Really impressive! I've been working with my 18 month old since she was born and she does pretty well too. My 3 year old actually taught her a lot of signs that we taught her when she was a baby. It has made such an incredible difference in communicating with them. Thanks for sharing!
my best friend is deaf but is able to speak and read lips but it took me awhile to understand her speach but now she's teaching me how to sign. until september i had never meat any1 who was deaf now i have a best friend who is and i';ve never had a better friend :)
I dont think people should comment on teaching babies sign... I was born profoundly deaf... and couldnt speak... my mom and a teacher of the deaf worked hard to teach me sign then tought me to speak... if it hadnt been for them I wouldnt be here now talking and signing... so people who think its pointless are so wrong... a deaf child needs to be able to get their message across...signlanguage is a good start!
You must be from the U.S. if you are asking this question. First of all, he most likely learned how to sign before he was able to talk, which is awesome, especially for parents. Also, it is important that children learn a second language before they become older. You should learn one too (if you haven't already) :).
Would that be true for hearing adults too? That learning sign language serves little purpose? Did you know there are lives, careers, families and friendships built on hearing people knowing sign language, I'd say its a higher purpose. Both my children were able to communicate with their deaf father from 6 months of age. I'd say that "baby" sign language has changed lives, and in turn changed the world! peace
Could not agree More!!! And My son learned to sign his basic needs before he could say them at age one. It made things alot less frustraying when my 11 month old could tell me he wanted to eat or wanted some milk.
Yes, sign language communicates your ideas just the way other means of communication communicate your ideas. Have you seen complicated speeches with the sign language interpreter beside the speaker yet?
that is amazing! i wish i learned more when i was a kid but i have a disability, but now it is harder for me to learn. great job, cute baby.

I am British and my mum is deaf, she said that most american parents want their babies to sign instead of crying!! American Sign Language is hard!!!
saintmelon 4 years ago
She said that the babies express their feeling through signing, I said that she said something else!! lol

You have an excellent point. So-called 'baby sign language' is cute, but serves little other purpose for hearing children.
