  • It's all about The cars nobody has to be racist do that on your own time

  • Cutlass <3

  • This is a true example of muscle car power! Beside the race card being thrown around, the Buick GS has everybody shut down and I'm a pontiac dude

  • i like both cars but i like the 442 just a tad bit better

  • 2 awsome american greats

  • I agree with GS7093 black people ruin everything.....

  • This makes me proud to own a 70' Cutlass. Nothing Can beat that American Tank.

  • In 1971 US automakers reduced the compression ratio and hp in most of their cars thus giving the 1970 Cutlass an additional advantage over the 1971 Chevelle.

  • Cutlass stronger engine

  • Ha ha that chevelle got spanked by an olds.. TEAM olds all the way baby...

  • conestoga wagon wheels belong on conestoga wagons not on classic muscle cars.

  • @dreadhead365 350? wow that must have some balls.

  • @dreadhead365 it sounds nice do u have a vid of it?

  • @dreadhead365 fam that 24's shit cool on the street ridin round showin off but racing totally different aw yeah da "crackers" chevelle if its an real SS thats worth 50K or better thats double what my brother put in his regular chevelle\malibu with a custom big block 6's bang and drippin paint you and my brother have ol skools people with original SS's and 442's own classic muscle cars

  • @dreadhead365 Ha ha ha I love black people. They are so funny.

  • @dreadhead365 Whatever. I think the big rims make these cars look like toys. Also I'd hate to think what would happen when you hit a pothole in the 'hood with the thin sidewall tires. Anyway, you just make yourself sound like a douche when you rip on other people for how they did their cars (also a little racist). You can do what you want, your car your vision, that's the name of the game. Nobody needs to get a clue 'cuz nobody's wrong....

  • @dreadhead365 you people ruin everything

  • @dreadhead365 lol dumb nigger.. classic cars are made for speed and power, big rims are for you monkeys, and they weigh down the car. you're calling us crackers but you're riding around in an AMERICAN car... silly monkey.

  • @th3m8ngtree don't be an asshole, if they like looking like fools then let them, no need for rascism

  • @lastresort521 he wants to be racist, i'm going to be racist.

  • Love both cars! i have a 67 Cutlass, solid cars!

  • if that chevelle had the 454 option with 450 horses and u could kiss that old 442 good bye

  • @XxhavenlotsoffunXx ummm actually not. it's all about torque and even though the LS series 454 is an amazing engine, it never put the torque to the pavement that the Olds/Buick 455 did. sorry broseph.

  • It's was a good race I love my 71 cutlass that I'm restoring

  • i love the vid because theres no stupid comments. american muscle rules

  • Ford guy here,,, but i must say,,, GM is the winner here,, LOVE OLD USA MUSCLE!!!!

  • @IRONSEAN7 haha, gm made chevy to

  • and the old still wins wile doing a 500 ft burnout yes

  • Old mans car my ass, the Olds 442 mopped the floor with Shelby GT's back in the day.

  • I agree we should get along, cuz we both appreciate vintage muscle cars. I owned a 71 Chevelle but I think the Olds 442, Pontiac GTO and Buick were cool too.

  • to all the chevy fans saying its better than a olds look up how much better oldsmobile v8s are compared to chevy v8s

  • i drive a 87 cutlass with a 350 small block 5.7 liters and i raced a 98 crown vic with the police inteptor that thing was fast but at the end i left him in the dust

  • The Olds lost traction bad on the line but was still able to catch and pass the Chevy. Olds 455 are great, just keep them under 5500 rpm.

  • Imma Chevy loyalist to the heart, i even got Chevy tattoo'd on me, I always wanted and will mabe getting a 1970 Chevelle or 1971 Chevelle, but i really been considering getting a 1970-72 Oldsmobile Cutlass/442...its a hard choice, i haven't seen any Chevelles where i lived, but i seen a few A-body Cutlass/442's, but im really considering the 442/Cutlass, cause i know there's plenty of Chevelle's when i move back South to Alabama

  • Nice! I had a guy in a Neon with a fart can muffler pull up beside me at a light wanting to race. I lmao as I was sitting in my '69 442. I think he was offended by my laughing. I left him at the light.

