@Dilster3k, owning an Apple hardware doesn't mean you're better than others. I own some Apple stuff, some custom computers running Windows and Linux but I really don't get what guys feels about owning Apple products. They're not even worth millions of dollars to be proud of. The richest geek in the whole world doesn't even use apple hardware (that's Bill Gates, by the way). I mean, if you want to feel you like you're richer than all non-apple users, then go ahead. But accept the fact that some
Hello and thanks for the tutorial... I'm trying to do this but you didn't say anything about where you got the FakeSMC.kext, I don't know if that's an empty text file saved with that name or if it is a file that I have to download from somewhere... Can you clarify that please?
Good god guys who cares what you own. Its what you've accomplished. And mainly what kind of person you are. Are you kind, intelligent, openminded, interesting, and friend worthy person. If you can check all of those boxes then maybe you've got something to brag about (but u probably shouldn't). Money is no measure of a Man.
@Dilster3k hahaha fu man. i own more than you'll ever own and still don't want to fucking give even 100 euros for this piece of shit. i want to hack an old pc thought and mess around with mac there. what's your problem? :D
@s4ngreal You have no idea who're talking to, my father owns a huge worldwide company that is insanely successful. Also my parents have their own airline, so I highly doubt you "own" more than I do. You don't even use CAPs, do I don't need to bother.
@Dilster3k hahaha caps he said. THERE'S SOME CAPS, MOTHERFUCKER! also if i were THAT rich (preper use of caps?) i would be doing something else than replying back to some guy. I do have good money but like real world money not your kind. How 3 houses, 4 cars, 2 bikes sound to you? how about a fucking ipad. AN IPAD REALLY! that's how i roll!
@s4ngreal You're probably younger than 16 years of age. 3 houses, 4 cars... 2 bikes... erm.. and an iPad... Wow you're really bad ass. 2 bikes and an iPad that can't be topped.
But in all seriousness, stop acting like someone you aren't kid. What you mentioned isn't really impressive. Three houses and four cars isn't really considered high standard.
@bcta302 If you have a plastic watch and I have a Rolex.. Both of them just show the time right? Maybe yours has more feature than my Rolex, and you paid 10,000 less. But no one cares about your watch. If you have a lame Toyota and I had a Lambordhini, maybe your car has more features.. But no one fucking cares about your car.
You seem to know a lot about watches and cars, but nothing about computers.
Go learn and come back making some sense. Come back talking about software and hardware, and not talking about comparisons and examples of other things.
--
In my other comments I stated the truth and only the truth... you replied with a childish comment.
@bcta302 You stated facts, but you also mixed your own opinion which isn't the right thing to do either. I don't "just" care about skin, logo and the user interface on Macs. Macs have great software, Windows have great software.
My MacBook Pro has a SSD with 2 partitions, one with OS X 7.6 and one with Windows 7 (For Games and Windows exclusive software) and my MacBook Pro also has great specs.
@bcta302 What is up with all the lame banter about silly stuff. Look fellas unless your talking about something quantitive like 1+1=2 or a science, nobody really knows shit. Unless its science then its just opinion and thats all. I have both a PC and MacBookAir(256GB i5) because i couldn't find a lite, powerful, beautiful PC. I love the thing because its absolutely beautiful both inside and out. Everyone loves beauty! Not to mention the need for NO Antivirus protection. Thats just me though....
It was a good tutorial, but before doing an actual video, try rehearsing, and proof reading your stuff. I can tell the reason why you messed up, was because you didn't include in between the command and the drive path. Also, you put and "r" infront of the device name such as, /dev/rdisk1s1. It's supposed to be /dev/disk1s1 in your example. I realized this as I was following your directions. Hope this helps.
"TRIAL-WARE" ... one of the most annoying thing in commercial operating systems. Also, it's one of the main reasons I left Windows and MacOSX in favor of Linux and *BSDs.-
Nice walkthrough though. I had a hard time installing previous versions of MacOSX. The newest one failed on me so I eventually gave up. Anyhow, I don't think I miss too much.
@strelok1911 50,000 views and this is the first negative comment, I'd say that's a pretty good ratio. I'm going to leave this up here to show people what it looks like to be a douche. Give this a thumbs up if you think strelok1911's comment is douche(ey) behavior....we get it man your not happy or something, but FYI I love u and hope you cheer up a little.
@MarleyNicholeTravis this made me laugh lol, i have a question though. last time i tried installing Ideneb on my computer along time ago when i was installing it, it removed access into windows. will that happen if i do this? I have an alienware m15x.
@strataxx I'm not sure what you're talking about when you say Ideneb, but I think I kinda know what your talking about, and all you have to do is re-install your boot loader, and that should give you back your access to windows. Yeah this tutorial is way outdated, this was made back when the first Developer preview came out. Now it's ridiculously simple to install Lion...
@MarleyNicholeTravis its like hackintosh and such. oh it is? i havent seen any recent instructions, i just downloaded a retail version from pirate bay, will that work? thanks
@strataxx Yes that will work, I can't really give you detailed instructions at the moment (would take way to much time). But can refer you to this guide
@MarleyNicholeTravis This site is a really good source to Learn about Running OSX on on Mac hardware. There is also a dual-boot tutorial in this site as well for booting OSX and Windows 7. FYI strataxx, go to that site and burn iBoot to a disk(& Boot from it) if you want to access your windows setup temporarily. Also theres a program called MultiBeast which will allow u to install Chimera boot loader, this allows you to dual boot and access both OS's without the need to boot from a disk
@MarleyNicholeTravis thank you, i will look into all that once i receive my ide to sata adapter. why would i have to install snow leopard before lion though?
@strataxx weird search for "iboot + multibeast" in google and the 1st link is the snow leopard guide. Yeah U have to install snow leopard 1st then u can install Lion. I'm not really sure why I think it has something to do with it being a download only OS in the very beginning. Install that then search for "Xmove" in google and the first link is the Lion guide, both are easy. Maybe u can install Lion now without SL 1st ??, Im kinda out of the scene as I got a new MBA i5 256GB, which F-ing great!
@MarleyNicholeTravis soon of a b.... how can you tell other they can get lion through tpb... hope you will rue this someday -.- fucking piracy bitches
@TRG2221 Dude are you that ignorant, this is a Developer Preview install guide which is FREE! to developers, So Yeah I really don't see the harm in "Pirating/Distributing" FREE software.... maybe you would have been happier if I charged people for software that was originally free..jeesh people come on
And yes you should buy The official Version of Lion from the App store now, its only 30 bucks which is ridiculously cheap for an OS.
@TRG2221 I know right how shitty of me to show people how to install a beta Version of OS X. I think its pretty damn cool to be on the bleeding edge so if u wanna be a douche about it I could really care less, I love Apple and I don't see the harm in this. This was back when I had a Hackintosh, which was running a *Pirated* Copy of Snow Leopard because I was broke @ the time. Then I fell in love with OSX which lead to me buying A $1600 MBA from Apple. Moral=Piracy is bad for Apple???? Nope
Respond to this video... Oh and I forgot to say the only thing installing a Beta version of OSX is going to do, is get you excited for the Retail version. The only reason Apple doesn't let anyone install Betas is because well its a Beta and shits not going to be perfect, but do they really care if I install a DP on my machine, why the hell would they, wanna See my $1600 Macbook Air I bought from Apple, check out my vids, I'm so sure I'm going rue (?WTF who says rue) this someday....
you said that you would have to pay 30 or 40 bucks for a program to partition a HD in windows?? TRY start>run>compmgmt.msc then select disk management
Yeah, the two programs aren't even comparable, thanks for nothing...:) just dicking around but 'seriously they aren't even close to equivalent.....I say this because never, ever was able to get the windows "equivalent" to do what was necessary or what I wanted it to do...So I had to purchase a $40 program to get the job done
Hi,I've successfully installed Lion 3 weeks ago but today after a power failure my system won't boot anymore, it gets stuck at a line saying something like UUID error , strange thing is it would boot from SATA 3 port but not SATA 6, another thing is in the bios setup in Boot Device Priority, My HDD: WDC WD1002F has changed to IDE: WDC WD1002F when i'm using SATA 6!
I'm using AHCI in storage configuration but have no clue why it says IDE!
Just Got my 2011 Macbook Air 13" Core i5 with the 256gb SSD....Hell Yeah..... so look at my channel for the unboxing and soon to come is a MBA 13"/OS X Lion Review
Hackintosh is straight forward but all of the variables (hardware) is very obscure and takes a while to install if you start from scratch using DSDT editor with 0 help but the forums you read. I feel you on the 3 or 4 day install :|
@monfard0 Yes you could dual boot with windows (my machine was Windows/Lion/Snow Leopard) and if you have to format any drive or part of a drive you will erase all the data in doing so....
Does anybody know if there is a usb wireless adapter for wifi for Mac os x lion? Please anyone I need help and I just built my 1st hackintosh and I really need Internet!
@rushabssssss those are my specs exactly lol. I've been running hackintosh on vanilla kernel for several years with those parts, right now i'm runnin 10.6.8. The Lion installer, which oddly i've gotten to run once, and complete, always has kernel panic. I have tried so many ways i am stumped, but people INSIST that our hardware is compatible, and if i'm running 10.6.8, upgrading to lion should be no problem.
I have a question. The other day, my brother installed the new Mac OS X 10.7 Lion on my MacBook, and my Windows Partition doesn't boot anymore...Do you think there's a way I can get it back? I'm not sure if it's completely gone...But I had a lot of videos and other important stuff that was on there...It says "disk0s4" and it's not mounted...
i'm trying to install lion but i get an error ''Mac OS X 10.7 lion can only be installed on Core 2 duo........'' I have a core 2 duo cpu so why wont this install?
@LlednarWerdna Your suggesting I switch editing software half way through the project.....??? And I was having fun playing with my new toy and also I movie is pretty damn sweet!!! Im no expert movie editor, I just thought I would play around and spread some knowledge so I really didn't want to use the high end type software for the video, I would imagine there is somewhat of a learning curve for the high-end video editing software?
@MarleyNicholeTravisiMovie great vid btw, iMovie is great and i use to use it a lot, and i got final cut express (not X) and it was extremely hard to get used to, from using iMovie and pinnacle for years, but now i have a pretty good grip on FCE now, and i have gotten motion 5 and i have no idea where to start with that program.
