  • coked the f up at 00:03 - 00:06 lol

god i wish i was in my teens and early 20's during this period

  • 11:39.. Soloing with a capo sucks doesn't it? Hahaha

  • this was the first concert I was ever at. I was 14 and my parents took me. , I remember it still. I am 45 now and I have been going to shows ever sence. thanks mom and dad.

  • I remember seeing this on HBO and I love the Beach Boys, but...this is such a screwed up time for them...Brian was rough, Dennis was 2 years away from death..Carl was trying to keep the band together...the band seemed to be going through the motions amid the chaos...I mean look at poor Dennis standing on the piano! I understand they would often have to mute out the microphones as Brian and Dennis would sing some strange things. Good concert but sad circumstances...

  • @GREGMCKEE Saddest is the existence on johnston on the stage playing his toy piano

  • @BeachBoysGuy1 Care to elaborate; Bruce sad existance?

  • good thing dennis kept sober for the performance

  • I am actually on that video and I am trying to get a copy of it

  • What was the name & Date of the HBO special that this was on ?

  • i believe Jimmy Page played a song during this concert

  • Both Brian and Dennis are there, Dennis didn't play drums on all the songs, he's on Good Timin' here and on piano for Help Me Rhonda.

  • Its wrong I was there. Brian was there. Dennis was there. Who is that dude on drums ain't Dennis! Just sayin...

  • @gladimmeandnotyou

That person on the drums was the great Bobby Figueroa! What a talented guy! Still playing drums for his own band.

  • @gladimmeandnotyou That's Bobby Figueroa, who played with them for years. Bobby came in because Dennis injured his hand years before and liked to come up front during the shows at times. Bobby still plays with Al Jardine

  • That's what it said on the credits, I taped it off HBO in 1981.

  • This is not the 1980 show. Bullshit

  • Wow! How about that performance by Carl on Good Timin'? Fantastic!

  • this is a great "live" band...blow todays geeks and ignorant rappers off the map

  • Great Historical Performance...Those were The Best 4th Of Julys in DC...Beach Boys are America's Band.

  • The Beach Boys, America and the 4th of July -- how could it get any better???

  • This is great. I grew up going to the Beach Boys 4th of July shows on the National Mall, brings back good memories.

  • I probably do have that clip, I taped everything they were on when Brian was back on board.

  • @massF1 cool. could you upload it if ya come across it? Thanks.

  • Hi, Thanks for these Awesome Clips. Do you have a beach boys performance from 1981 on a cheerleaders competition in which they performed Be True to your school? it was outdoors on a beach in florida i believe. Would love to see it if ya do. Thanks, sharon & eric

  • @ericp22 I can't say for sure, but I think I do have that somewhere among my hundreds of old VHS tapes I used to throw in whenever something I'd only see once was on.

  • cool stuff - what other Beach Boys concerts do you have?...
