How come pro players are rarely seen using Falco or Fox's reflector as a defensive move against projectiles rather than just shine spiking offensively?

@supersmash43 well mainly because a shine can be camcelled when u dont reflect anything. you can jump out of it. but when you actually reflect something with your reflector you cant cancel the shine into jump anymore and are stuck in the reflector for a moment, giving the enemy a chance to advance on you, so on the highest level of play its better to dodge projectiles than reflect it. BUT sometimes it is used to reflect stuff when a situation calls for is. especially samus fully charged B

The d-throw trick can be escaped out of easily of you realize it's happening, but Forward is insane when it comes to applying pressure to someone, so it would be difficult to actually press or side step or roll in the heat of the moment.

Also, forward is a great player, "failures" included or not.

First of all it's called edge hogging, not edge guarding. Edge guarding is defending the stage to make sure your knocked off opponent won't safely make it back. Second, if you think edge hogging is cheating then basically everything else about competitive Smash must be cheating as well.

Edge hogging isn't shameful. It's just one tactic to ensure your efforts to take out an opponent don't go to waste. If you disagree, you're wasting your time watching Smash videos.

Marth is more or less any spacies' worst enemy. He is really good at juggling and edgeguarding them.

However, that's what you have to deal with to get good at a character. Just because Forward is a good Falco doesn't mean he isn't completely immune to Marth's bullshit, but he can almost definitely avoid and get around it a LOT better than average Falcos can.

Forward has a similar style, he also can get a kills in the same way with one shine or uptilt or something. The reason marth is better is because marth has a much better chance to escape the quick killing abilities of pros because of how much quicker he can recover from attacks. However falco has too much hitlag from marths moves, plus falco can escape from chain throws if they are done right, which mew2king usually does.