Instead of pirating this stuff and being illegal, just buy a mac mini for $599 that COMES WITH Lion. Then, if you want to run windows, just buy a ridiculously overpriced copy of Windows 7 for $100 ish and boot camp it.
@JamEngulfer221 Who said anything about pirated software. Lion used to be a developer preview and was free to developers, so I really don't se the issue with distributing free software. Yes Mac Minis are kind of cheap but the PC laptop I'm using would cost at the very least double to replace with a Macbook Pro of similar specs. But, But...it doesn't have a all aluminum unibody frame that would last forever (almost) or a battery that last anywhere near 5-7 hours. I'm on a Lion Hackintosh at...
@JamEngulfer221 ....at the moment which was running a legal purchased retail copy of Snow Leopard, then I purchased Lion from the app store to install in place of Snow Leopard. But I do think if you are truly broke and can't afford something, then and only then do I think it is somewhat ok for you to use pirated software (I am a broke student). Macs aren't expensive there valuable, and therefore cost more than PC equivalents, but you get a whole lot of value 4 ur money, fixing to get a new Air!
@JamEngulfer221 You know I'm not really sure if it is illegal to install OS X on non-Apple hardware, I think its just frowned upon. Because the site were I learned to do the Hackintosh thing tonymacx86 (dot) com....will not allow talk of anything but retail DVD/App Store Purchased installations of OS X because of legal issues....not really sure though,i think it might have changed with the jailbreak court case decision (to lazy to Google this second....wow I'm lazy)
nice tut, xmove worked for me, but i cant seem to get the app stoe working.. i got the " your device could not be verified " working and i can download and sign in but half the apps will open then crash and close ? ETC, free app " alpine crawler " just opens and closes.. my system information recognizes the hd 4870 but on display pref. will only let me have 1024x578 and only fw apps open.. any ideaS?
@MrGskillz Uh yeah, you need Snow Leopard first, and that's pretty easy. Just go too tonymacx86(dot org) and look at the iboot+Multibeast method. And this is on a PC. That's what hackintosh means, silly;)
Just FYI. There is a free utility in Windows that does the exact same thing as Disk Utility in OSX. It's called Disk Management and you access it by right-clicking "My computer" and selecting "Manage".
@xQsNGamingx Usually when you run into errors it is best to go back to step one and start fresh. There is just so many different things it could be it's easier to start fresh.
Danm this is soo complicated as a guid to screw your pc... all you need is download the dmg. image of Lion, bung it into a bootable DVD (Dual Layer) + a Bootdisk to make Lion boot and install and your set... download any kexts that you need for your hackintosh and enjoy!
I was able to find this particular working effectively by means of roulettecash=org, My partner and i had been skeptical at very first, nevertheless these people permit me use the software package for for nothing.
You don't really have to do any of this.. Download the torrent with the .dmg partition your hard drive and when you start up the .dmg and it asks which drive to install to choose the other partition.
@eNvFx I'm just curious were you are getting your information from. You do realize these are instructions for installing Lion on a PC Right. I'm not trying to be a smart ass FYI just curious.
@MarleyNicholeTravis I got my information from me doing everything I said in my previous comment. And no since I didn't watch the video entirely I figured it was for Mac since there is no real reason why someone on PC would need to get an unreleased OS X.
@eNvFx Trust me there's plenty of reasons. Mainly because its fuck:*g sweet. You would be surprised how well OS X runs on some PC's. But yes of course if I had the money for a Macbook Pro or an iMac I would have one. Until then I will be satisfied with my hyrid:)
As for Mac on PC... I geekbench better on osx86 than on windows 7 and my friend's $2,500 mac pro from a couple years ago. After 2 osx86 PCs and being burned from Apple for not repairing my macbook pro, eating over $1,500, I don't see why I would need or want to go back to Apple hardware again.
Can't get keyboard (trackpad works, tried voodooPS2), audio (tried voodooHDA), and graphics card (works not all vram detected/not full resolution, tried nvenabler 64. This is all that I know of that doesn't work correctly but I can't tell for sure until system gets past keyboard search.
@deanschreiber12 Well thats a hard question to answer. I would say after 15 minutes if the installer doesn't show restart. If u have already installed it shouldn't take but one or two minutes max I would think. I;m no expert though
Is there a way to do this without booting from USB?
I have an Asus p5q pro mobo which cannot (to my knowledge) boot from USB. I have used iBoot from Tonymacx86 with snow leopard in the past, but that boot loader does not work with lion dev preview. Any help would be appreciated!
@travnewmatic I would think maybe u could create some kind of boot cd but I don't know how to do that. I'm sure you could use a spare hard drive plugged in through a usb or sata, though doing this is risky if u plan on using that same drive as a main drive in the future for whatever OS. However, if you just plan on using that drive for storage then you should be fine. PS if iBoot doesn't work with this use XPC, there is a link in the text description!!!
I googled how to install Lion in vmware fusion and I came across the same error. At the bottom of the webpage I saw a fixed OSInstall.mpkg file for DP2. I replaced the file with the new one, rebooted and the lion installer worked as normal. Seeing that this worked, I did the same to my mac os x install volume, rebooted, and no error (woot woot). Maybe the OSInstall.mpkg was corrupted in my lion install dmg download.
As of my most recent comment, a got an actual flashdrive and iBoot works flawlessly. I formatted my hdd, reinstalled SL and have base system on the external hdd. I boot and load up the lion installer from iboot and it says that lion can't be installed on my pc.
@deanschreiber12 Weird?? try searching for the file "PlatformSupport.plist" within the new partition you created that contains all of the Lion install files. I know this file is in the system after you install lion, but I'm unsure if it is there in the installation files. This file prevents unsupported hardware from booting Lion. If the files not there Google around to see if u can find out why u get that error, also give the installer a few more tries! Let me know if u get it working or not?
@MarleyNicholeTravis Yes, the file is indeed in the mac os x base system. What do I do it: delete it, edit it (in that case, what do I edit) or get a different file?
@deanschreiber12 Oh, my bad, yeah just delete it and see if you have any luck. Then after you install Lion you have to delete it again before you can boot into Lion. Look at my guide to show you were it is located after you install. Good Luck
@MarleyNicholeTravis I deleted the PlatformSupport.plist file. Didn't work. How about the SystemVersion.plist file?
Google doesn't help all that much since Lion hasn't been officially released and not many people have installed it on their macs, and even fewer have on their PCs.
@deanschreiber12 Let me make sure to tell u that after you delete the file that you re-install Lion. Tell me a little bit about more were it is "exactly' that you get this message??
@MarleyNicholeTravis can you help me install this on my PC, It is AMD I can't seem to get iBoot or XPC to show up via flash drive. It's so tough for me to figure out. If you could help via skype or some other IM client that'd be great thanks.
@aerosmithkor To be honest with you I have no idea if there is a modified kernel for AMD processor's (which is what u need) to allow someone to run Lion on an AMD chip. I just googled around really quickly and didn't find much. This is what you need to know to tell you if you can run Lion on your AMD chip before you take any further steps!!!! Let me know if there is a MODIFIED KERN(E)AL for AMD chips and I will try and help. LOVING all the conversation hear guys!!!
@MarleyNicholeTravis ok instead of my desktop i have a laptop, Dell Inspiron N5010 with an Intel HD graphics card, 3gb of ram, intel core i3 350m cpu and IDT audio broadcom 4313bgn wireless and realtek 8120ethernet. If you can instead help with that laptop and putting Lion on it that would be great. thanks
@aerosmithkor I'm sorry I'm a little confused, I thought I did help by putting this Guide up. You have everything you need in the Video guide and in the Instructions in the description. Also look at peoples commemts to see if they can possibley help u out. It might seem a little overwhelming at first but watchy the video and justy do one step at a time. you can get it running in no time if you follow the guide.
I went to office max and got a "legit" flashdrive (before I was using an external HDD), used to iBoot setup wizard in Windows, rebooted, and iBoot worked perfectly on the first try! I will now partition the external HDD with a GUID partition scheme so I can install lion on it.
@deanschreiber12 Sweeeeeet!!! Pretty damn cool isn't it. Hope you enjoy Lion. The Golden Master Developer Preview should be released in the near future, I'd say maybe 6 weeks. When that happens Lion should be damn close (if not) a Retail ready OS.
I tried to fire up the lion installer from my current bootloader (PC EFI 10.6 which is supposed to work in lion) and the PC flashed a black screen with a white bar at the to for a half second and then the system rebooted. I just now tried to fire up the installer with in snow leopard by clicking the installation file on the "Mac OS X Base System" volume and the installer said "Mac OS 10.7 is not available". So does this indicate the reason why my installer won't start in the first place?
@deanschreiber12 No it doesn't indicate any reason why it wont boot (at least to me it doesn't), But if you'll look in the text description there are links to two other bootloaders that should boot Lion. Most people have been having a lot of luck with iBoot when you install it through Windows. If you don't have a dual boot machine grab a friends/libraries/schools with Windows on it and install iBoot, but you can try and install iBoot from within SL as I show in the video..........
@deanschreiber12 .........But this method seems to be a little hit and miss. Try and reinstall your Bootloader again and give it another go, also try and boot many times as it doesn't always the 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd time. Does the "Black screen with white bar" display after you have selected the Lion partition? or at the very beginning before you are able to select a partition?? Let me know i will try and help.
I prepared iboot to your exact instructions and it still didn't work. I boot from the drive and get the error "Brre Abort". I use an external harddrive as my flash drive since my flash drive is dead (I know for a fact that it is bootable)
@deanschreiber12 If you noticed In the video I said I couldn't get iBoot installed properly within OSX. I had to use Windows to prepare and install iBoot which I recommend you do also. And you could try the other 2 Bootloaders that are capable of Booting Lion, XPC and a version of Chameleon (only install these to a external drive) which there links are in the text description of the Video. Let me know if you get it working.
@reginabashee Thanks for the compliment...Love to hear that, I had trouble getting Lion to work after reading all the guides so I figured a lot of other people were having the same issues, and also I mostly I wanted to play with iMovie....and yeah the glasses were for anonymity's sake, although I'm not sure how well that really works :)

