I think this stand thingy has magnets, which the droid notices and the screen gets like that..

depends the droid has magnets that line up with the charger so it puts the droid in that mode but i think you can put it in that mode if you just put magnets on the back or somewhere in the settings

As of now the droid will NOT be going to the AT&T network. It probably has something to due with the competition with the iPhone.

seriously... i have had an iPhone for a while and I switched to this last month. I have to say that I miss my iPhone. The only reason why I switched to the Droid is because Verizon just gives you better signal all over the US while at&t coverage blows compared to verizon. For some reason.. I can't seem to figure out how to chat on Facebook on the Droid and texting on the iPhone is much easier than the Droid. The Droid is too sensitive especially when you are trying to take a picture or vid.

Unfortanetly, this is an ugly phone. I think if it was nicer looking it would be a hit, but people are picky and I don't think it will go very far. I will have to wait and see when it comes out to see if it really looks like that...let's hope not :(

Probably not, because there are too many stupid people sucking on the iPhone's nuts. Apple needs to change the interface, it's been the exact same for the last (almost) 3 years.

The only thing the iPhone has going for it, is the App Store.

um, what? lol this device has 2x the screen resolution (854×420 compared to Apples 480×320) and a 45% faster processor, the worlds thinnest full qwerty, a 5 mega pixel camera with dual LED flash, and it runs the fastest and most versatile operating system available on a phone. how is technical superiority a "sub-set?"

I feel 2010 will be a good year for android and by this time next year iphone will be the under dog trying to catch up. Android has already surpassed iphone as a operating system. hardware wise iphone is still the best. its over for iphone but i thank apple for pioneering high quality phone for people in the USA. before then we always got shitty products. Iphone is the best thing to happen for mobile products since ever.

Yeah that's definitely true, phone wise the US used to be the slow kid but not anymore.

I think you're being way to aggressive in your forecast though. I do think Google has the strongest cards in it's deck with it's vast information resources but the Iphone will remain king in 2010 and perhaps 11 as well (sales wise). After that, it's anyone's guess.

Nothing special... I gess it can't save Motorola from bankruptcy. Nokia's N900 is MUCH better, and the only guy that can beat 3GS. Droid has a poor 500mhz ARM11 processor, since N900 and 3GS has Corte A8, a just 600mhz but powerull processor.

This mobile is cool not for a Motorola's job, but the new Google Android 2.0 OS.

After having looked at the N900's specs I don't see what makes it so much better than the Droid, in fact they both have more or less the same hardware and features only the Droid has a bigger and better screen. One could argue that the N900 looks a little nicer but it's also quite a bit thicker than the Droid.

FYI, the Droid has a TI OMAP 550 mhz processor.

Do some research next time.

Not oficial, but both has OMAP 3430 Cortx A8 600mhz based processors and the same specs (including screen), but N900 runs Maemo 5 OS, and thath is why it is so much superior. Search some videos here on uTube, you will see. Another thing, Maemo is a trully open source linux. So, porting business or any kind of softwares are easy. Android has a linux kernel, but runs only java (with theirs proprietary library!) based apps. Thath means you cant easy do a software for Android, but for Maemo u can.

The N900 has a 3.5" 800x480 display.

The Droid has a 3.7" 854x480 display.

Maemo is nice but it does not have any features over Android 2.0. So what if Android uses Java? It's a capable platform. Android is open source, what don't you get about that? You could even make it look like Maemo 5 if so inclined.

That clock and graphic buttons used on the droid look like they were thrown in as an after thought of "oh yeah we need buttons and a clock right, quick 1 week to launch get the new designer guy to make some up". Seriously the Polish you get on the Iphone is not just in the hardware, its the software, its the apps, its the thought that goes into making it all feel natural, it feels so slick.

That new droid looks very unpolished in the interface when compared to the iphone or the HTC HD2.
