  • I swear one of those mathematicians is nicholas cage

  • @KLiNKiN07 I'm one of the forty.

  • great video!! but does the host need to be so sinister??

  • What is the name of the first soundtrack?

  • These mathematicians are getting their numbers mixed up. The pool ball analogy only works if you suppose there is a boundary to space, and that particles occupy finite spaces. If there is no boundary to space then particles can be infinitely far away from each other, or if particles can be moved an infinitely small distance then no two universes need ever be the same. If you were to destroy this supposed exact copy of our universe, how many universes would there be left? It's still infinite.

  • @KLiNKiN07

I still dont grasp what youre saying ??

Maybe i was taking it to seriously , but thats only because i dont understand your point here.

Can you explain it to me ??

  • @KLiNKiN07 Thats not a fact its an percentage.

  • Comment removed

  • @liilaalee It looks like i will need to explain why i sayd this.

To make something a fact rather than a simple speculation you will need to prove the total percentage.

If can not prove the total percentage than this percantage will become only a percentage.

So when i say 70 procent of the worlds population is a violent murderer.

Or only 1 procent of the worlds population is starving from hunger.

This wont make it a FACT its a percentage build from a speculation.

  • @liilaalee Maybe it really is 60 procent maybe its even more.

But when you throw some percentages on the reactions with out any argument or prove that this percentage is reall.

Why should i believe this then ???

  • Hey can someone tell me - hypothetically of course - if there is a ratio of 100:1 planets with no life on them to planets with life on them, and the universe is infinite (therefore holds infinite planets), are there more planets in the universe without life?

  • @Sandcat87 If the universe is infinite there is the same number of planets with and without life, even in the ratio of 10:1 -- infinite!

  • - try this - imagine the biggest thing you can and then the smallest thing you can - now reverse the names you've given them but keep their concept in mind - this kinda helps with understanding infinity -

  • Now i remember why i stopped watching this, they started talking about counting numbers and i wanted to know how space can be infinite. It might take a couple of years to find any answers to that, but that numbercounting feels just too worthless.

  • @MGX890 I see it sounds very interesting. dreams can offer us amazing insights. but don't be mistaken by your emotions in case they were making u think you had made an amazing revelation when you didn't you just feel like u did but who knows perhaps something has come about in ur dream. as they said ur subconscious is smarter than your conscious thoughts so who knows? perhaps. It may have something to do with exponential growth of climbing the stairs which could help us reach higher dimensions.

  • @deanmullen10 don't you see that I did have an amsing revelation? it worked didn't it?

  • @MGX890 yes thats what I am refering to, you see to have found a method to perform an infinite number of steps in a finite period of time yet requiring new laws of physics but yes it is certainly true.

  • BuzzLightYear on top right!?

  • This episode is the biggest mind F..K

  • top marks to the BBC.

  • may we pity the person who disgraced this video with a dislike.

  • according to this documentary, i fucked paril hilton up the ass 17 times in one universe and in another i stuck my dick in a blender, in another i was einstein. in another i had sex with a lion(pretty gross i can't believe it), in another i kicked a sharks ass, in another i ate pop corn for breakfast with toothpaste as topping everyday. lol this stuff is so mind blowing

  • @clikityclankz hahahaha

  • they need to sack their producers. Shocking.

  • This would had been so much better if not for that twat of a narrator....

  • if you rise into the realm of existence onto infinity (universes, multiverse, hyperspace and beyond) maybe if you rise every possibility must occur and then even impossibilities emerge and if you look at it there must be a point were the possibility of nothing finally emerges thus there maybe a place containing nowhere that separates us from other realms of existence that are truly unpercievable.

  • @deanmullen10 I had a dream I was a demigod stuck on a staircase of infinite length. I suddenly had a revelation! I should take my first step in half a second, 2nd step in half of the previous step (1/4) and every next step in half the time of the previous one. So I commenced. Within onse second I got to the top! ANd I vaguely glipsed at something truly amasing... but sadly I woke up... I think it had something to do with 42... ?

  • infinity by its definition means that we will never reach it...the sooner some of these intelligent idiots learn to accept that the sooner they can focus their minds on the real problems facing mankind....

  • @justgerry1 Infinities exist in our universe, such as the singularities within black holes. The sooner these "idiots" can find out what this means, the sooner we will have an entirely new model of physics.

  • @9hello123, how can you be so certain of what really exists or goes on within black holes ? No one has actually seen the inside of a blackhole. Time can always be measured so for something to be TRULLY infinite it has to exist outside of time and space. Therefore the numerical value 0 is ACTUALLY the closest to infinity that anything can really get. And, 0 or "nothing" does not even actually exist as the empty vacume of space proves with dark matter & dark energy. Nothing is always something.

