  • I bought this CD when it first came out. Still listen to it fairly often.

  • Love this song! They were one of my 1st concerts, when I was a teenager. They gave out this video on VHS! Still have it somewhere...

  • fuck red bull

  • A very underrated band and song. I still remember when this song came out, and then hearing about what had happened (can't remember what in order though). Weird to think both this song/accident happened 16 years ago.

  • I was 15 when I first heard this song in 95... what the hell are 15 year old's listening to now.

  • @RapsNBassTron i was nineteen then. that was when playing an instrument was cool but the day of the instrument may be over

  • @bertrice999 nope im buying a bass amp in a few days lol

  • Jack greigo is family, i remember growing up listening to them as a kid. it is a real tragidy what happened :(

  • One of the best alternative rock tune of the 90's. Damn, I wish I could go 15 years back.

  • is it great or grave unknown?

  • They were Great however your obviously a Great Unknown

  • No better time to be a teen than the '90's. Saw the reformed version of For Squirrels sometime in the mid 90's at The reggency Showcase in Springfield MO.

  • kurt cobain

  • gosh what a sad song. I bought this when it first hit the shelf, and still have it.

  • Just a quick update for For Squirrels fans, if anyone is wondering about Travis Tooke - he just recorded two new amazing songs in Asbury Park, NJ w/producer Jeff Plate. We hope some of you are interested in hearing them when they are released.

  • Broke out "Example" today for the first time in years. (Spooky thing, there was a long dead spider having been squished when I last took it out still dried to the jewel case) In a moment, "8:02 PM" was roaring through my surround sound, and those guys lived again.

  • R.i.P for squirrels ur death was tragic

  • I was -1.

    Damn I feel young.

  • Such a shame what happened to these guys. Two of the band members killed in a wreck only a month before the release of their debut album. I used to watch this video all of the time on MTV's "120 Minutes" every Sunday night in late '95.

  • @MyJunior1975 I did too, damn I miss the 90s

  • @njh2280 I remember when I watched this video for the first time back in 1995. I was looking at the video and was thinking that they used the old clips to show them paying over the years. I was unaware that two members had been killed at the time and the other two were still in the hospital recovering from their injuries. Sometimes I wonder at how far this band could have gone had the accident not happened.

  • @MyJunior1975 miles

  • i swear every time I listen to this song I'm move to tears

  • Yes, it is about Kurt Curbain and NOT by him. "Example" is a freakishly good album by For Squirrels who would have done much more if not for the horrible motor accident that killed most of the band.

  • @germville I think most of the band got killed (may have been all) in a bus wreck

  • @RickOFtheJames Not all. Jack Vigiliatura and Bill White died in 1995. However, a reformed "for squirrels" got together to play a few shows after the accident. I remember going to one of those shows. You could tell the band was frustrated and exhausted. Jack Greigo (drummer) had some kind of sling setup supporting his arms, i suppose he was still recovering at the time. Travis Tooke lost it on stage, and was visibly in tears. I suppose the shows were a release for them at a very hard time.

  • This song Legit gives me goose bumps everytime i hear it. Epic. Def an all-time favorite song. I still have the t shirt that came with the album, that was 16 years ago.....

  • KURT WROTE THIS SONG

  • @couchwanker Im pretty sure this song was released a couple of years after Kurt died. And I think it was written in tribute to Kurt, but not written by him.

  • For Example is a great album, I love it. An all time favorite.

  • rest in peace boys

  • The deaths of these musicians are so much more tragic than Kurt's. What a damn shame.

  • This whole album is so FUCKING GOOD. I bought it right after I heard this song when it debuted on MTV. Such a tragedy what happend to this band. they could have been GREAT.

  • one of the best bands ever :(

  • I remember recording this off of 120 Minutes when I was 11...

  • Yeah, MAJOR flashback... I saw them after the accident when they still called themselves For Squirrels @ Irving Plaza in NYC, and then again when they toured in support of Subrosa/Never Bet the Devil Your Head, another incredible album. For those who don't know, after the accident, they recruited their old bassist & Travis went from guitar to guitar & lead vocals. I'm still dying to hear Baypath Road, I'm told it's excellent....

  • this is my favorite band of all time . although disenchanted is one of their best songs and under smithville!!!!!! Wish they could of been around for a bit longer

  • i still think theyre one of the best bands

    they couldve been huge

  • Mighty KC....

    Mighty Kurt Cobain...... RIP ='[

  • This is a good song! But remember "Stars"?

  • @free2astroboy Yes, by "Hum" right?

  • i am 43 my son is 20 and this is our favorite mutual song i gave him my vhs tape of the video a long time ago and when i go to his house we watch it

  • the greatest band that never was but should of been....only a few of us know about their greatness

  • Two of these guys died in a car crash shortly after this song came out. Jack Vigliatura IV and Bill White, along with tour manager Tim Bender. Rip.

  • @elvisfan22 -- Yeah. It's wicked sad. They were so promising...

  • used to play this song relentlessly--thanks for the vid

  • who...is that guy????!!!!!!

  • @kennypenguin Ha! yes, one of these songs is on my Ipod, heres a hint, its the one that doesnt suck.

