adjust his angle of dangle.

  • god it must be 10 years since i heard this. i loved this album, although every time i heard it i wished it was Angel re-forming instead. !!! excellent song though.

  • This is my favorite song ever! Thanks again Kalesh. God bless you for putting this on here.

  • Much thanks for taking the time 2 upload this KALESH....One of my favorites from tha 80s growing up in the bronx!!!

  • 1984 my senior year when this song came out!

  • First time I heard this song on the radio, I coulda swore it was Journey

  • So did I.

  • Seriously this was the best time to be a teenager - listening to this kind of music, hanging out, going to parties. This song brings all those memories back for me. Great song, great times!

  • I totally agree with you bud, the best time ever, together with the summertime girls!!!

  • thanks for posting...thought I was the only one who'd ever heard of this song!

  • i love this song! everytime i hear this its an automatic rush back to great outings with friends

  • Glad I discovered the 'spam' feature. I can get rid of the comments by the offensive swearers and cussers. Long live clean English! Peaked at #15 in Billboard.

  • beautiful. The only type of music to lisen to. Lord let the 70's and 80's live on forever.

  • @hockey3328912 AMEN TO THAT.

  • Greg Giuffria Is playing for Trans Siberian orchestra now TSO Unbelievable how times have changed

  • @hellbent70 I know huh...and Paul Stanley played the lead in "phantom of the opera"

  • WOO SPONGEBOB!

  • : 50 classic double 80's keyboard pose

  • Rainbow days! Good times...good music!

  • the great summer of 1984 !! got my first job & bought the vinyl record !! still have it in my collection!!

  • This video kills me. That classy looking older broad doesn't look like the type who would date a younger musician. Were all the hot young bimbos who usually appeared in 80s music videos working that day? Craig Goldy is a talented guitar player. He was a starving musician back then ... literally. He was so skinny he had one side. Couldn't Geffen Records, Greg Giuffria or Gene Simmons afford to feed Craig Goldy?

  • Oh, I don't know....I've seen him play for Dio, and he still looks pretty skinny.....and he's still playing BC Rich Warlocks.

  • I think David Glenn Eisley sounds more like David Coverdale from Whitesnake, but I hear some style similarities to Steve Perry.

  • LOVE the pile of road cases with their logo on them all...Kind of a Les Mis reference when he's standing on top of them all singing...What? No flag?

  • One more thing: Gregg is a terrific keyboard player. Plus, he just struck me as a nicer person than David Greg Eisley, who gave me a really dirty look when I asked if he could get Gregg over for a signature.

  • the guy who did spongebob squarpants - sweet victory ?

  • now im lost in your world --- theres no simple way to let you go and though you choose to walk to seperate road i still believe in you. Oh i call to your heart hear me calling to your heart......... love it

  • This is another one of those sappy love songs I so love! Call me nutty but I say the sappier, the better! A love song isn't a love song if it ISN'T sappy!:) This one is one of the best! It's a tear-jerker too!:)

  • what a nice and soothing song. Makes me dreaming :-)

  • What have you dreamed of?

  • probably about Greg Giuffria calling to my heart :-F

  • Is that the poodle-haired man's name?

  • Have you noticed that the lead guitar player in this video is none other than Craig Goldy who went on to success as being the lead guitarist for Ronnie James Dio.

  • Craig Goldy shreds !!

  • When I fisrt heard this song back in 1984 (?) - me and everyone I hung out with swore it was Journey. This guy sounds so much like Steve Perry it is uncanny.

  • I never thought about how the lead singer sounded like Steve Perry until I read your comment. Now why can't music execs get it through their heads that this kind of music kicks ass, not that shitty hip hop!

  • spiderdragon1969....this is too funny. When this song came out I thought it was Journey also. I totaly agree with the hip hop comment....why doesn't an independent record company start recording this kind of music and putting it out there? The most listened to station in this area is playing this kind of music and has the highest ratings. I thought ratings meant money.

  • I just think the music execs have lost touch with reality. They aren't in the bars checking out the local bands. If they were they'd see that those bars are packed to the rafters with people listening to local rock-n-roll bands! At least they are in Iowa.

