@scottvska If you read his book you'd get what he means by calling it a disease. All he means is you can't control it and it progressively gets worse. Not in the sense you just randomly pick it up one day.
@MrStephenBradley If drug addiction could not be controlled, then rehabilitation would be impossible. But he went to Mexico and came back clean, so obviously it can be controlled. Addicts want to call it a "disease" to relieve themselves of responsibility. They want to be seen as victims of drug addiction, which is absurd.
@scottvska I think that's too easy to say, drug addiction may not be a disease, but the word "addiction" says enough. It's not something you can just say "No" to and just quit with like today or tomorrow. Even if you'd have the control over yourself to stop with the drugs, you probably become very sick ( especially when you're very addicted ) which makes it hard to stop. It may not be a "disease" but an addiction can just be as tough.
@scottvska but it's not a conscious choice to get addicted to a certain substance, hence it's a disease. of course people accept the fact they may get addicted to sth, and therein lies their fault. addiction itself is a disease.
@scottvska Are you a fucking idiot or something? Do us a favor....research your stupid posts before you post them. Drug addiction is a disease which there is no cure for. most likely you yourself are not an addict by any means so that explains it I guess.
@NightTimeRightTime lol hes right in a way. its not something that happens to you, you have to take drugs in order to be an addict. but once you start taking shit like coke, speed, and heroin, your gonna be an addict.
@scottvska i agree. but it has the effect of a disease. and i think he means it in that way. if you read his biography he admits that no one is responsible for your addiction except for yourself.
Hah , if your read scar tissue it says that he gets fucked most of the time a few mounts after he leaves rehab , once due to drugs used when having a tooth removed!
FIRST! Jk, but seriously it makes me sad to listen to Anthony talk about his drug use. I read Scar Tissue, and he has supposedly stayed clean since 2001, but honestly I doubt he has stayed clean for 10 years.

It's not a disease, it's not something that happens to people out of the blue, it's a conscious choice to use drugs.

@floralsky yes, but he wrote this book even before 'by the way', so he stayed clean for maybe 1 or 2 years when he wrote that. I do believe that