@Multinic18 Come on man do you really think I can answer that, this OS isn't even out on the market yet and its made for Macs. At this time regardless of if you could run it (and u very well might be able to), I don't think you would want to use it as your main OS. This is a Developer Preview and has a few bugs. The next DP will be a GM (the actual retail Version). And when that happens maybe you could use as ur main OS, doubtful though unless u had a Mac. Try the tutorial and see if it runs!
@MarleyNicholeTravis Just a note to this response, whenever the Hackintosh community gets up to speed (it;s hard to say how long 3-9 months). Most all who can run Snow Leopard as a MAIN OS, should be able to use Lion as a main OS. So no worries!!!
"""""TO ALL...IF you want to install iBoot from Snow Leopard Choose "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)” and a GUID partition table instead of what is shown in the Video."""""""""""""
Alternatively you can set up iBoot up in Windows with 2 clicks of ur mouse!!!!
@deanschreiber12 Check the video again and the text description,#1 I recommend using windows to prepare and install iBoot. As for XPC I believe you just run an installer and choose your usb Drive, I have not used it personally to boot Lion I just now it can be used to do this so just Google around. #2 Open “Disk Utility.app” and erase your USB drive and modify the “Format” to “Mac OS Extended (Journaled)” and use GUID partition table. #3 Yes Some of your kexts will, Try them one at a time!!
@deanschreiber12 Yes in windows you click once to prepare the USB and then run the program again to install iBoot. What you could try hear is go ahead and prepare/install iBoot. Then maybe try some different versions of it (google around), so open up the usb and look at all the files, then open up a different version of iBoot (without installing) and and then replace ""all"" of the same files/folders that are on USB with the different iBoot Version files/folders. Then try and boot, let me know
@deanschreiber12 I've also updated the instructions to include two other bootloaders that you should be able to boot Lion with. Just download and install them to a USB drive.
@ionutparola Check the Video again, use PathFinder and make sure you have "show invisible files" by right clicking the Lion.dmg.......get info then "show invisible files"...you cant see it because it is a invisible file
NVM (Never mind)! I got it to work! So you install Lion on the Lion Hackintosh HD. Then you delete the PlatformSupport.plist. Then (this is what is not in your tutorial) you need to add fakeSMC.kext to the Hackintosh HD. So it works now!