  • @spiderdragon1969 Sadly, the popularity of music is not determined by what music is being played in the bars. I happened to see the band Cinderella performing at a small club in New Orleans and the lead singer, Tom Keifer said it was because MTV and VH1 had stopped making rock and pop rock music the main genre for there media format. So, it pretty much depends on what MTV and VH1 plays, that will depend on what is popular. There needs to be a rock music cable tv channel for rock music only.

  • I agree with you. I think MTV and VH1 should be taken behind the wood shed and given an ass kicking! Most of America does not give a shit about Beyonce or Tayler Swift! Until everyday people get pissed about it they will continue promoting no talent fucks like Kanye West and Eminem!.

  • Those stupid music shows MTV,VH1, Much Music,CMT ,have got reality T.V shoved up there fucking ass's so far they have forgotten what real music is! and fuck Kanye West, what a dick!

  • Agreed. Sometime around the mid-90s, "rock" went from upbeat to feel-sorry-for-me suicidal crap. As a big Rush fan I was happy to see them call out the record companies in a recent press conference and state that with 1 or 2 exceptions, there is no real talent being signed nowadays.

  • Beautiful song. The 80's were the best.

  • You (tokeNRez) are an uninformed idiot! The band Giuffria was named after founder/lead vocalist Greg Giuffria, who gave up a very promising professional baseball career to live out a dream of making really good music....only so clowns like you could make dumbass remarks all these years later.

  • Actually, Eisley gave up baseball for music, not Guiffria himself.

  • Angel was another band formed with Punky Meadows, Mickie Jones, Gregg Giuffria and Felix Robinson. The current lineup does not have any of the original members. They were discovered by Gene Simmons.

  • And discovered in Washington, D.C. by Gene who at 2 a.m. called Neil Bogart at Casablanca records and insisted that they be signed on. The rest is, as they say, history.

  • But David Glenn Isley was a DAMNED good Singer and actor. He was the bomb when he sang with this group. The hair bands may have been ugly, but they put out some DAMNED GOOD MUSIC!

  • Ugly? What are you talking about? Maybe you are a guy, so it does not matter. There are many many members of hair bands that were and are still very hot!

  • Glad to see this one again...Big hair will always rule!!! Those were the fun days..No drama!!!Good song and album...Never forget this one...

  • @BIGROCKER620 no drama, how those rose colored glasses treating you? jst cuz you were 15 back them doesnt mean everything was peachy

  • To those who are shallow enough to be overly concerned about a hairdo instead of music on its own merits, these hairdo's were known as crowns. Mullets was what Billy Ray Cirus wore, people who couldn't decide upon long or short hair. Now, start listening to music and get over yourselves.

  • You got it...thought of it an hour after the above post but didn't bother taking the time to re-post. He reminded me of him so much, and since then, I did a search on the guitarist to learn he's had a very successful career with Dio since Giuffria, who seemed to unfortunately disband shortly after this hit of theirs...Kudos to the guitarist for being fortunate enough to find a great place to land, and he deserved it, he's a great guitarist. Singer is amazing too.

  • Mullet Heaven!!!!!!!!!

    Great song though!

  • Universal did not let me watch the video, because I don't live in USA... fuck them!

thanks for putting this video. :D

  • Thanks lawbeat3, I'd be curious to see it. This is my favorite song ever. I have to watch it at least twice a month and never get tired of it.

  • Greg Giuffria is an awesome and underrated keyboard player!

  • Go over to the UniversalMusicGroup channel where this song/video also is...not to take credit from the poster here, but the UMG video is the *full* song, including the incredible ending vocals that get chopped off on this video :(. Well worth watching/listening for the entire ending.

  • P.S. When did Rudy Sarzo, if I recall his name correct (bassist in that cheezy "Metal Health" band and later in Whitesnake) take up guitar for this band?

    ;-p

  • ive got this song on 45 vinyl record

  • I love the melody of this song.

  • A Great Lost Band!!!

  • Great Song!

This is not Journey. This is Giuffria.

This is not Steve Perry. This is David Glenn Esley; a great vocalist in his own right.

  • Angel "Giuffria"

  • I can't believe you wrote this...did someone think this was Journey? I ask cuz I now clearly remember this song from back when I was a kid, loved the video, etc...and I've had a weird memory anchor that's told me for the past 15 years that this WAS Journey!! How BIZARRE!! I think I figured out why tho...a Journey album from around 1988 has a VERY similar song on it, so much so it has almost the exact same vocal melody at one part. Now I need to go find out what it is.

