Eliminating the equal pay for equal work think was a work in progress even during the Civil War which is obvious to anyone who watched the movie Glory, and the whole Civil Rights movement in the 50's and 60's to you know, eliminate segregation.

Just to set the record straight.Judical in this sense is not the judges. It is the State Supreme Court who interpets the laws. As a matter of factual information, then they put it to the vote again and the people won again. Does that mean our votes don't count, then why bother to vote.

If Gay people have such a need to be married then they can just play "pretend". They can make a "pretend ceremony" Exchange vows and rings and whatever. No, gay marriage was legalized in california. The constitution was interpreted that way by judges (I'll have nothing said against that, interpreting the law is and always has been a major part of a judges job). Then prop 8 ended it, which is what annoys me. No one is forcing their beliefs on others more than those who voted yes to prop 8. And don't give me that 52% majority business, the US constitution states that minority rights should be protected from the majority, and all the better for it.
If you mean by validation, being recognized and accepted by society, then of course, thats a big step towards equality. Segregation was the stance of the masses, slavery was the stance of the masses. The world just keeps on turning. You have no problem with people disagreeing with you? well then why is it so important that only your view of marriage is allowed by law. I don't know, this is a minority issue to me. Having a public referendum on a minority issue, where most of those who can vote are not really effected by the outcome seems like a bad idea. Your constitution does talk about protecting minority rights from the all-out majority rule, so I'm sure it would not be un-american for democracy to take the back seat once in a while.

There is nothing normal about homosexuality, its a violation of nature. The clear purpose of sexuality is for procreation, homosexuality is an abuse of sexuality. Marriage is the building block for the rest of society, no life comes from two man and two women. This is about not accepting incorrection and sticking to what is correct.

Marriage is meant for a man and a woman, it's in the Bible. I'm sorry if some of you have no faith, but that is what our faith and our Bible teaches us. Not everything in life is permissible, you cannot tell people how it is acceptable to live their lives because you trust your own feelings.
Similarly, you cannot dictate the lives of others by defining what is unacceptable, at least not based on your faith. The Bible also says that there is only one god, so would you support a proposition to outlaw Hinduism? Should Jews be sent to jail for denying Christ? Should women be arrested for taking positions of authority over men? Should slaves be admonished for not submitting to their masters?
What else would it be based on but my faith? This is not about the freedom for the sexual immoral, this is about you guys teaching little children that it's okay.

I can understand why gay people wouldn't want to keep it civil. It would be infuriating to watch others vote your rights away, and I can't imagine what kind of reaction I'd have. If someone tried to take away my rights, I'd be very tempted to do the same to them. I know it's not the high road, but I'm only human and so are gays.
i have no big problem with gay marriage. I do have a problem with using the issue to attack individuates. And the argument that banning same sex marriage. That is a HATE CRIME..

Eliminating the equal pay for equal work think was a work in progress even during the Civil War which is obvious to anyone who watched the movie Glory, and the whole Civil Rights movement in the 50's and 60's to you know, eliminate segregation.

Smart Supreme Court Justice. The Constitution was established to protect the minority vote; however, it still has to protect moral issues. They gays have the right to marry just like the straights. Second, the constitution separates church and state, meaning that religious beliefs are not valid arguments for making laws. "One nation under God" is just a line and has no legal meaning. So before you start talking about how ignorant the judges were, why don't you read the constitution.

Just to set the record straight.Judical in this sense is not the judges. It is the State Supreme Court who interpets the laws. No, gay marriage was legalized in california. The constitution was interpreted that way by judges (I'll have nothing said against that, interpreting the law is and always has been a major part of a judges job). Then prop 8 ended it, which is what annoys me. No one is forcing their beliefs on others more than those who voted yes to prop 8. And don't give me that 52% majority business, the US constitution states that minority rights should be protected from the majority, and all the better for it.

States rights issue. I have no problem with gay marriage myself. But it is and rightly should be a states right issue. If California doesnt want it then they should be allowed to have what the majority wants. If Californians want horses and people to be married they should have the right to vote on it. I don't know, this is a minority issue to me. Having a public referendum on a minority issue, where most of those who can vote are not really effected by the outcome seems like a bad idea. Your constitution does talk about protecting minority rights from the all-out majority rule, so I'm sure it would not be un-american for democracy to take the back seat once in a while.

I wouldnt dream of challenging the right of californians to vote on state issues. However even if I was against gay marriage I wouldnt vote to ban it. I think its sad that people who are not effected by the result of this debate imposed their beliefs on those who are. I simply disagree with your assertion about the sanctity of majority rule and the rights of minorities must be protected from the majority sometimes. The only minority right effected by this vote was the right for gays to marry.

There is nothing normal about homosexuality, its a violation of nature. The clear purpose of sexuality is for procreation, homosexuality is an abuse of sexuality. Marriage is the building block for the rest of society, no life comes from two man and two women. This is about not accepting incorrection and sticking to what is correct.

Similarly, you cannot dictate the lives of others by defining what is unacceptable, at least not based on your faith. The Bible also says that there is only one god, so would you support a proposition to outlaw Hinduism? Should Jews be sent to jail for denying Christ? Should women be arrested for taking positions of authority over men? Should slaves be admonished for not submitting to their masters?

Allowing gay marriage doesn't mean you or anyone else has to teach their kids that being gay is right or wrong, just that it's legal. Lots of things considered immoral are still legal. If your smoking was a sin, should the government make it illegal? Should lying for personal gain be illegal? Should any religion other than yours be illegal?

okay here is my thing: I am okay with same sex marriage. but I am also for the idea that we VOTE on issues and then respect that vote and then use the legal process to decide if a law agrees with the US Constitution or not. but to attack people for voicing their opinion on a matter (and people were over P 8) is rather sickening. you have the right to protest but keep it civil. and the only way gay marriage will be nation wide is if it goes to the SCOTUS, So P8s passing is its best hope.