Hello and thanks for the tutorial... I'm trying to do this but you didn't say anything about where you got the FakeSMC.kext, I don't know if that's an empty text file saved with that name or if it is a file that I have to download from somewhere... Can you clarify that please?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you're mad because people can get for under $500 and even $400 what you others get for +$800.
These things, being able to port Mac OS to less expensive hardware, shows how stupid Apple knows its die hard fans are.
-
Apple fanboys and girls just care about the skin and logo of the hardware and the theme of the GUI on the software.
-
Real computer enthusiasts like to have choices of brands, they don't like being stuck with a hardware in order to get certain software.

And that's what Macs are to PC's.
Dilster3k 3 weeks ago
@Dilster3k
You seem to know a lot about watches and cars, but nothing about computers.
Go learn and come back making some sense. Come back talking about software and hardware, and not talking about comparisons and examples of other things.
--
In my other comments I stated the truth and only the truth... you replied with a childish comment.
bcta302 3 weeks ago
@bcta302 You stated facts, but you also mixed your own opinion which isn't the right thing to do either. I don't "just" care about skin, logo and the user interface on Macs. Macs have great software, Windows have great software.
My MacBook Pro has a SSD with 2 partitions, one with OS X 7.6 and one with Windows 7 (For Games and Windows exclusive software) and my MacBook Pro also has great specs.
Dilster3k 3 weeks ago