  • This is the type of band that proves you can have talent but no talent...haha!

  • Sorry - he sounded like Steve Perry in this song.

Everyone commented on that when the song first started to get played on MTV.

  • I was a big Journey fan...but I never thought this band sounded like them or they were trying to copy Journey......Two different sounds! This song is beautiful! Giuffria was a great band!

  • These guys went on to form the band House of Lords. Another under-rated band that unfortunately came out just before the grunge movement.

    Love this song!

  • Thank You, Someone Else Likes Great Music!!! Thank God I Read Your Comment!!!

  • Thanks again Kalesh! I think that is my favorite song ever. The 80's were the best!! I think the most under rated song ever. Semper Fi.

  • Man that song rocks!! God bless you for putting that video/song on. I'd never seen the video. I actually only heard the song about 3 times in 85 but it was so beautiful it left that much of an impression on me. I always remembered it and when this thing called the internet came about, I had my wife download it for me onto my ipod.

  • Thanks, It makes me happy that you like it

  • It does sound like Journey, lol. The 80s were the best!

  • Damn, what memories that generated! Awesome and thanks for posting the video.

  • People - get over the Journey stuff and listen for the song as it was by Giuffria, FFS! This was a great song and brings me back to 1985 at JR's Music Shop in Chicago Ridge Mall (in C.R. IL). Greg Giuffria is truly talented - what dexterity!

  • in mexico the radio played that song too much in the 80`s I love it....the same voice of swet victory of bob sponge bands geek....great song.

  • for some reason, they opened for deep purple in late 84 and were promptly booed off. probably wasn't the best choice for that show. ;)

  • those were the days....

  • That does sound like "Journey" !! He hits those notes like Steve!! Amazing the likeness!! Of course Steve/ Journey was alot better--I am a BIG Steve fan----Peace/Love

  • First, who wrote this song? It could have been written for Steve Perry, his vocal range. Second, love the dual keyboards. Third, wonder what Neal Schon could have done with that guitar solo?

  • Holy Crap!! This does sound like Journey. Cept the real Journey is better :)

  • Wow I like this. It sounds like something Journey would have put on their Raised On Radio album. Beautiful song.

  • Great song

  • Journey's best power balled they never had! Love a classic BC Rich appearence in there as well!!

  • I loved Giuffria !!! Thanks for posting this video! Beautiful voice! Beautiful song!

  • First concert I ever went to. They opened for the first Deep Purple reunion tour in '85

  • GTA vice city stories song lol

  • Thank you for posting thi video. It really dose bring back some good memories(:

  • good song :D, i love it

  • soy de PUERTO RICO y a mi me gusta mucho ese video es de mis tiempo de los 80's

  • What a blatant journey ripoff. Didn't these guys have any shame? Not a bad song nonetheless.

  • Stupidest thing Schon and Cain ever did was kick Perry out of the band.

Augeri is out of there now because his voice can't take it and now they have another wanna-be!

  • Under rated and underpowered compared to other 80s hair bands like Warrant. Still, great talent.

  • I'm looking for more Giuffria clips in my cds, i think i have more,

but i'm not sure. I want to put more videos from this great band

  • kalesh.. hi! . ... thanks for the vid.. please dont desapear.. i really love this song.

  • Great 80's AOR, their two albums were melodic rock classics!

  • Greg Giuffria had some great music and especially on the first album. He went on to do the House of Lords and I enjoyed them, too. Thanks!

  • Greg was awesome, er still is, very underrated for his time, all these folks here bitching about Journey copycats, sorry its 2 very different styles. I used to play keys in various bands in vegas, Greg was one of my most influential favs. Jonathan Cain on other hand is a classicaly trained pianist and alot more extensive melodies are in Journey's music.

  • Always loved this song. It seems that the drum doesn't want to be there! (good drumming tough..)

  • One of my favorite "under-rated" 80's songs ever!

  • The best Journey wanna be band ever... not quite Angel, of course, but still enjoyable '80s aor.

  • I still have this album

  • Thanks for the comments

  • Good 80's Vid!

  • Great song! I totally forgot about it until I heard it on XM a few weeks ago. Thanks for posting the video.
