If you go to the ice hotel, LISTEN TO THE INSTRUCTIONS! I mean it! They will explain how to use a sleeping bag, listen and follow. A colleague didn't and had a rough night, but my wife and I slept like dogs.
Oh, and make sure you go to the loo before you go to bed, it's not nice getting up at night ;-)
wow I'm so jealous!! my dream is to come to Lapland! I've never seen a real snow like this in my life! when is the best time to visit? I want to come in January, is there enough snow at this time?
That's nice ^^ It was nice to see you enjoyed it though for me, a native Finn, ice and cold is not so exotic thing anymore! Good vid, love to see ships.
We were at Kemi Sampo Ice Breaking tour by 29Dec07, but due to strong wind, we have missed all these wonderful moment. We really enjoyed this video, seeing all things that we have missed. May be another trip? But Finland is too far from here... We stayed at Malaysia.
The stuff I saw breaking was between 24-36" inches. The sound is made as it cracked was awesome! It was much thicker in teh area we were swimming because it was opened and refrozen a number of times.
awesome!! can someone tell me how to get there from Rovaniemi? I will be there in the next week!

We went in Feburary, and it was bitterly cold.
