Couldn't we just drop the technical crap and enjoy the overall performance. Some people try to take the real joy out of everything, obviously they have none of their own!

@ichliebebass I am a beginner in double bass but I have the printed music of this piece and it says at the top: Double bass solo tuning (which is followed by the bass clef staff) and it shows the the notes (bottom to top) Fsharp/B/E/A
I don't know what that means, does it mean you increase tension of strings to that pitch? isn't that going to put a lot of pressure on bridge? I'll ask my teacher tonight....
@Katakid1 thank you, are you then saying if I wanted to tune for the 'solo' I would have to change strings on my bass? at present I have ordinary 'thomastik bel canto' on my bass....that would be an expensive thing to do (unless one can use the solo strings also for orchestral?)
Yeah, you'd have to change strings, but you can just play the music from your sheets in orchestral tuning, I do that all the time. The only problem is you'll play it a whole tone lower than it is supposed to be.
Using the solo strings for orchestral works isn't practical; you'd have to transpose everything. Tuning down to EADG is possible, but the strings would get floppy and powerless.

I have to admit I am impressed. The violin version seems so simple in comparison.

@joparkeruk you typically have solo strings(as opposed to orchestral strings) which are in fact meant to be tuned to F#/B/E/A

Who rated this a 1? Most bassist cannot touch this guys intonation, let alone his vibrato.