@MarleyNicholeTravis this made me laugh lol, i have a question though. last time i tried installing Ideneb on my computer along time ago when i was installing it, it removed access into windows. will that happen if i do this? I have an alienware m15x.
strataxx 6 months ago
@strataxx I'm not sure what you're talking about when you say Ideneb, but I think I kinda know what your talking about, and all you have to do is re-install your boot loader, and that should give you back your access to windows. Yeah this tutorial is way outdated, this was made back when the first Developer preview came out. Now it's ridiculously simple to install Lion...
MarleyNicholeTravis 6 months ago
@MarleyNicholeTravis its like hackintosh and such. oh it is? i havent seen any recent instructions, i just downloaded a retail version from pirate bay, will that work? thanks
strataxx 6 months ago
@strataxx Yes that will work, I can't really give you detailed instructions at the moment (would take way to much time). But can refer you to this guide
tonymacx86.blogspot**.com**/2010/04/iboot-multibeast-install-mac-os-x-on.html
This is to install Snow Leopard which you must install right now in order to install Lion. So do that then go here
tonymacx86.blogspot**.com**/2011/07/xmove-multibeast-install-os-x-107-lion.html
And use that guide to install Lion, This is the Best Guide around!!
MarleyNicholeTravis 6 months ago
@MarleyNicholeTravis This site is a really good source to Learn about Running OSX on on Mac hardware. There is also a dual-boot tutorial in this site as well for booting OSX and Windows 7. FYI strataxx, go to that site and burn iBoot to a disk(& Boot from it) if you want to access your windows setup temporarily. Also theres a program called MultiBeast which will allow u to install Chimera boot loader, this allows you to dual boot and access both OS's without the need to boot from a disk
MarleyNicholeTravis 6 months ago
@MarleyNicholeTravis thank you, i will look into all that once i receive my ide to sata adapter. why would i have to install snow leopard before lion though?
strataxx 5 months ago
@MarleyNicholeTravis both links say "page not found"
strataxx 5 months ago
@strataxx weird search for "iboot + multibeast" in google and the 1st link is the snow leopard guide. Yeah U have to install snow leopard 1st then u can install Lion. I'm not really sure why I think it has something to do with it being a download only OS in the very beginning. Install that then search for "Xmove" in google and the first link is the Lion guide, both are easy. Maybe u can install Lion now without SL 1st ??, Im kinda out of the scene as I got a new MBA i5 256GB, which F-ing great!

