Whoever made this song is going to have to answer to Mozart in heaven. If they make it there. And I would not call this mildly interesting. This I would call appaling. I'm not even sure why I stayed on this page long enough to post a comment.
Respect the preferences of others, it's stupid to create an absolute stardart of "good" and "bad" based on your likings, this is ignorance and egocentrism. It's ok if you don't like it, but you shouldn't degrade someone's work like that. Show a little of respect, otherwise it turns out to be degrading to you.
@sucrilhus I disagree. This is a degrading of Mozart's work. Music is one form of art in which there are objective criteria. I respect that some can like this heavy metal version. I'm not sure why they do though. I used to listen to rock too, then I started paying attention. I still listen to it once in a while but tire of it after a couple of songs. Blues is far more interesting. Fusion showcases virtusosity. Funk is more fun. I find rock very limited. Pygmy polyphonies are far more advanced.
Except that rock is played using one's hands and fingers, not some electronic beat maker, plus it just sounds good. Which automatically makes Rock the winner by default XD
@Archeon233 I have no idea what your point is. Here are some other types of music played with hands and fingers: fusion, salsa, son, jazz, afro-cuban jazz, blues, renaissance, baroque, classical, modern, contemporary, serial, dodecaphonic, etc, etc. As for electronic beat maker, I don't know what you're talking about. My favorite beat makers are called Art Blakey and Elvin Jones. They're not electronic. Seems many people commenting here have a reading comprehension problem. Whatever
@BINGFRYSRDUN Mozart made this song, thus he will have to answer to himself? You're assuming Mozart made it to Heaven? He was a musical genius, without a doubt, but he wenched and drank himself to an early grave. Who knows... if he were alive today, he might have written Metal instead of classical! LOL
@HerlockSholmes123 You misunderstood my posts, read again. I stated that the Dies Irae of Mozart's Requiem is absolute musical perfection. It is this heavy metal version that I called mildly interesting at best (that was a stretch, I admit). The original Mozart's Requiem Dies Irae has no equivalent, it is the most powerful piece of music ever composed, in a class of its own. Superior to the louder and heavier Verdi Requiem, it is unique.
The Dies Irae is absolute musical perfection as it is. It requires no electricity, effect pedals and all. This thing does diminish it in any way, as nothing can do that, but it certainly does not add to it. It simply indicates that heavy metal has to resort to the real music that has existed for centuries to put some actual power in their stuff. It also indicates that, when seeking the true essence of music, one can find it, and will likely meet another who was there before.
@markaz08 No. As I said the Dies Irae is perfect as it is. For those familiar with the Requiem, this is mildly interesting at best; "unbelievable" perhaps if considered from a point of view supported by superficial perception, understanding and knowledge of music. There is unbelievable music out there: try Bach's Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor. Even better, listen to it as the score of Abel Gance's "Napoleon."
Actually if Mozart was alive today he would have been a Heavy Metal rocker. In his time people complained that his music had too many notes. This actually is not bad.
@ilovesoda Um in Mozart's time people complained cause his music had too many notes, so are you saying Mozart is generic? I think Mozart was way ahead of his time.
