with 2 arrestors you can still get a sustained flame in the first one that will shorten it's life. But yes that would work too. The valve extinguishes a continuous flame before it does a lot of damage. Brown's Gas is brutal and will burn through metal if applied long enough.
Why not use two arrestors in series?