TRG2221 5 months ago
@TRG2221 Dude are you that ignorant, this is a Developer Preview install guide which is FREE! to developers, So Yeah I really don't see the harm in "Pirating/Distributing" FREE software.... maybe you would have been happier if I charged people for software that was originally free..jeesh people come on
And yes you should buy The official Version of Lion from the App store now, its only 30 bucks which is ridiculously cheap for an OS.
MarleyNicholeTravis 5 months ago
@MarleyNicholeTravis the developer preview was free for developers which pay... this is different.
(I know that apple now offers betas to all, but the lion 10.7 beta isn't offered to all. And I'm sure not ignorant. maybe you...
TRG2221 5 months ago
@TRG2221 I know right how shitty of me to show people how to install a beta Version of OS X. I think its pretty damn cool to be on the bleeding edge so if u wanna be a douche about it I could really care less, I love Apple and I don't see the harm in this. This was back when I had a Hackintosh, which was running a *Pirated* Copy of Snow Leopard because I was broke @ the time. Then I fell in love with OSX which lead to me buying A $1600 MBA from Apple. Moral=Piracy is bad for Apple???? Nope
MarleyNicholeTravis 5 months ago
Respond to this video... Oh and I forgot to say the only thing installing a Beta version of OSX is going to do, is get you excited for the Retail version. The only reason Apple doesn't let anyone install Betas is because well its a Beta and shits not going to be perfect, but do they really care if I install a DP on my machine, why the hell would they, wanna See my $1600 Macbook Air I bought from Apple, check out my vids, I'm so sure I'm going rue (?WTF who says rue) this someday....
MarleyNicholeTravis 5 months ago