  • here a tip when racing dont have your top down cause it causes huge amounts of drag

  • Yeah, when i start my 70 maro i always gotta make sure there is no civic around, otherwise civic frames just get twisted

  • im the proud owner of a 71 olds 442.. its far from stock. she's a real screamer. but tires are getting expensive to replace. lol

  • yeah, the Chevelle 454 SS was the beast of the muscle cars imo

  • you cant stop the power of an oldsmobile

my father has a 69 442 and he pops wheelies in it...gotta love the 400

  • You should of stood in the middle of the road for a better close up - when both cars raced by !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • omg lol :)

  • a 442 hardtop would rip it. but a convertible not so

  • aww cant we all just get along were all gearheads here:) i personally am restoring a 1970 442 not because its a better all around car but because you just dont see em anymore in this ocean of chevys, fords and dodges, dare to be diffrent:)

  • @transameric Keep up the good work with the OLDS its an elite group of people with rather awesome taste, F the chevys and Fords and of course mopars. OLDSMOBILES rock and always will !!

  • thanks! and i will, im painting it right now actually but body work is a bitch lol

  • @transameric HELL YEAH!

  • @transameric Thats why I bought a buick skylark and restored that :D

  • @transameric that's the same reason i've kept a hold of my '77 Cutlass Supreme. you just don't see these cars on the road much. mustangs, camaros, chevelles, and novas. hell even a '71 Monte Carlo is a car you don't see much of on the road. give it up to those of us who drive Oldsmobiles, Buicks, Pontiacs, Mercuries, Plymouths, AMC's and other "rare" muscle. you're keeping the muscle car heritage alive!

  • chevy was always the bottom of gm for quality. not only that, but they're overrated. stupid narrow minded chevy punk.

    what's a cuttie?

  • Comment removed

  • id say either car really opened up all the way. that sure would be a stupid way to get killed on some half ass road.

  • u mean BAD ASS!!! cobalt :P

  • holy shit who was that rant to? lol

  • both were in the chevelle

  • which motor was in the chevelle, 396 or454 CID big block? the cutlass came standard with the olds 455 v8 in 1970, which means it should easily beat the 396after some distance.both cars r awesome, good match for a drag. im rebuilding a 71 chevelle ss right now, i want to do a 442 as well, anywhere between '70 to '72

  • love the cars.. i bought a 1970 olds cutlass F85 for 500$.. after working in the bodyshop i had alot of good help done on it... hell i think ive spent over 15grand on it...but 10 years from now.. who knows how much its worth

  • that was a good race

  • god i love "unofficial" racing theres more fun in it

  • I don't care who won. Both cars are amazing!

  • The Chevelle actually weighs quite a bit more. The frames were MUCH heavier to accomodate the lack of roof support. It sounds like a small block too..

  • Nope Chevelle didn't win this time both cars were great. With the options avaliable for the Chevelle (454 LS series engines) they had the horsepower advantage but most peoples Chevelles in reality didn't have all those options The Olds 455 put out 500+ Lb/ft torque and that was how many drag races were won nothing beats raw torque

  • the cuTLASS won

  • um it lost sorry bud.

  • olds wins

  • In 1975 I had a smogged out Trans Am w/Pontiac 400 A/C TH350 and power windows. I opened the scoop, jetted the secondaries (QJet), headers and full duals. A cat at the Shell station on Paris Ave in New Orleans had a a 1970 W-30.

We rolled up next to each other one day at the red light, hit at the green got a fair start and he only beat me by half a car. No shit.

  • Street racing....dangerous Take it to the track before you kill a drunk driver

  • Both cars are SICK!!

  • Both nice cars, that being saidm that chevelle had at best a low compression 402/454 if the gutless had a 455 or a built 400, the race makes sense.... 71-72 chevelles had weak ass enngines

  • Everything was weak in '71-72. And the weights were about the same. Regardless, notice all the tire smoke from the Olds, as they typicaly made too much bottom end to control with an inexperiance driver at the helm.

Had it been a 442 w-30 vs a LS-7 Chevele Coup, the old's still would have torn it a new ass.

  • amen!

  • all you grown up, there both sexy fucking cars

  • Did that cuttie just win??

  • I love all GM, but that drag race ended up how it should. Cutlass in front, chevy trailing behind..... The truth hurts for some people, but it makes me feel great.

  • That Chevelle should have run a bit faster than it did, I love the Cutlasses though all american muscle is sweet. I almost idolized 442s for about 6 months

  • aight it just seemed really one sided, im building a 327 right now with 202 heads , solid lifters, and beefy cam ... i might keep the quadrajet(good idea??) it's from a 67 caprice with 20,000 miles on it not bad huh...but aight as longs as you give some respect to the chevys

  • how the fuck do you even know what are in those cars?? you have no idea, people swap motors all the time.. that chevelle could have had a 327,396,400, 454 in it you don't know

  • good ol' super range

  • both have 350's

  • you don't know your just saying that

  • kk. what ever you say...run along

  • and you must be one of those chevy guys...relax because chevy's "precious" chevelle got RAN DOWN!

