Karen Sheperd was never better than right here (Eliminator Woman, '93 - US video release title). With the notable exception of her one major fight scene at the end of Operation Golden Phoenix ('93), Sheperd was mostly wasted in every other film she appeared in. The fight scenes in America 3000 and Shinobi Ninja (her first film) are notable but brief. Righting Wrongs from '86 features her famous HK fight with Cynthia Rothrock. Blood Chase ('89) with Andrew Stevens is also good if you can find it.

not quite realistic. when it comes to martial arts, it is only the practitioner who can makes it good, not the style. From what i've learned real "kung fu" doesn't look good, buit it is effective. My experience is 4 years with shotokan karate.

What ticks me off about the fempower movies is that the heroines seem to have esp in that they know what the enemy is going to do before he does it. She was only struck once by any of the men she fought and every blow she struck was perfect. These would be more enjoyable if the women at least worked up a sweat.

Don't take all this so seriously refdan49. In the real world she wouldn't have a chance against any of these men, no matter how skilled she was in martial arts. The fight scenes in movies are always ludicrous esp when the ladies get involved

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I do believe that a skilled female can defeat an UNskilled male in a fair fight. However, I don't find interesting these kinds of fights where the girl is invincible and all the men are stupid and incompetent. It's sort of a reverse stereotype from the old helpless female era.

Of course he's going to struggle a bit if he's unskilled. But these guys are usually built like brick shithouses and they're meant to be mean sreetfighters. I agree about the stereotyping. It does get a bit tedious at times but I dont care. So long as she looks good I don't care what she does

My sentiments exactly. That's one thing I like about Kim Maree Penn fight scenes against guys. Whether she wins or loses there is usually some back and forth, and she takes quite a pounding and still keeps fighting.

These FemPower films are really about goodlooking women looking good and ego-tripping. The odd blow might land on her but thats just to make her look even better. With a bit of blood around her mouth or to show shes as tough as the Man. If its martial arts you want I'd go see a Bruce Lee movie. The fights are no more real but at least they are believable. With properly matched fighters.

What probably annoys some men is the ego-tripping esp. if it seems to be done at our expense!