Yeah, the two programs aren't even comparable, thanks for nothing...:) just dicking around but 'seriously they aren't even close to equivalent.....I say this because never, ever was able to get the windows "equivalent" to do what was necessary or what I wanted it to do...So I had to purchase a $40 program to get the job done

I'm using AHCI in storage configuration but have no clue why it says IDE!

LlednarWerdna 7 months ago
Hey everyone! I have an idea!
Instead of pirating this stuff and being illegal, just buy a mac mini for $599 that COMES WITH Lion. Then, if you want to run windows, just buy a ridiculously overpriced copy of Windows 7 for $100 ish and boot camp it.
Simple!
JamEngulfer221 7 months ago
@JamEngulfer221 Who said anything about pirated software. Lion used to be a developer preview and was free to developers, so I really don't se the issue with distributing free software. Yes Mac Minis are kind of cheap but the PC laptop I'm using would cost at the very least double to replace with a Macbook Pro of similar specs. But, But...it doesn't have a all aluminum unibody frame that would last forever (almost) or a battery that last anywhere near 5-7 hours. I'm on a Lion Hackintosh at...
MarleyNicholeTravis 7 months ago
@JamEngulfer221 ....at the moment which was running a legal purchased retail copy of Snow Leopard, then I purchased Lion from the app store to install in place of Snow Leopard. But I do think if you are truly broke and can't afford something, then and only then do I think it is somewhat ok for you to use pirated software (I am a broke student). Macs aren't expensive there valuable, and therefore cost more than PC equivalents, but you get a whole lot of value 4 ur money, fixing to get a new Air!
MarleyNicholeTravis 7 months ago
@MarleyNicholeTravis Ok, that's a good point. I just don't like the idea that people get the software pirated. It saddens me. Seriously!
And, it actually says that you shouldn't install OSX on anything other than a Mac. They can actually pursue you and sue you. Legally!
JamEngulfer221 7 months ago
@JamEngulfer221 You know I'm not really sure if it is illegal to install OS X on non-Apple hardware, I think its just frowned upon. Because the site were I learned to do the Hackintosh thing tonymacx86 (dot) com....will not allow talk of anything but retail DVD/App Store Purchased installations of OS X because of legal issues....not really sure though,i think it might have changed with the jailbreak court case decision (to lazy to Google this second....wow I'm lazy)

@MarleyNicholeTravis I got my information from me doing everything I said in my previous comment. And no since I didn't watch the video entirely I figured it was for Mac since there is no real reason why someone on PC would need to get an unreleased OS X.