  • your just silly.. thats all the chevelle in 1971 had its horsepower lowered(wicked dumb) but in prior years such as 69 and 70 the chevelle would kill the olds the 1970 ss equiped with the LS6 had 450hp and way more torque also the 69' chevelle with a 396 has 402 hp still has enough to kill that olds. Also wtf are you talking about the chevelle, cutless and skylark are all on the same frame and have the same suspension, the only difference is the engines and sheet metal. Chevy made badass shit too

  • dude get off your chevy high horse...chevy was the under-dog when it came to a-body performance. PERIOD...as far as more torque..HAH thats a laugh the 68-71 455 made over 500 ft. lbs. 510-520 or so...chevy wished they could achieve that!!! so you tell me, the same amount of hp but the 455 has like 35-40 ft. lbs. more of torque who would pull...plus chevy didnt have their 454 in 68 or 69, the 69 hurst olds(w/455) would have eatin' any chevelle 69 prior and stand tall with the 70's..

  • I guess this is what you think

    B.O.P= Gold

    Chevy= shit

you should'nt be saying chevy sucks maybe you should like all gm and do the american thing and hate honda and ford

  • not at all bud...you just need to get off your high horse because your comments are ignorent and you clearly dont know what your talking about besides throwing out specs/claims- right ones(many wrong ones) to prove this point that u think u have, when in reality my point has been proven thousands of times since 1970, chevy has always been the underdog, they are clearly fast, but between b.o.p. and chevy- chevy is the underdog-joe smoe version. PERIOD

  • plus chevy offered up to a 4.56:1 rear gear, b.o.p. was offered up to 5.14:1 rear ratio... ;) stop talking please...

  • Your just lame for saying that P.O.B did everything right and chevy did'nt , I like them all but saying im on a "chevy high horse" its dumb. Chevy made stuff that competed with P.O.B. and to make you feel better im restoring a 69' buick skylark coupe

  • in what part did i say "P.O.B did everything right and chevy did'nt " let me know, your ignorent comments are rediculous, geeeeezz you cried bitch in the first place, making excuses for this and that, and sure chevy made competeble cars but your getting huffy about the chevelle losing, so take some of your own medicine, be glad for a gm car winning a race. haha cya.

dont reply, i dont want to hear it...

  • I could see a 70 442 with a 455 beating a 71 Chevelle with a 454. For the most part 71 was the end of the muscle car era. In 71 the compression ration dropped for both the 71 chevelle and 71 442. Now a 70 chevelle and a 70 442 might be a different story.

  • Let me at the chevelle. The Olds is a an underestimated torque monster. I own a 1970 W30 convertible. Ported and polished heads, headers. Built turbo 400 transmission 3:42 chevy rear. With sticky yokohama 235 50/15 tires (11.5 inches of rubber at each corner) on the rear the car still will not hook and breaks the rear loose with every full throttle shift.

  • a friendly drag race? ha! not on youtube bro

  • bullshit dont hate that the cutlass smoke the chevelle cause i once had a 442 cutlass and my friend had a chevelle and he said lets race and see who is faster and i won the race and smoked his ass one bad ass 455 olds and chevelle sucks.

  • don't care what you say. one of my favriotive oldsmobiles, i have 12 ;), is a '71 cutlass supreme convertable, car came built to 442 spec but on a 350?! anyway i have stock motor w/ correct 4 barrle 3:10 rear gears? (or something close) but pice to restants, a 68-9 3 speed shifted by hurst ;)) runs low twevles most of the time hasn't been out i a while and i do confuse cars but i think thats right

  • Bullshit, that Chevelle would cream that pos Cutlass. Next time you make a video make sure that it is a fair game.

  • reneishigh...what is your deal? y r u so pessimistic? oh and btw olds 455 are torque beasts that can be lethal when properly modified so don't give us that bs

  • that cutty bust that azz!

  • what a stinky piece of Chevelle! Chevy PWND once again by the higher quality and more rare Olds

  • oh i assumed it had the infamous 454...

  • assuming they r both stock... the cutlass has one more cubic inch which goes to show that oldsmobile does it right

  • 455 are known by mechanics as boat anchors.EASY to overheat and blow up too. That chevelle was not an ss. Convertibles mostly had an anemic 350 and ran 16s in the quarter. Both cars are heavy sleds either way.Cuttys look cool though.

