  • Haha the political youth organization of what is essentially a one party/two man dictatorship come to Finland giving a lecture on human rights. Give me a break. How about fixing your independent press and your democracy (or whats left of it).

  • Nasji fuck off!

  • I'm PRETTTTTTTTTTTTTTY sure it's finnish television.

  • nazis suck, but I think this Kreml youth posse (Nashi) and Bäckman sucks even harder.

  • okei..but now you all should also look video clips how these so called antifascists smashed Tallinn in 2007, during riot..how they robbed and looted alcohol stores,, in one hand russian flag and in another bottle of vodka...how they burned estonian flag and smased everything..

  • but, i think i should point out that i absolutely do NOT agree with bäckman's opinions.. even though i disagree with you about him not being finnish.

  • he's finnish..

  • He is a stalinist.

  • His a swedish who lives in finland, that doesent make him finnish.

  • ehm, why do you think he would be swedish? he is finnish.

  • and just so that you know, the term "finlandssvensk" means a finnish person who's mother tongue is swedish - not a swedish person who lives in finland. in case you didn't know, finland has two official languages, finnish and swedish.

  • I know that Finland has 2 offical languages. When you speak swedish then you arent finnish. Yeah you screwed ur country up when making swedish and offical language ... And he is swedish

  • i see you don't know anything about our country's history, do you?

swedish has been an official language here far longer than finnish. sweden and finland were the same country for over 600 years, until 200 years ago russia invaded the eastern part of that country (called "svearike" at that time) and named it finland by an area called finland in finland.

  • until 1800's and the nationalist movement finnish was just a minor language spoken by people in the country side, it wasn't an official language like swedish has always been.

and swedish speaking finns aren't different people to finnish speaking ones. they carry the same genes, history and culture (swedish speaking finns speak fluent finnish too), the only difference is the mother tongue. besides, everyone in finland speaks swedish since it's a mandatory school subject.

  • @bluelity what you've been smoking? Finnish people do not speak swedish. It's true swedish is mandatory, but no one likes it, most of the people don't want to learn it. In fact most of the finnish people would make swedish optional. And we do have some (although really small minority, like few hundred or so) of swedish people who don't speak finnish and they are kinda like isolated in the society.

Anyway swedish speaking minority is really small in Finland, something like 5%.

  • I do know about my countrys history... Probably more than you know ur countrys history.(Im not finnish) We were in Livonia with Latvia like Sweden and Finland where together but different people we didnt make an official language latvian...

  • thanks to swedish speaking finns finnish has the status of an official language here today. for example elias lönnrot - the collector of the national epos kalevala - was a swedish speaking finn. and jean sibelius - the composer of finlandia.. mikael agricola, the founder of written finnish. etc. those are just few names, there are many more.

  • @bluelity you fool, it's Aleksis Kivi who we all thank. And many real finnsh had swedish names back in the days.. And another thing, it was the swedish who didn't want finnish language to exist. Then there appeared few swedish speaking finnsh who wanted to strenghten the position of finnish language (which by the way was already the only real language in Finland as it is today). It was playing tricks with the legislation.

  • @bluelity "thanks to swedish speaking finns finnish has the status of an official language here today. for example lönnrot..."

Yeah, he was the collector, not the writer.

And thanks to swedish speaking finns (well back then they were swedish) finnish language was under lot's of pressure, they tried to destroy it. So don't give the credit to people who actually tried to get rid of finnish language. Ok, later they realized they had made a mistake and wanted to support finnish language.

  • @bluelity "swedish has been an official language here far longer than finnish. sweden and finland were the same country for over 600 years"

true, and even with illegal occupation that lasted so long Sweden isn't taken to Hague court. Why is that? It's just sad what swedish people did to finnish people when they came here. It happened only because finnish people weren't united against swedish criminals; they just didn't notice the evil that was lurking across the sea.

  • swedish speaking finns aren't comparable to russians in estonia, if that's your point.

Johan Bäckman is finnish, even though one might not like his ideas and opinions.

  • besides, i'm not even sure if he speaks swedish as his mother tongue.

  • Johan Batman is and dumbest idiot ive ever seen ... I would be ashamed that such an dumb idiot is an swedish

  • Han är finlandsvensk.

  • SWEDISH stays SWEDISH nomatter where he lives , Russian live in Estonia they maycall them selves Estonians BUT THEY ARENT