  • still one of the most haunting videos ive ever seen

  • great song

  • I really do enjoy this song but to name it after that waiste from Nirvana is beyond me ugh!

  • @ADJohn2001 dude kurt was not a waiste

  • @ADJohn2001 this song was a tribute to kurt what you said made no sense

  • dont know what to say. the world really missed out on some great music. RIP guys

  • "Example" is one of my favorite rock albums ever. They should have been way more recognized as a great band.

  • @catkisser AGREED!! I <3 "Under Smithville"!! and every other song on that disc!

  • @catkisser He died right after this became main stream

  • wow....memories

    i feel old now..

    so glad this is here.

  • I miss this band so much.

  • I was anxiously awaiting their club appearances in RI; had just discovered their music & awesomeness. What lost potential! What loss of enormous talent! Someone should write a song in tribute to them (but not me! That would end up being an insult if I attempted a song). And, to all of you who feel old, because you were in 5th grade!!!! Please, get over it. I didn't feel ancient, but after reading that & knowing that I was in college at that time... I guess I should be in the old folks home now!

  • ths is one of the best bands ever. shame what had happened. i still love them :) i still get the chills when i listen to them.

  • @diamondseagirl me, too. i will always love this band

  • @diamondseagirl half the band died in a tour bus accident right when they were getting bigger with this song and others another sad story

  • ths is one of the best bands ever. shame what had happened. i still love them :)

  • I want this song played at my funeral...or wedding

  • @AJBUCSFAN Indeed. And RIP For Squirrels :(

  • Someone should post all of the For Squirrels songs on YouTube. I would if I had the CD"s still. Some of the best music ever.

  • GOD i feel ancient. I was in 5th grade when this song came out. Good gravy....it seems like eons ago and yet it also feels like just seconds ago too.

  • @starXelfXyeshua I was in fifth grade too...Man, where does time go? Id give anything to go back to those days. no worries, no bills, no nothing....

  • this song always made me cry

  • @thebjm1967 me too

  • what a great band, do yourselves a favor and check out the whole cd

  • Greatest Kurt Cobain tribute song ever! These guys had talent. Shame what happened.

  • hmm, they all died? i heard this song once way back.....loved it so i bought the album, never heard of em since, i guess thats why? sad.........

  • I saw these guys perform in Upstate New York 10 days before the accident in 1995 and they were great. Was anyone else at that show at Saratoga Winners in Cohoes? I love this song and the album. I used to play this song on my college radio show. Great memories!

  • @EJDeGrechie

I wish I could have been there.

These guys were coming home to a great welcome.

It still makes me sad what happened. Example is one of the best albums ever.

  • My God in Heaven...haven't heard this song since 5th grade...i thought i had imagined this song...wow...

  • This brings back memorys!

  • "by the grace of God go I into the great unknown until they change in our favor"

  • @RIPmyers If your interested,8:02 p.m. can be found at playlist.com.A song listed as Track 03,which is called Under Smithville(my favorite from Example) is also worth a listen. Still in Macon? Not far from ya'. In Columbus.

  • @veritasrex66 I'm further south than that. South Florida on the treasure coast. when I DID live in Georgia, it was in Austell. a town outside of Atlanta

  • @MrProfessornutbutter Hell yeah dude! I grew up in Woodstock! Graduated from Etowah.

  • @veritasrex66 cool. I only lived there for a year. 4th, 5th grade I think

  • @veritasrex66 I live about 35 minutes north of Macon.

  • I was 24 yrs old when they had that tragic car accident around Macon, Georgia where I live and heard about it on the news then.

  • @RIPmyers it's a shame. I live in Florida, they were a local band here, before they got serious recognition

  • @MrProfessornutbutter Does the survivor guiatrist of the band still play music?

  • @RIPmyers Travis Tooke's most recent group is the trio Lettuce Olive. He has also released a solo CD.

  • @MrProfessornutbutter It's still chilling to here the lead singer's voice when I listein to it. I miss my younger days but this song reminds me of good times....."Ship me off to the morgue, I'm ready to be buried away down in my bed and I'm alone without the sun"

  • @RIPmyers exactly this. hey, it's worth mentioning that "8:02 PM", their only follow up single from their only album with the original line-up is worth listening to, if you can find it.

  • @MrProfessornutbutter It can be found at playlist.com.

  • :( haunting song and video :(

  • Ah, the nostalgia is rushing over me like a wave...I listened to the For Squirrels in college. It's all about my college days for this song...that's what this songs means to me at least. How lovely the feeling...

  • I Hope they all found peace.. those that lived and died! They were and always will be missed in Gainesville!

  • Thank you so much for posting!!! "Example" is one of my favorite albums ever and I wish For Squirrels had the chance to share their talent with a wider audience. No matter, I still love this album and the band.

  • its almost ghostly...reminds me of being a kid. almost makes me wanna cry.

  • This guys died too young and too soon.

More people need to know about this band.

  • awesome memories of this song. spectacular video.

  • how sad. This was such a great band. what a tragic ending.

  • One of the best songs from the 90s.