  • Olds 455's and Rocket V-8's have beefy bottom ends, and were known for their durability. I've owned several over the years along with other family members, and we have gotten well over 100,000 miles on an Olds engine, and still running like hell. As far as them being a sled, bone stock W-30 442's ran high 13 sec 1/4 miles at 4,000lbs weight, not bad for a heavy "sled".

  • I totally disagree with you, don't know where you are getting your info from, but I had a buddy in high school who had an original '69 396/375hp SS Chevelle, and that car was running consistent high 13's in the 1/4. As far as Olds motors being inferior, that is a crock of BS. They are not as common and more pricey to build up than Chevy motors. I know of several 455 powered Olds vehicles in my area that will eat just about anything coming. The 350 Rocket,'68-'70 models are no slouch either.

  • I couldnt find a stick block for my 67 442 so I drilled the crank on one it blew to. Went to a 389 and it was quicker than any small block Chey I have ever had including a 71SS.I went through two more of them.Olds build some good stuff but I like the Super Duty

  • I've seen a box stock LS6 Chevelle run well into the 13's at Darlington drag way SC. and the L88 427 Corvette was said to run 11's with headers and slicks. The 455 engines are healthy torque monsters, most people run chevys because the after market is stronger, and cheaper to build...and 455 don't take well to high rpms. But its still a great engine. Torque in a street car is wins races.

  • If you saw an LS6 that went 14's it was either worn out or didn't have a good driver or traction issues. Back in '70 the LS6 Chevelle ran a 13 something in the 1/4 (I can't remember if it was 13.4 or 13.8) on Bias Plys that can't hook for squat.

  • Those ls6 chevells ran mid 13s with slicks. Thats with a pro driver that does nothing all day but test cars on the track. Those are the numbers that got published by all automakers. The stock tires just broke loose. Most drivers are afraid to powershift and lose 2 tenths of a second or more because of it.Depending on how i launch my 93 cobra,it runs an ok 14.2@100mph to 14.9@92mph to 16.2@91mph. I have all of them on my profile as my favorites. Look at em.112000 og miles with just intake&exhaust.

  • Sorry but the fastest recorded ET's for an LS6 Chevelle back in late 1969/1970 was 13.20 @ 106 by Super Stock and Car Craft banged a 13.12 @ 107 MPH

All where done on the factory F70 14 tires

Super Stock magazine had a pre-production test mule that they tested in the Oct. 69 issue that turned a 12.69 @113.26 w/slicks and open headers, Automatic transission too.

  • yes, a lot of people put chevy motors in olds, that's because they don't know how to work that rocket engine, I know plenty of BBO that got over 500hp easy that runs 11s and 12s at the 1/4 runs, and that is with a fully dressed car. Just because a lot of people don't know the rocket engine doesn't mean it is inferior. Making assumptions like that is very childish.

  • chevy is cheaper to build thats why....lol if u got the coin. rocket power all the way.

  • ur a tard... 455, 454 with mickey e/t streets run mid to high 11's all day, u can watch all the terrible drivers run there low e/t's. and dont tell its not possible cuz ive ran those times myself. even with polyglas g70 or f70's ur looking at mid to low 12's.

  • ur got ur shit twisted kid, chevy's are cheap as hell to build since everyone and their mother had a SBC or a BBC...the real power is in the B P O division, buick, pontiac, oldsmobile...the only reason chevy sold so many is because it was a cheap version(joe-smoe version) of the A bodies. it took real coin to buy a fully loaded 442 w-machine. just as many aftermarket parts for olds also. just a little more money. legit hardcore racing requires low cost rebuilds anyway.

  • I have a 68 455 (from a Ninety Eight) with 320,000 on it.. Compression is all 180psi, uses no oil. I had the bottom end apart, walls have atleast another 50k in them. I've treated this motor like a redheaded stepchild.. Chevy is cheaper to build.. and rebuild.. and rebuild.

  • lol no not really dude olds rocket have a much stronger bottom end and have more zink in the block. they are much stronger and lost longer than chevys do. the only reason everybody use's chevys is because they are cheap to build. oldsmobiles are just not as common. but they are freaken torque monsters. so that sled could pull mid 13's in the 1/4 stock if it was a 442. Im guessing it was a cutlass with a 350 because of the lack of ram air and looked like it had a open diff.

  • thats the stock oil system...plenty of easy to do, aftermarket oil systems for the 455...the only flaw

  • lovely cars 442 is a monster didnt hook worth shit and still won. are they both stock?

  • Cool to see two nice GM A bodies going at it. They don't make em like that anymore. The Olds 442's are my favorite. Had a '77 and an '87 442 with t-tops and all the options. Still wish I has her. Got to get my garage up and I'll be looking for another one..:)