How long should iBoot take to load mac os x?
deanschreiber12 10 months ago
@deanschreiber12 Well thats a hard question to answer. I would say after 15 minutes if the installer doesn't show restart. If u have already installed it shouldn't take but one or two minutes max I would think. I;m no expert though
MarleyNicholeTravis 10 months ago
Is there a way to do this without booting from USB?
I have an Asus p5q pro mobo which cannot (to my knowledge) boot from USB. I have used iBoot from Tonymacx86 with snow leopard in the past, but that boot loader does not work with lion dev preview. Any help would be appreciated!
travnewmatic 10 months ago
@travnewmatic I would think maybe u could create some kind of boot cd but I don't know how to do that. I'm sure you could use a spare hard drive plugged in through a usb or sata, though doing this is risky if u plan on using that same drive as a main drive in the future for whatever OS. However, if you just plan on using that drive for storage then you should be fine. PS if iBoot doesn't work with this use XPC, there is a link in the text description!!!
MarleyNicholeTravis 10 months ago

I boot and load up the lion installer from iboot and it says that lion can't be installed on my pc.
deanschreiber12 10 months ago
@deanschreiber12 Weird?? try searching for the file "PlatformSupport.plist" within the new partition you created that contains all of the Lion install files. I know this file is in the system after you install lion, but I'm unsure if it is there in the installation files. This file prevents unsupported hardware from booting Lion. If the files not there Google around to see if u can find out why u get that error, also give the installer a few more tries! Let me know if u get it working or not?
MarleyNicholeTravis 10 months ago
@MarleyNicholeTravis Yes, the file is indeed in the mac os x base system. What do I do it: delete it, edit it (in that case, what do I edit) or get a different file?
deanschreiber12 10 months ago
@deanschreiber12 Oh, my bad, yeah just delete it and see if you have any luck. Then after you install Lion you have to delete it again before you can boot into Lion. Look at my guide to show you were it is located after you install. Good Luck
MarleyNicholeTravis 10 months ago
@MarleyNicholeTravis I deleted the PlatformSupport.plist file. Didn't work. How about the SystemVersion.plist file?
Google doesn't help all that much since Lion hasn't been officially released and not many people have installed it on their macs, and even fewer have on their PCs.
deanschreiber12 10 months ago
@deanschreiber12 Let me make sure to tell u that after you delete the file that you re-install Lion. Tell me a little bit about more were it is "exactly' that you get this message??

deanschreiber12 10 months ago
@deanschreiber12 Sweeeeeet!!! Pretty damn cool isn't it. Hope you enjoy Lion. The Golden Master Developer Preview should be released in the near future, I'd say maybe 6 weeks. When that happens Lion should be damn close (if not) a Retail ready OS.

I just now tried to fire up the installer with in snow leopard by clicking the installation file on the "Mac OS X Base System" volume and the installer said "Mac OS 10.7 is not available". So does this indicate the reason why my installer won't start in the first place?
deanschreiber12 10 months ago

I use an external harddrive as my flash drive since my flash drive is dead (I know for a fact that it is bootable)
deanschreiber12 10 months ago
@deanschreiber12 If you noticed In the video I said I couldn't get iBoot installed properly within OSX. I had to use Windows to prepare and install iBoot which I recommend you do also. And you could try the other 2 Bootloaders that are capable of Booting Lion, XPC and a version of Chameleon (only install these to a external drive) which there links are in the text description of the Video. Let me know if you get it working.

You are the Man.... Awsome....This is the best tutorial in you tube to install Lion Haackintosh.
You didnt had to wear that sun glass when you are in your room though!!!

Alternatively you can set up iBoot up in Windows with 2 clicks of ur mouse!!!!

iBoot/XPC won't boot. Please tell me how you made iBoot/XPC boot off a USB drive.
Also, do I have to reformat my drive with the GUID partition scheme or can I continue using MBR?
Will the kexts from my existing snowleo installation work if I drag them into the system>library>extensions folder?
I have an Asus G72GX laptop.

MarleyNicholeTravis 10 months ago
@MarleyNicholeTravis I've tried both methods at least 5 times. But my they aren't bootable.
So you just ran the iBoot program in windows, rebooted and it worked or did you have to do something special?
deanschreiber12 10 months ago

MarleyNicholeTravis 10 months ago
@MarleyNicholeTravis thank you so much...it's realy there:d
ionutparola 10 months ago
If you've got the developer tools you can use Tools/SetFile to resume the lost invisible flag.

dude, you don't even know how to enter terminal commands, it gives you errors and you ignore them.

NVM (Never mind)! I got it to work! So you install Lion on the Lion Hackintosh HD. Then you delete the PlatformSupport.plist. Then (this is what is not in your tutorial) you need to add fakeSMC.kext to the Hackintosh HD. So it works now!
