  • oh my word...this is soooo beautiful...the first time in my life hearing a double bass played as sonorous as a cello...

  • This is ludicrously good bass playing. Honestly.

  • GREAT!!!

    @ 3:30-3:36 Ouch.

  • @dbplaya asdf

  • does anyone know where to get this sheet music for bass? i've looked everywhere, but closest thing i could find is for cello.

  • Couldn't we just drop the technical crap and enjoy the overall performance. Some people try to take the real joy out of everything, obviously they have none of their own!

    Great!

  • I have to admit I am impressed. The violin version seems so simple in comparison.

  • What is the tunning of the bass?

  • @ichliebebass I am a beginner in double bass but I have the printed music of this piece and it says at the top: Double bass solo tuning (which is followed by the bass clef staff) and it shows the the notes (bottom to top) Fsharp/B/E/A

I don't know what that means, does it mean you increase tension of strings to that pitch? isn't that going to put a lot of pressure on bridge? I'll ask my teacher tonight....

  • @joparkeruk you typically have solo strings(as opposed to orchestral strings) which are in fact meant to be tuned to F#/B/E/A

  • @Katakid1 thank you, are you then saying if I wanted to tune for the 'solo' I would have to change strings on my bass? at present I have ordinary 'thomastik bel canto' on my bass....that would be an expensive thing to do (unless one can use the solo strings also for orchestral?)

  • @joparkeruk

Yeah, you'd have to change strings, but you can just play the music from your sheets in orchestral tuning, I do that all the time. The only problem is you'll play it a whole tone lower than it is supposed to be.

Using the solo strings for orchestral works isn't practical; you'd have to transpose everything. Tuning down to EADG is possible, but the strings would get floppy and powerless.

  • 太棒了!热泪盈眶···

  • i'm lovin the high C tuning.

  • AMAZING! BRAVO!

  • Great sound!!

  • Who rated this a 1? Most bassist cannot touch this guys intonation, let alone his vibrato.
