You're comparing a 3,200lb sports coupe with all-wheel-drive and 210 turbocharged horsepower (if you're talking about the GSX trim) to a 1970s pickup truck that is, while powerful and maybe 4WD, around 4,000 pounds heavy and has the aerodynamics of a shipping crate compared to the sports coupe. That's like comparing Gatorade to Budweiser...

But if you really want to get specific, you could say that Mitsubishi started the comparison between the two, inadvertently or not. Why'd it have to be a C/K on the side of the road? Why not take a jab at something that actually competed with the Eclipse, like the Prelude or the 240SX? It would've made more sense, that way.

@Sasori327 That's an interesting interpretation, considering the the pitch of the ad was that the Eclipse had so much power that it could could magically give a bit of it to the truck. Basically, it's saying the Eclipse is a really powerful car... by '90s standards, I suppose.
Personally, I'd take a truck, because I'd need it to do stuff a scrawny little import like that couldn't handle. Function first and foremost.

Before I came to this video, I was browsing other old Mitsubishi ads, because I like old Mitsubishis. I saw this ad, called it out for not making as much sense as it could have, and went about my day just fine. I have a 96' Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder and I absolutely love her! A blast to drive, especially with a 5 speed and is the absolute sexiest car on the road! The body of the 95-99 Eclipses are unbelievably hot! Especially the 95' and 96' models. Thank you for posting!
