Okay... Switchfoot, Relient K, Paramore (sometimes), 30 Seconds to Mars, Fall Out Boy (sometimes), Hillsong, All Time Low (sometimes), Davedays :P, and of course The Beatles. Woohoo.
I really like HeyHiHello, though I prefer their older albums. I also like Owl City, and artists like Sara Bareilles, Stacy Clark, and Cara Salimando. The song I'll Make A Man Out of You fits right in. :D
Music enthusiast here, I'll listen to any and everything. Yes even rap and country. Favorite genre is probably Acid Electronica though. Add some turntables and it makes for a deadly combination of awesome haha
If you're into indie rock you should probably check out bands like Ima Robot, DeWolff, and Ra Ra Riot to name a couple
MGMT is my favorite band ever!!! also Foster the People, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Arcade Fire, Pete Yorn, Arctic Monkeys, Serge Gainsbourg, Jane Birkin, Briggite Bardot, ANYTHING DISNEY, Passion Pit, Matt&Kim, Feist SOOOO MANY OTHERS.
woah we've got l the same tastes...kinda. i know most of the bands you mentioned- most of them are my faves- but some i've just never heard about.
.:never shout never, the ready set, all time low, sam adams, cute is what we aim for (i never get sick of hollywood, curse of curves, and risque), death cab for cutie (crooked teeth & i will follow you into the dark), postal service (nothing better on repeat), & a bunch more i can't mention due to comment length (i figure you don't want more than 1).
P.S. Currently in my playlist: The Naked And Famous - Young Blood, Chase & Status - Blind Faith, Cluesoe - Keinen Zentimeter, Arno Cost & Arias - Magenta and Hybrid - Empire. (Yes, pretty wildly accross genres, I know. Please don't judge me.)
Pink Floyd, Foo Fighters, some electronic music like Hybrid Soundsystem, Chicane ... (Armin van Buuren's Youtopia, featuring Adam Young/Owl City is pretty great)
My taste keeps changing all the time, I'll listen to anything with discernable rhythm and melody and unlike many people, like hearing variations of songs (covers, remixes, mashups...).
The best band ever, in my opinion of course, would have to be 30 Seconds to Mars. I have been trying to broaden my music taste, and as of late have been slowly getting hooked onto j and k-pop music. It's honestly kinda sad
hail to AWA matt!! :) my favourites though are The Last Shadow Puppets... the best music ever! but, what's your biggest quilty pleasure in music ? :)
Blink-182, Angels and Airwaves, +44, Boxcar racer, Green Day, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, 30 seconds to mars, My chemical romance, Sugarcult, Yellowcard....just to name a few, there are tons more! =D
Lots of screamo and metal. lol. I'm obsessed with Black Veil Brides and I Love Asking Alexandria and Sumo Cyco. I also like some pop, though I'm more picky with that. I only really listen to Skye Sweetnam, Kerli and Katy Perry there.
Quite an eclectic mix on my iPod.....alternative, pop, hip-hop, rock, indie, and electronic in equal parts more or less...
All Time Low, B.o.B., The Maine, 3OH!3, Iron & Wine, Linkin Park, Eminem, Maroon 5, MGMT, Nevershoutnever!, Plain White T's, Blink 182, The Script, Vampire Weekend, The All-American Rejects, Augustana, Hedley, The Summer Set, Adele, Down With Webster, The Beatles, Marianas Trench, Far East Movement, The Beach Boys, Bowling For Soup, Snow Patrol...just to name a few. :]
Ummmm.. i'm gonna have to go with Rebecca Black. I mean her song is just so inspirational. It makes me feel like anything is possible, like even though there is a friend in the front seat, she could sit there too someday.
OR it could make me want to jump off my roof. T____T
The level of mixture on my iPod is quite magnificent.
From piano instrumentals to some screamo.
From country to some rap.
My iPod seems like it has multiple personality disorder.