  • @holographicable You don't understand what dark matter or dark energy is as they have nothing to do with what you just said. And no time can't always be measured, in a black hole time ceases to exist. And exactly, we can't be sure what really goes on within black holes yet because we don't understand what happens when space time is infinitely warped.

  • @9hello123, Dark Matter & Energy have nothing to do with it YOU say, yet 70% of the entire universe is DARK MATTER. So, NOW then the very fabric of Space (thus spacetime) is made of it !! Lol, it has everything to do with TIME IF you trully understand the basic standard model of physics ! Research the term 'SPACETIME', which Albert Einstein came up with. Einstein already proved that SPACE & TIME are directly linked intertwined & essentially one. Thus, the term SPACETIME.

  • @holographicable Spacetime is not made of dark matter or dark energy. You really haven't understood general relativity.

  • @9hello123, lol that's BECAUSE dark matter & energy weren't even discovered when Einstein developed the theory of Relativity so the energy which is the vacume of empty space was then not known during Einstein's time. But what people often forget is that the Big Bang itself is just a theory ! I mean you can argue what was there before because IF space is all there really is then it has to be infinite. So, your entitled to have a different opinion. The Big Bang to me has apparent flaws.

  • @holographicable You're either an idiot or just taking the piss, either way I'm not going to argue with an idiot or someone taking the piss.

  • @9hello123, you're obviously very INSECURE and paranoid of what you say, like anything you said is even worth arguing.

Afterall, everything you speak is only theoritical. Save it no need to try and explain a THEORY about blackholes which you cannot prove beyond a doubt. That's right!

  • @9hello123, Besides time is so irrelavent in the grand scheme of the universe as Einstein's theory of Relativity proves TIME is ONLY relavent to the observer. The SPEED at which an object travels and its resting mass determine time, why BECAUSE both directly effect SPACE ! Space directly effects time and is virtually inseperable. Examples, different time zones around the world, outerspace travel, etc.

  • @9hello123, Learn to look at the bigger picture if you really want to understand the universe everything in the universe is connected. Speed & Mass as well as the strong and weaker nuclear forces in the universe which hold the nuclei of atoms together seperates all matter. Yet if you could move past the speed of light TIME ITSELF would be IRRELAVENT and you would see the universe for what it really is ONE big ball of energy!

  • @9hello123, and you're saying that black holes exist OUTSIDE the fabric of SPACE so time no longer exists, yet once again I ask you how do you know what exists inside of a blackhole ????? Furthermore, how do you even know that it truly exists outside of SPACE ???? Especially IF space is all there really is !! If space is really ALL there really is and space is actually something such as dark matter than nothing or infinity does not exist because space according to the big bang has a beginning.

  • the most simple way of putting the infinite is, it takes a finite period of time to understand the finite and and it takes a finite mind to comprehend the finite yet it takes an infinite period of time to understanding the infinite and it takes an infinite mind to comprehend the infinite.

Yet even if we somehow tried to exist till Infinity A.D. it wouldn't be possible as between there and now we must collapse! So even though the knowledge of infinity is there in pieces we cannot put it togehter

  • the Infinite only appears bizzare and complex to our finite minds, if we somehow attained infinite knowledge everythign would make sense just for e.g. if you are in an Infinite universe seemingly of no end if you were blown up to Infinity your in the same level as the universe itself thus your horizon would now be change and go from Infinite to finite thus you would see the end to it, so Infinity maybe comprehend-able if you had an Infinite mind but for us its impossible to imagine conclusively.

  • waaaauw this is deep !

  • 1 with a hundred zeroes? bigger than the number of atoms in the universe?

    sounds like the national debt.

Soon we will be borrowing atoms from other universes so we can print all of the money.

  • To INFINITY AND... (Disney, lawsuit.) ...Um, uh, some other place else.

  • This is probably the best episode of Horizon I've ever watched.

  • I would never have imagined that a hundred zeros would be higher than the number of atoms in the observable universe.

  • @Xavicat14 More atoms than the entire universe....I dont think so. I study Physics and that seems improbable.

  • @Snowboarder54688 it's not more atoms than the entire universe.. it says that the number is bigger than the number of atoms in the observable universe... so since the observable universe it's finite.. you can easily make some calculation to find out how much matter there is in it and find out how many atoms compose this matter and after that compare the numbers with a googol or with a googolplex :) i find it hard to believe you study physics since you can't understand an easy explanation :)

  • @BullRadu My mistake, I know what you mean and thats what I meant to write. I do understand it, just incorrect grammer. Thank you for pointing it out though :)

  • @Xavicat14 Yeah,,, Me too.. I feel skeptic about the credibility of this claim...

