The great Sviatoslav Richter usually played with the score. I went to a recital of his in London many years ago where he had placed a leaflet on each seat, advocating that pianists should always play from the score. He said that the emphasis placed on memory for pianists detracted from the music and that that playing from the score required more discipline. He was a living legend so no-one dared criticise him.

Yes, he used the score, but only at the end of his career. He has a good point however.

@Perkeno Well, it's a 50 minute piece. Berezovsky doesn't normally use a score.