AND I LOVE OWL CITY ALSO. The concert last May was the best thing ever!!! It was amazing, and I bought tickets for one of their shows this summer (the day they went on sale). Haha.
Never heard of most of your favourites Matt, except for the Beatles. I only like a couple of their songs. My music is from my generation: Mainstream rock from 60's, 70's and 80's. Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, The Band, CCR, The Who, Led Zeppelin,
Thin Lizzy, U2, Rory Gallagher, Bob Seger, John Mellencamp and dozens of others.
We listen to the same exact kind of music, it's kind of creepy... I just started listening to death cab recently, and i'm now in love. Also, I love the title of the video. Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist is my all time favorite book.
I think I listen to more music in different languages than I do to English music. My playlist looks a little something like this: English English French Korean Japanese Eglish French English French French French German French Korean English Russian Japanese Korean....you get the picture XD
please please please please please please please please please please please PLEASE tell me your a nirvana fan.? and blink-182 is the greatest band ever. just saying.
My favourite band lately is Andrew Jackson Jihad. Then last week a friend of mine got me interested in Panda Bear, and his new record, Tomboy, is quite interesting.
our playlists are very similar. im really into vampire weekend, cage the elephant, the black keys, jukebox the ghost and two door cinema club right now.
kinda a long list (not realy) owl city, nevershoutnever, hollywood undead, my genuine find, taylor swift, the maine, eatmewhileimhot, my newyork summer, stephen jerzak, cady groves, chase coy theres more i just cant think of them right now. :3
Oh, I absolutely love sharing new music with people - me and my friends are always discussing such things, so here are my 'most played' on my ipod that mostly fit into you 'modern indie rock' section...
And! I DO NOT listen to New Kids on the Block, despite my username. When I was creating my username for youtube, I had no idea there even was that band haha.
Of Montreal, Death Cab for Cutie, JOAN JETT <3, Simple Plan, Blink 182, Modest Mouse, Diamond Messages, Aqualung, The Downtown Fiction, Phoenix, The Beatles (Across the Universe version [I know, lame]), Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Hush Sound, Frou Frou, Band of Horses, All American Rejects, MGMT, Animal Collective, Britney Spears (Her songs are just fun haha), daft punk, Dragonette, Faunts, Guster, The Strokes<3, Landon Pigg, Lights, Metric, NeverShoutNever, Matt & Kim, Modestep, Passion Pit, and more!
Aqua, Lene Nystrom (Lead singer of Aqua when she went solo), A Teens, B Witched, Barbarellas (The twins from B Witched went solo this year), Spice Girls, song from all the spice girls solo projects (LoL, dare I go on?) Sara Lumholdt & Marie Serneholt (the only two to go solo from A Teens LoL) Britney Spears of course, All Dashboard confessional, Jo O'Meara (from S Club 7, the only to go solo). I don't tend to go for top 40 as you can probably tell LoL! Hoku, Raven-Symone, Keane, lots more 90s:p
Muse, Jack's Mannequin, Something Corporate, (woah love Andrew Mcmahon much?) Florence and the Machine, Imogen Heap, Lights, Owl City, Heyhihello, Ben Folds, Ben Lee, Jimmy Eat World, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Rufus Wainright...I could go on forever, but I love pretty much everything except for heavy metal, or anything with excessive screaming. *sigh*
Favorite Genres in order: Modern Indie Rock music (like The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons), Alternative Rock, 20s Jazz, 40s Jazz, and 70s Rock.
The Black Keys, Franz Ferdinand, Spoon, Arctic Monkeys, My Little Pony, White Rabbits, The Beetles, Queen (<3), Robert Plant, Death Cab for Cutie, Muse, Mumfords & Sons, Good Old War, Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman, Hank Green, Charlie McDonald, Scott and Tom, The Eagles, Playradioplay!
I have a difficult time limiting down my favorites. Haha.
