Arizona has had a comparatively large number of semi-finalists and placings, but has never won the Miss USA crown in its own right. However, in 1980, Jineane Ford was awarded the title after Shawn Weatherly (who won the original pageant) won the Miss Universe pageant.

Shawn was Miss Sumter 1977 and was First Runner Up at the Miss South Carolina (America) pageant in July 1978. She graduated from Sumter High School in 1977 with my sister. Shawn's step brother re-enlisted me in the USAF in 2006. Shawn cut the ribbon for Sumter's Jessamine Mall grand opening in August 1980 as Miss Universe.
