@5lickninja , Mack doesn't do anything ? Are you nuts, he gives the coaches the freedom to make decisions and then they leave the program and make the big bucks elsewhere ala Gene Chizik at Auburn . Mack is a recruiting FIEND and has built a winner at Texas. The losses are ridiculous for the talent level that they have, no question. Everyone thinks Mack does nothing because he comes across as a Southern Gentleman / Nice Guy. Let's not kid ourselves over his imprtance to the team.

@5lickninja , here is the bottom line, it's still Football. The team should have never stopped running the spread offense. Look at TCU and Boise, no where near the talent of Texas, but a great system that chews up clock and is unpredictable. Texas abandoned a winning formula to try and appeal to a recruit in 2011 that we will run te ball...that recruit may transfer now !

I think all you Longhorn haters forget the fact that UT is the winningest program in the past 10 years. You also forget that teams are supposed to have down years ever so often. Well the Longhorns don't really have down years lately... so don't blast them when they have 1 year down in 10 years! BTW... I would have liked to have heard the whole press conference. I think mack brown is a very quality human being. I also think nebraska receivers dropped two touchdown passes or they would've lost up there, too. texas just isn't very good this year. Maybe they just have a young team. their quarterback seems to struggle but I heard they changed the offense in the off-season. that may have been a real bad idea.

He's always been a shitty coach. A good recruiter and face of the program, but since the beginning, he's leaned heavily on his coaches to do the actual coaching. They let up and he's pissed. He's not an X's and O's guy. The fact that texas is a media darling and they have a strong marketing profile brings more raw 5 star talent to texas than anything. Developing NFL caliber players is not their forte. Look at radio young and smokey williams.

I dont think its immature I thinks he's finally showing some aggression and holding himself, his coaches and players accountable for getting ready for a game weather its against the Oklahoma's and Nebraska's of the world or Iowa St. Just cause the team has owned Iowa St. in the past doesn't mean you can show up and not be prepared and expect to win. I'm glad this happened so the coaches and team can get their shit together and start putting players in that can get the job done consistently.

Mack is the most overated coach in D!. His defensive coordinators have saved his hide for years & Vince Young singlehandedly won him a title before that. If Mack's go great, why hasn't he found a running game in 5 years?

Sure, all that talent is why he was Coach February until VY showed up. And why he's won no National Championships after VY left. If you knew anything about Texas football, you'd know that school recruits itself. Mack can't do the best with what he has because he is a 2nd rate coach. Why did Muschamp and the body of his staff bail on him if he's so great? Because they saw the writing on the wall - Mack is an overrated egomanic.
