how much did it cost to paint your bike n how long did it take u?... I have an 08 650r and I just laid it down n did some fairing damage n some under tail damage... it broke the frame slider right off but there is very little damage over all but I'd still like to paint my bike lime green or a royal blue... I have the black bike with the red rims and I hate the rims... let me know bud

I'm picking up my Ninja 650r saturday as y first bike. You think its a good beginner bike ?

@DecepticonLBC it is indeed a good beginner bike but it is more than enough for seasoned riders too , so as long as u can handle its low to mid end torque or power, just take it easy on the throttle if its ur first time on a 600-650 class sport bike. Takes bout 2 weeks or a month or even less depending on ur riding skills to get used to it...

@tekmasta8 I have been riding it for 3 months now and I already grew out of it. It pretty much maxes at 130 mph. I'm trading it for a 2011 Kawasaki Ninja zx-10r this fall. It fits my body size and weight. Also, I love the traction control option. This is one bike that you have to respect. Good luck to me !! =D

@DecepticonLBC @tekmasta8 i'd pick a liter bike as well, outgrown mine a long time ago... i'm just a little broke but yeah it'll be an easy transition for you... supersports have better handling, rode 2 myself - cbr600 & yamaha r1...enjoy ur new Ninja!

@Lenrom12 I love it ! Its defintely easy to ride. I fell once learning but that was a silly mistake of braking with the handlebar turned. I took a Motorcycle course and I recommend it to anyone wanting to learn how ti ride. I already ordered a 2 Bros M2 Carbon Fiber exhaust to make the bike sound real loud. I want those cars to hear me when I ride by them.

@DecepticonLBC In my opinion, as a beginner bike, you can't beat the Suzuki GS500. I got my GS500E for a grand, it's about $110 a YEAR for insurance, and gets 60 miles to the gallon. The best reason though, they are incredibly forgiving and more than enough power for what you need.

With that said, I'm looking into upgrading to a Ninja 650/Er-6n or SV650. Do I need one? Absolutely not. However, I will NOT consider a sport bike for many reasons I won't list here.

@LestatThirteen coming from a gs500, shouldn't be a prob for u switching to a sports or supersports bike, its ultimately the rider not that the bike that controls the ride as long as u ride within ur limit no matter what bike u have u should be fine and of course we still need to watch for those douche bag drivers that don't watch out for riders like us

When you painted the tank did you sand it down? Also did you use the same paint for the plastic and the metal? If so, what kind did you use?

@tekmasta8 I have the zero gravity dark one on my 07 650R. It was the best body mod i ever made to the bike(other than removing the ugly under-tail). It really looks awesome! Also consider putting a slip on muffler in place of stock, it reduces weight by 4-5 lbs and sounds sick! Not to mention the performance improvement. Adjust the front suspension down just a hair to add a more aggressive look and you end up with a pretty unique bike that looks and sounds badass! PS: I love the flat black!

yea crashing is no joke. i was hungover and dropped it. only a helmet, no pads or gloves. it hopped a curb and slid across the treelawn. i slid across the pavement. amazingly only fairing damage, and 3 tiny bits of road rash on me. picked it up and drove away.. my helmet has scrapes going all around.. without it id be done. i chopped the fairings and it looks even better.. o8 ninja 650r diablo black

i think it would look great green/black (matte).back would be green. side fairings and fender matte black and front cowling green. it would look like a special edition ninjas kawi has this and next year.

one thing i don't get though... u fell on it once and then u ride the newly painted version with nothing on but a helmet? lol remember there is no paint available to cover YOUR road rash :P

@tekmasta8 Just look at the er6n and that's the 650r naked. The 650r naked is a beautiful bike. Although at highway speed I tend to prefer my bike with fairings because I don't like the wind buffeting my head as much. In a crash, my bike is somewhat protected by the plastic. For now, I'll keep mine fully clothed until I can no longer fix the fairings with epoxy and paint.

I'm thinking about doing this to my bike now. How many cans of each did it take you to paint the entire bike? Why didn't you clear coat it when you were done, was it to keep the flat black look?

about 2-3 cans of each color, didn't really planned to clear coat it, flat black is fine with me without that glossy finish. It looks more tuff or hardcore this way.

just a standard drag bar i got from ebay, I hav the dealer cut it N install it , I hav no tools for the bar so i had em install it..the paint job's all me...

did the same wid the tank sanded, primered, then sprayed flat black...did'nt even take it apart i just covered whichever area i could that doesn't need to be painted wid tape plastic bag or newspaper...

I used colorplace spray paint from wal-mart they're cheap about $0.96 to a dollar sumtin, plus I bought very fine sand paper from Kragen about 4-5 bucks #400, wut i did is i sanded the fairings then painted with gray primer then the flat black paint they're both colorplace brands

It should be the right size for you, i'm about the same height 5'7 3/4" and 150 lbs. and i rcommend getting the sportbar 2.0 or drag bars for it. You should try it out in the dealer first see how it fits you, there is also a 2009 model u can chec out.

..there is a much lower sports bar than what i have the "2.0 sports bar" this will give u a better stance or forward lean, the bike's a pretty decent mid size sportbike but is taller than most supersports...

i'm 6'4" and my buddy is 6'6" and he's got one. i think it's very comfortable for a sportbike but i definately like more power. he put about 13k miles on it this summer so i think you'd be fine. would it be your first bike?
