Hey guys, I'm a newer member the Toronto scene, and yes this vid should give an idea of how good these guys were when this game was in its prime. At Season's Beatings 3 I believe we took 9 of the top 12 spots in 3S. Unfortunately with SF4 a lot of these players have quit or play 3S very casually.

good? they SUCK LOL...red parrying doesn't mean you can play very well...I did full parries and red parries on a laptop keyboard....nothing incredible amigo. Emulators on the laptop are nothing in comparison to parrying with an Arcade Stick or even a Pad but still practice makes perfect. My point is it's easier to tap a key to parry than it is to shift the stick forward to parry.
LOL right...I had an arcade stick before and it was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo easy to red parry and parry on it, trying playing a racing game that you're supposed to play with a racing wheel using a keyboard. People are big talkers and little doers :)

just block the 1st hit, then parry the 2nd hit. when you parry the 2nd hit, you'll be red.
just say, you'll die if you take 2 more chips of block dmg, if you block both hits of an ex fireball, you'll die, red parries let you take less block dmg by blocking the 1st hit and parrying the 2nd hit. but you can block as many hits as you want before red parrying.
You can't make the dummy combo people afterwards, lol. They purposely punish with combos, air parry and red parry a lot of stuff to show that it is a person doing it.

Parrying was a new thing they added in Street Fighter III, it is basically a defensive move. If you hit Forwards or Down at the exact moment an attack would hit you, you parry it, and lose no hp and gain a little of the special bar.
tha point of using it mostly tho, is cuz tha recovery time aftr u parry is A LOT shorter than if u wud block, so u could counter very quickly. which is how a lotta ppl get punished in this game by ppl who kno how to parry very well

this may sound stupid but, can anyone pls give me an answer for this. on all the matches that i had, i've been successful in giving a BAIT of a LP shoryuken then cancelling it for a SHIN-SHORYUKEN [for jumping opponents] how come that they can parry the first attack [LP shoryu] but they were unable to parry the SHIN?
The video quality or youtube itself reducing it, my guess it that some frames are skipped when reducing quality, and while it still looks smooth, sometimes these frames are the "flashing" red ones, which flash fast enough I guess to be skipped sometimes...
It's basically parrying something while you're guarding, and it heals you a tiny bit. Not too useful but kinda hard to pull off (especially many times in a row).
also if you watch the way he combos after parrying everything you have to think to yourself "if this guy is skilled enough to do those crazy combos with akuma, maybe he had enough time on his hands to practice parrying everybodys supers."
im not saying this video is real or anything but im pretty sure auto parry isn't on. for the people that say you can red parry, technically with auto parry on, you could block then let the joystick go and it would red parry. i just dont think this video is fake because he gets tech bonuses for parrying and you dont get tech bonuses if auto parry is on.
theres no real proof for the normal parries, but if i remember correctly (it also says it in the video) there is also no auto-setting for red parries, so i take it that is legit. if they can do red parries with that level of skill, then why not normal ones? thus, it looks real to me although its all done in practice
Sorry for the triple post. Character limit. Anyway, regarding Gill's super. You cannot parry the Angel of Death. Period. Regarding Akuma's MAX Super, the first hit cannot be parried but the rest can be parried. Red parrying in this vid is cool, certainly cuz I always wanted to see that, but I ignored that part of the video because there are only a few instances in which its practical against other players and it only saves you from getting killed by chip damage.
Against other players I can parry their supers on wake-up or if I jump in and they try to use a low forward into super. Don't forget, parrying isn't everything in this game. Its important but take my advice as someone whose style involved forcing people to attack, get parried and then punished fiercely. If you parry, people will throw you more, people will use kara-throws, people will diversify their game to bait you and fake you out, or they will turtle you and stall you out.
This is an old video, but still one of the best. This vid inspired me to try to parry all the super arts back then. Oh btw the names of the music is at the end.

go to Directions, set PARRY on EASY and you can do this without much control. parry will auto hit.

this video was made back in 2002 if I remember right, and I have seen these guys play, and they're awful players.
I managed to red parry on a laptop keyboard, so it's nothing special really, it's just a matter of practice.

If you block the first attack of a chain attack, and parry the second, the second parry will be a "guard parry" and make the character flash red.

Parrying was a new thing they added in Street Fighter III, it is basically a defensive move. If you hit Forwards or Down at the exact moment an attack would hit you, you parry it, and lose no hp and gain a little of the special bar.

tha point of using it mostly tho, is cuz tha recovery time aftr u parry is A LOT shorter than if u wud block, so u could counter very quickly. which is how a lotta ppl get punished in this game by ppl who kno how to parry very well

i like street fighter but i hate parry when i first began palying 3 i i was fighting my friend which is rly good and he parryied everyone of my attacks thats y i am going to like 4 because the removed the parrying system makes it more aggresive insted of a perso turtleing

this may sound stupid but, can anyone pls give me an answer for this. on all the matches that i had, i've been successful in giving a BAIT of a LP shoryuken then cancelling it for a SHIN-SHORYUKEN [for jumping opponents] how come that they can parry the first attack [LP shoryu] but they were unable to parry the SHIN?

The video quality or youtube itself reducing it, my guess it that some frames are skipped when reducing quality, and while it still looks smooth, sometimes these frames are the "flashing" red ones, which flash fast enough I guess to be skipped sometimes...

It's basically parrying something while you're guarding, and it heals you a tiny bit. Not too useful but kinda hard to pull off (especially many times in a row).

also if you watch the way he combos after parrying everything you have to think to yourself "if this guy is skilled enough to do those crazy combos with akuma, maybe he had enough time on his hands to practice parrying everybodys supers."

im not saying this video is real or anything but im pretty sure auto parry isn't on. for the people that say you can red parry, technically with auto parry on, you could block then let the joystick go and it would red parry. i just dont think this video is fake because he gets tech bonuses for parrying and you dont get tech bonuses if auto parry is on.

theres no real proof for the normal parries, but if i remember correctly (it also says it in the video) there is also no auto-setting for red parries, so i take it that is legit. if they can do red parries with that level of skill, then why not normal ones? thus, it looks real to me although its all done in practice

Sorry for the triple post. Character limit. Anyway, regarding Gill's super. You cannot parry the Angel of Death. Period. Regarding Akuma's MAX Super, the first hit cannot be parried but the rest can be parried. Red parrying in this vid is cool, certainly cuz I always wanted to see that, but I ignored that part of the video because there are only a few instances in which its practical against other players and it only saves you from getting killed by chip damage.

Against other players I can parry their supers on wake-up or if I jump in and they try to use a low forward into super. Don't forget, parrying isn't everything in this game. Its important but take my advice as someone whose style involved forcing people to attack, get parried and then punished fiercely. If you parry, people will throw you more, people will use kara-throws, people will diversify their game to bait you and fake you out, or they will turtle you and stall you out.
