Have the drummer take it up a notch, though. This song should have a MUCH more aggressive drum part. Hitting 2 and 4 on the snare doesn't cut it. Listen to the original recording. Mix it up, bruddah! :D
Using an 8 count, the drummer is hitting the snare on the 3 and 7 beat. Sometimes he'll do a fill to bring it back, etc. All the elements/ instruments gel. Perhaps the original is a bit different, with more of an aggressive/ driving drum line, and worth checking out.