Muse, Breaking Benjamin, System of a Down, Protest the Hero, Rage Against the Machine, Vampire Weekend, Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, The Prodigy, Bullet for my Valentine, and Clout Cult
Also, I think i have that shirt, the striped one. We have been over this already on Dailybooth, not sure
ya know, I have really enjoyed the originals put out by YouTuber Dave, of "Music From Blue Skies" (out of England), but I own possibly everything Stuart Davis (Boulder, CO) has produced -- he's a Buddhist evangelist, and phenomenally gifted as a lyricist.
I listen to mainly instrumentals. Scores, ambient, post-rock. This Will Destroy You and Caspian would probably be my top 2 favourites. Felperc, Yndi Halda, The Album Leaf, and Explosions in the Sky comes close. Hans Zimmer, Steve Jablonsky, Michael Giacchino, and John Williams composes some beautiful scores.
What is your job Matt? For a little change of pace in music check out Denver & the Mile High Orchestra. They've got kind of an upbeat big band sound with Christian roots.
HAHA Mine is mostly rap/hip-hop. D12, NWA, Pac, Biggie, Eric B & Rakim, 50 Cent, Yelawolf, Lloyd Banks, Nate Dogg (RIP), Obie Trice, Tech N9ne, Slaughterhouse, etc. etc. haha does anyone know any of these?
Mine: McFly, Muse, Owl City, Cage the Elephant, Weezer, The Black Keys, Neon Trees, Cake, Carolina Liar, deadmau5, Hellogoodbye, Jimmy Eat World, Juanes, Katy Perry, Ludo, Lifehouse, Queen, Regina Spektor, Josh Groban, Sex Bob-Omb and The Monkees (just to name a few)
Relient K is possibly my favorite band. I also recently discovered how amazing Mumford and Sons is. Like you, I love me some Ben Gibbard (and I definitely think he needs to do a collab with that wife of his.) I love fun., Switchfoot, Paramore, Missy Higgins, Ingrid Michaelson, Colbie Caillat, Sara Bareilles, Muse, The Strokes, Mute Math, and The Fray. I love internety music like Skyway Flyer, Chameleon Cirucuit, ALL CAPS, The Oceanic Six, Alex Day, The Remus Lupins, etc.
Barcelona, Day to remember, Blink 182, Hillsong united, Owl city, Bruno mars, taylor swift, Jonas Brothers (psh be quiet), Boys like girls, the academy is..., A tribe called quest, fall out boy, Boat, tenth avenue north, death cab for cutie, Linkin Park...
Relient K is my absolute favorite. but im into alot of indie too liiiiikee bon iver, the ettes, the strokes, david gray, THE BLACK KEYS, arctic monkeys, the killers, florence and the machine for sureee oh and kid cudi. i love me some kid cudi. :)
Rammstein,30minutes to mars, avril lavigne, frank sinatra, kesha, rihanna, david guetta, alexisonfire, sum 41, Dean Martin, Black lungs, Joan jett, metallica, Adele, city and colour, white stripes, the vines, Bif naked, the tragically hip, the black eyed peas, The monkees, Glorillaz, Doris Day, thrice, my chemical romance, jet, katy perry, britney spears, lady gaga, eminem, taylor swift, shiana twain, Imfao, Lonely island, Evanescence, pink, nat king cole, and ray charles there's tons more.....
I pretty much love all of the indie bands you mentioned first, but I also love Snow Patrol. They're kind of in the genre, but a lot different. You'd probably like them....
and not just Chasing Cars. Cause that song does not do the band justice.
their album "A Hundred Million Suns" is probably my favorite album ever.
like your music!!

ya know, I have really enjoyed the originals put out by YouTuber Dave, of "Music From Blue Skies" (out of England), but I own possibly everything Stuart Davis (Boulder, CO) has produced -- he's a Buddhist evangelist, and phenomenally gifted as a lyricist.

@woodlandfox2112 Dave is amazing! I love his music!