  • Comment removed

  • @Xavicat14 You've got to remember that everytime you add a zero you times it by ten. Try thinking about 1cm then 10cm then 1m then 10m, 100m, 1km and so on and you will start to see why its so big.

  • One thing we can be sure about is that there's an infinite amount of nobs on the net...

  • @29Gixxer Everyone thumbs up this comment.

  • Ladies and gentlemen pray silence as i present to you.....infinity

  • Comment removed

  • ... again and again and again ...

  • this documentry is amazing! well done to the makers of this show, but you know they have made this an infinity and will contue to be made an infinate more

  • my brain melted when they started talk about those huge numbers xD more atoms than in the whole observable universe?? a number so big theres not enough room to write it in the whole observable universe??? holy Shit D:

  • If the universe goes on forever, everything possible must happen not just once but an infinite amount of times, thus since you know you are possible as you exist, you must exist not just once but an Infinite amount of times, and since space & time are relative you must exist not just Infinity throughout space, but eternal throughout time and thus your life is eternal and thus since this life appears finite, there must be an after-life.

  • @deanmullen10

The thing is,infinity(in the sense that you describe)may not be real.

I agree that if it is you are probably correct but maybe we humble primates are only capable of understanding reality to a limited extent which puts us in a kind of confused feedback loop where neither infinity nor the finite make any real sense.

    Just a thought........

  • @RandomVortex yeah, the only way to conprehend infinity, is to catch up with it, like imagine 10EINFINITY as 10, 11EINFINITY as 11, it dont matter bout dat if its true or wat eva the point is, we maybe able to understand the beyond us, if we just make a sudden mathermatical leap and drag infinity back to the realm of understandment, u know like?

  • @deanmullen10

Well you make as much sense as anybody else(myself included)with regard to this matter.

For example infinity may well suggest that not only is there both a God and an afterlife but there are an infinite amount of these Gods and afterlifes and so on....

I personally find that Infinity is simply perplexing(yet truly fascinating!)

The finite also seems to throw up more than a few little paradoxical bitch slaps.

  • The2012: As I said it is our invention so as to understand universe around us, the concept of infinite too is totally man made, Slower or faster means nothing in nature it is only relevant to us.

  • infinity surly exists as a singularity percieves us as infinite in size, in that sense anything rational is infinite compared to views of others, thus the universe is infinite yet with an end, yet not a beginning, thus we reverse it to make sense, the edge of the universe is the start and the singularity is the end, makes sense yet proves infinity essentialey.

  • I am sorry to disapoint all who think that time is a prime dimention, sorry time as we know and we want is a pure invention of human mind to understand how things work, it simply does not exist- it is our invention. Read Avecina on the beginning of existence.

  • @60mano if time dont exist, then how come scientists proved things appear to travel faster and slower through time and looking at some theories it shows we create reality thus time exists if we want it too

  • I Love commenting here, I suppose I shouldn't comment too much so just view my full theory around Infinity

    [w w w].mytheories.webs.[c o m]

  • now time must be eternal, time cannot have a beginning its impossible how can a beginning be created without time? time must be eternal.

Now Einstein showed us space and time is inter-connected so with the existence of an eternity there's an infinity, in other words this means eternity exists and thus infinity exists thus time is eternal and space is Infinite, please tell me if you say anything wrong with it, cause i certainly dont notice any problem with my theory.

  • "bbc horizon - infinity and beyond" is very self-contradictory document.

how can infinite universe guarantee that everything will happen, if e.g. all numbers group and all even numbers group are both considered to be infinitely large?

  • @mykhal its confusing but if you take Infinity dived by Infinity = Infinity this means an Infinite No. of anything possible must occur the evidence speaks for itself, imagine you travelled into space and kept ongoing looking for one particular thing, if your voyage was eternal you will eventually find it.

  • too many fallacies mentioned in this video. I can not begin to start. this video does not put forward anything new.

  • The entire videos are nothing but some thin imaginary view without any sense or tauch of Logic.

1050 years ago The mathematicians and philosophers of Persia discussed it in Details by infering the reelm of possibilities and definition of applied "infinity" in mathematics and logical arithmatic.

Infinite time and number of repetetive mind less act by you too can not produce a quadrupole of Khayyam let aside texts from books.

The Falasies are requested to be checked.

Here it is used a lot

  • The biggest number is finite. An infinite number would be undefinable, as any number you could come up with would be a finite point on an infinite scale.

  • @Stringprodigy for every x there is a number equal to x+1. So yeah, the biggest number is undefinable.
