@scouthatesrainbows LOL according to IGN if the Xbox 720 is using the Radeon HD6670, and it's actually weaker (graphically) than the Wii U. In terms of bench marks the HD4850(low conservative gpu estimate) outperforms the HD6670. It feels dissapointing in all that hype about the next xbox.

I think that you're forgetting one important factor: Sony does NOT want Microsoft to beat them again when it's comes to console release date. That's why MS beat them this gen, and of course from other factors; i.e PS3 being $600 at launch, etc. I really do believe that Sony will release the PS4 before MS to get a good lead on them.

I don't think microsoft will focus just on casual games and kinect. I mean the bestsellers on xbox 360 are still Halo and Gears of War (with massive sales).
Sony gonna stick with the Cell, it's already good enough, I don't think it will be any easier to develop for, it will be the same, but now 3rd parties have experience with it and shouldn't be a bottleneck when PS4 launches unlike PS3 which has problems with early multiplats because of it.

As far as the PSVita goes, that things a beast for a handheld, that thing is easily more powerful than two tablets combined. Plus with a lot line up of releases. The only complain for the Vita is the overpriced memory cards.

Microsft is still promoting Kinect and if they start promoting the 720 then those sales for the kinect will fall; same goes for the move. But for Sony they just announced the Vita. I agree with many of your points, however I believe Sony will attempt to make PSN on par with XBL but by no means superior, that way the free option would be much more appealing.
I agree that Sony should revive some old IP's, they should also bring back Syphon Filter as it was a game that held it's own with Metal Gear Solid back in the day and more importantly it was an exclusive.
I also agree MS are only in it for the momey. They're all about the quick buck opposed to return customers.
@ The7thlevl this time the are supporting third parties with a true resolve of cooperation. I won't get one at launch due to the lines I expect for the Wii U storm of a launch. Thus as our parents, grand parents, great grand parents and neighbors push and tag the stores doors for a console I shall be saving for all the great games Wii U shall have.
As far as bringing back franchises from previous gens, be careful what you wish for. I don't think anyone wants Beyond the Beyond 2. I would have loved to have gotten Dark Cloud 3 on the PS3, but of course Level 5 moved over to White Knight Chronicles, which is a great game if you were a fan of Final Fantasy XII, but otherwise... And I know this wasn't sony published but I would have enjoyed a Rogue Galaxy 2 in there somewhere as well.
As for the controller, my main gripe with the dualshock is that it doesn't stand up to hail mary's into the wall like the 360 does. You shrow a DS3 at the wall, it'll shatter into a million tiny pieces. You throw a 360 controller into the wall, it bounces off and gives you the finger.
Lol! Really though? My dualshock seems to be pretty durable. Ever since I moved into a dorm, and since my bed is high up, I've dropped my controllesr millions of times now and they still work just fine and nothing has popped out of shape.
@Shokio its not so much the design over all, its the type of plastic Sony uses. Much more brittle than the "hard rubber" of the 360 controllers. And man when you look on the inside, they're really cheaply designed. Like the triggers work off this tiny one loop spring that's only held in there by its own resistance. Its kinda crazy really, considering how much wear and tear a controller goes through.

sony needs to go back to low-power consoles, the premium route just never works, especially in this day of age. As far as the PSVita goes, that things a beast for a handheld, that thing is easily more powerful than two tablets combined. Plus with a lot line up of releases. The only complain for the Vita is the overpriced memory cards.

@Shokio or an even better idea, they could just ditch that shity kinect/move. it defeats the purpose of those consoles. PS3s and XBOXs are made for high quality, high graphics, high power games. You simply cant achieve that hard core feeling with a crappy kinect. i used to be a keen call of duty player on wii, now i play reach on xbox, and i must say that hard core games are a lot better with out this motion take on it. Its just unecesssary.

wasnt the 360 announced in the summer of 2005 and then released in fall 2005 the likely hood of microsoft announcing and releasing the 720 this year is higher than you think or to an extent it shouldn't be a surprising move.

I honestly think it's a real bad idea to release the PS4 or the 720. Microsft is still promoting Kinect and if they start promoting the 720 then those sales for the kinect will fall; same goes for the move. But for Sony they just announced the Vita. So if they promote the PS4 then everyone is going to lose interest in the Vita. I don't see them announcing either systems for another 2-3 years.

So how do you explain last year when the 3DS was released in Febuary in Japan and the Wii U was annouced only a few months later in June at E3? Surely your prediction would be more suited to Nintendo than Sony.

I agree with many of your points, however I believe Sony will attempt to make PSN on par with XBL but by no means superior, that way the free option would be much more appealing.
I agree that Sony should revive some old IP's, they should also bring back Syphon Filter as it was a game that held it's own with Metal Gear Solid back in the day and more importantly it was an exclusive.
I also agree MS are only in it for the momey. They're all about the quick buck opposed to return customers.

As far as bringing back franchises from previous gens, be careful what you wish for. I don't think anyone wants Beyond the Beyond 2. I would have loved to have gotten Dark Cloud 3 on the PS3, but of course Level 5 moved over to White Knight Chronicles, which is a great game if you were a fan of Final Fantasy XII, but otherwise... And I know this wasn't sony published but I would have enjoyed a Rogue Galaxy 2 in there somewhere as well.

As for the controller, my main gripe with the dualshock is that it doesn't stand up to hail mary's into the wall like the 360 does. You shrow a DS3 at the wall, it'll shatter into a million tiny pieces. You throw a 360 controller into the wall, it bounces off and gives you the finger.

Lol! Really though? My dualshock seems to be pretty durable. Ever since I moved into a dorm, and since my bed is high up, I've dropped my controllesr millions of times now and they still work just fine and nothing has popped out of shape.

@Shokio its not so much the design over all, its the type of plastic Sony uses. Much more brittle than the "hard rubber" of the 360 controllers. And man when you look on the inside, they're really cheaply designed. Like the triggers work off this tiny one loop spring that's only held in there by its own resistance. Its kinda crazy really, considering how much wear and tear a controller goes through.

sony needs to go back to low-power consoles, the premium route just never works, especially in this day of age. They should just match up with Wii U and then add an innovative selling point to it, that's probably the most effective route I can think of. And no, a screen with a controller is not the move sony should make cause they gonna get into a move problem once again and it's gonna make them look like a joke.
